Just over 5,000 new cases of cervical cancer are reported in South Africa every year, with approximately 3,000 of these proving fatal. Even though cervical cancer is preventable, it has robbed many women of their lives while also robbing society and those they leave behind of their mothers, wives, sisters, friends, colleagues and contributors to society. In this episode we are joined by WHO Assistant Director General for Strategic Programmatic Communications : Cervical Cancer Elimination, Dr Nono Simela and Family Matters Centre founder and Obstetrician/Gynaecologist Dr Qinisile Diale. They will be educating us on cervical cancer prevention, screening and treatment; methods which will contribute to the elimination of cervical cancer, and the first ever elimination of a cancer in the history of mankind.
