Song “Wake Up” used with permission by The E-Block Band.   *****   Episode timestamps (conversation recorded Nov. 2023):   00:01 – Jenn offers a quick intro – and tune in for new episodes starting next week!   01:28 – David is a beyond modern astrologer with an interest in the Centaurs and outer planets. He believes that Chiron and kin are more than just symbols in a birth chart, but life-affirming guides to the Cosmos. (We’re excited that he also has an anthology on this topic!) Additionally, David has practiced meditation and energy healing for much of his life.   02:27 – What was David’s first meaningful astrology book? He initially remembers reading a Vedic astrology text by Bepin Behari. Later, Dane Rudhyar’s The Magic of Tone and the Art of Music made its way into his orb. Finally, Noel Tyl’s intro to astrology books (namely, The Principles and Practice of Astrology series) helped David get his bearings from a psychological, humanistic worldview.   06:47 – Should David find himself stranded on M87, the first book he’d bring with him would be The Astrological Neptune and the Quest for Redemption by Liz Greene. His Piscean nature feels the call!   08:02 – David’s second selection is The Yavanajataka, an ancient book in Indian astrology. Finally, he’d have the time to study this text and give it the attention it deserves!   08:36 – Thirdly, David would take along Inside Planets by Ellias Lonsdale, a book which Ellias channeled with his departed beloved; this one examines the consciousness of the planets. (Enjoy the side trip to Jenn’s mention of A Graphic Ephemeris of Sensitive Degrees by Eleanor Bach.)   14:00 – Interlude: Join the CAELi Support Drive and for only $35, you can enjoy your morning beverage out of a gorgeous CAELi mug!   14:46 – Our duo discusses David’s work with the Centaurs and sensitive degrees.   23:38 – David’s class on the DRC (Davison Relationship Chart) method can be found here.   25:28 – Another book that David loves is Astrology: A Language of Life, Volume 1 – Progressions by Robert Blaschke. It’s wonderful; dense, but short!   29:01 – David will soon be publishing an anthology of the Centaurs, Sideways From Saturn: Astrological Guidance From the Centaurs, which is currently available for order from Praesepe Press. You can catch him soon for a book talk about this project at CAELi! (One more reason to become a CAELi member! 😊)   29:19 – Lastly, David’s recommendations for beginners include: Inside Degrees: Developing Your Soul Biography Using the Chandra Symbols by Ellias Lonsdale; the Pleiadian degree series (The Circular Temple) by John Sandbach; Chiron and the Healing Journey by Melanie Reinhart; Chiron: The Wisdom of a Deeply Open Heart by Adam Gainsburg; Steven Forrest’s work, especially Yesterday’s Sky; and the work of Jeff Green.   38:01 – Learn about David’s work at: https://centaurs.space/ and https://centaurhealing.earth/.   38:26 – Thanks for listening to Within Orb! The Temple of Enlightenment International Spiritual Center is a global community dedicated to teaching New Thought Ageless Wisdom – recognizing, honoring, and nurturing the dignity and uniqueness of all people.   08:06 – Issachar’s first astrology book was recommended by his teacher: Alan Oken's Complete Astrology: The Classic Guide to Modern Astrology. (To hear Jenn’s episode, check out Episode 39, Jenn Zahrt: For the Love of Astrology (Books)!) The duo also takes a quick side trip to a great beginner book: The Only Way to Learn Astrology by Joan McEvers and Marion March.   09:58 – If Issachar were stranded on a deserted island, which texts would he bring? His first pick is The Language of Uranian Astrology by Roger A. Jacobson. This one keeps him sharp, and new readings always bring new insights!   12:58 – The second title that Issachar would bring is Geodetic Astrology for Relocating and World Affairs by Chris McRae. He finds this one phenomenal and loves the world maps. (Nick Campion’s The Book of World Horoscopes also gets a mention!)   17:45 – Interlude: Join the CAELi Support Drive and for only $35, you can enjoy your morning beverage out of a gorgeous CAELi mug!   18:32 – Issachar’s third selection is volume 21 in Jean-Baptiste Morin’s series, Astrologia Gallica: The Morinus System of Horoscope Interpretation, which has been translated many times. The way that Morin breaks down a chart and how to interpret it is incredibly helpful. (The Rules of Chart Interpretation by Rod Suskin also gets a nod by Jenn here, as it’s based on Morin’s work.)   22:44 – Issachar has many runners-up, including: Christian Astrology by William Lilly, Vocations: The New Midheaven Extension Process by Noel Tyl, the Dial Detective by Maria Kay Simms, and Abu Ma'shar Al-Balkhi’s Persian Nativities IV: On the Revolutions of the Years of Nativities (

Since we love books around here, it’s the perfect week for this gem from the archives, as astrologer and author Linda "Moonrabbit" Zlotnick joins host Jenn Zahrt from St. Paul, Minnesota to chat all things books – including her soon-to-be-released book on death charts and moving through loss! Don’t miss this mini-lesson on Moon’s groundbreaking research into death charts, as the two cover that and more, including: accessing the elements with integrated thinking; Uranus transits and freedom; Saturn, limitations, and internalizing authority; past lives and evolutionary perspectives; how the past isn’t disengaged from the present; eclipses, growth, and change; the 8th house; progressions as reinforcement; and working with folks who have experienced loss. Plus: 1970s library treasures, building blocks, and keeping it simple!     Visit CAELi’s Within Orb pod page! Learn more about the CAELi Institute and check out their latest lab offerings. Support our work with a financial contribution or book donation. Follow CAELi on FB, IG, YouTube, and Bluesky. Transcripts available upon request. Song “Wake Up” used with permission by The E-Block Band.   *****   Episode timestamps (conversation recorded June 2024):   00:01 – Producer Jen Braun wants you to know it was an honor to edit Moon’s upcoming book on death charts this past summer! Also… happy birthday, Moon!!   03:02 – Linda “Moonrabbit” Zlotnick has been a Twin Cities professional astrologer for nearly 50 years, with a focus on astrology as a source of illumination and healing. Moon began studying astrology in 1973; after formal training with Zipporah Dobyns in 1977, she began her full-time practice. Her experience with grief as a motherless daughter and twinless twin called her to write the book Star Sisters: An Astrologer's Memoir of Twin Loss. In 2015 she began her pioneering study of astrological death charts, which she uses now in her work with clients as a healing tool for the loss of a loved one. Stay tuned for the release of her next book, which has the working title Death Charts: An Astrological Tool for the Bereaved.   03:27 – The first astrology book that Moon ever read was A To Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator by Llewellyn George; it was the only book under “astrology” in the public library in 1975! Another early favorite was Astrology, Psychology and the Four Elements: An Energy Approach to Astrology and Its Use in the Counseling Arts by Stephen Arroyo. Moon loved the psychological orientation of this one and the wealth of info about the elements.   05:14 – If Moon could bring only three books to a deserted island, what would she bring? The first one would be the current manuscript she’s finishing, tentatively titled Death Charts: Using Astrology to Heal Grief. Moon’s innovative work on death charts came about through the profound experience of losing her twin in 2005. Moon finds that working with clients using a loved one’s “last breath chart” helps foster greater understanding and perspective for them in revealing a path forward.   10:47 – Moon’s second choice is Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil by Liz Greene. Moon finds that Greene can connect archetypal themes to planets in a helpful way, and this text would be a good intellectual support system (after breaking her kneecap this past winter)!   13:42 – Interlude: Join the CAELi Support Drive and for only $35, you can enjoy your morning beverage out of a gorgeous CAELi mug!   14:28 – The third title that Moon would bring is Steven Forrest’s Yesterday’s Sky: Astrology and Reincarnation, because she likes the teachings on nodal patterns in the birth chart. (Enjoy the quick side trip to Pluto: The Evolutionary Journey of the Soul by Jeffrey Wolfe Green!)   18:14 – Moon shares more on her work with death charts, including bringing in eclipses, and how they impa

Rather than studying astrology in isolation, she explores its role in shaping human systems, integrating celestial cycles into real-world applications that influence everything from leadership models to environmental frameworks. Her pioneering Ecosystems Astrology method reframes astrology as an interconnected, living system—an approach she’s shared through global retreats, workshops, and thought leadership. Rebecca has collaborated with organizations such as Google, Aman Hotels, The NED, NeueHouse, and even Christian Louboutin bringing astrology into the worlds of business, fashion, technology, and hospitality through keynotes and team building events. Rebecca has spoken at leading conferences on astrology, futurism, and interdisciplinary thought, engaging in conversations on AI, quantum mechanics, and social transformation. Through retreats and immersive experiences, Rebecca invites participants to engage with astrology as a tool for systems thinking, ecological awareness, and cultural innovation, weaving the ancient axiom as above, so below into the fabric of modern life.   01:12 – Rebecca’s first astrology book was Parkers’ Astrology by Julia and Derek Parker, which she loved! Around the same time, she also encountered The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need by Joanna Martine Woolfolk – but Parkers’ gets the hat tip!   06:21 – If Rebecca could bring only three books to a deserted island, her first pick would be Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View by Richard Tarnas.   16:09 – Interlude: Join the CAELi Support Drive and for only $35, you can enjoy your morning beverage out of a gorgeous CAELi mug!   16:55 – Rebecca’s second choice would be Brady's Book of Fixed Stars: The Invisible Force and Influence of Constellations in the Natal Chart by Bernadette Brady.   24:20 – The third title Rebecca would bring is Hellenistic Astrology: The Study of Fate and Fortune by Chris Brennan.   25:16 – For beginners, Rebecca recommends Astrology, Psychology, and the Four Elements: An Energy Approach to Astrology and Its Use in the Counseling Arts by Stephen Arroyo and The Astrology Sourcebook: A Guide to the Symbolic Language of the Stars by Shirley Soffer. Rebecca also offers two Irish poets that have been meaningful to her – John O'Donohue’s book Beauty: The Invisible Embrace and the work of David Whyte.   31:08 – Jenn asks Rebecca about her text Your Body and the Stars: The Zodiac As Your Wellness Guide, co-authored with Stephanie Marango. Tune in to hear the deets!   33:26 – Find Rebecca at her website: https://www.rebeccagordonastrology.com/.   36:40 – Thanks for listening to Within Orb!
