Winky and the Stain like to play music; strange, obscure, experimental music; happy, dazzling, thrilling music; dark, scary, painful music. Winky and the Stain like to have a bit of a ramble, a bit of a chat; sometimes about the music, sometimes about nothing very much. Winky and the Stain like to eat cheese, drink wine, maybe fall asleep... If you like avant-garde, electronica, radiophonic, krautrock; if you like rave, techno, beats; if you like drone, noise, improv... Come and listen to Winky and the Stain.

Oh oh oh, listener. It’s magic. By special request (at www.facebook.com/winkyandthestain) and by sleight of hand, Winky and the Stain weave a musical spell to send you into a hypnotic trance/sleep. Featuring Winky’s live conjuring! The ball is under the middle cup. No! We tricked you! We tricked you with magic!
All the Stain’s Christmases have come at once, in this triple anniversary special. And he’s celebrating in typical middle-aged loner style – with Winky. Happy Christmas everyone!
Been around the world and ay ay ay… I can’t find my Winky. Hello listeners, here’s a special exotic episode of Winky and the Stain, featuring all manner of tunes and artists that the Stain really likes but couldn’t cram into any themed shows because he doesn’t understand the language they’re in. Hopefully this will demonstrate our sensitive, multicultural side. Despite the uniformly poor pronunciation.

What’s the colour of money? What’s the colour of money? There’s loads of good tunes about colours, aren’t there? Here’s a few of them. Also, your foul-mouthed feedback, and Winky and The Stain reverse the roles.
This morning Facebook told me that it was the start of summer. Outside it was pissing with rain. This seems as good a day as any to post Winky and the Stain musing on that very British preoccupation – the weather. Featuring Winky listing all the different types of weather, as a handy ready reference guide. Apologies a) this was recorded outside, so expect a bit of background noise. Apologies b) the artists who made the last track are Catherine Hershey & Gilles Poizat.
Careful! Oh, do be careful, Listener. Winky and the Stain are leading you into Danger. There’s risky (risqué?) opinions, assorted weapons and a precariously balanced glass bottle. And the Stain places his reputation in jeopardy by playing a couple of (whisper it) slightly mainstream tunes. Includes marginally complimentary listener feedback.
Oh crikey, listener. We get in deep with our special guest, Lngdstncdrmmr on the thorny issue of politics. In fact, thank you particularly to our special guest for holding things together as Winky proved ignorant and the Stain became increasingly drunken and incomprehensible. Also, Winky reads us a poem he wrote. And we hardly played any music. A shambles, all-in-all. Much like our democracy.
A very tired Winky and the Stain stare blearily into the lights of oncoming cars. Actually, Producer Will did once stare straight into the sun and permanently damaged his eyesight. We don’t discuss that on the show. Perhaps we should have? Contact us on Facebook to complain. This is our show about Light.
Don’t be afraid, listener. It’s only the dark. And Winky and the Stain will be here to hold your hand and stroke your hair. Join us as we blindly grope our way through the midnight blackness. Winky does science, the Stain mocks him from a position of questionable authority. The usual really.
Breathe it in, listener; the pure, clean air of the countryside. Horny handed son of the soil, Winky gets back to nature in this special Rural edition, where he happens across a kindly old farmer. We listen to a few discs on the farmer’s gramophone and share in his unspoiled country wisdom.
Muuuuu! Muuuuu! We’d like to take you to Planet Mu. It’s their 20th Anniversary year, so we thought we’d better play loads of their tunes. You could call it an homage, except we’re too amateur for flattery to be meaningful. You could call it a celebration, except Winky has a bit of a moan in the middle of it. So let’s just call it a “Thank you, Planet Mu” from The Stain, which Winky joins in with. **Apologies for Winky’s awful mic technique throughout**
Alright chaps, we’re back again. And we’ve got JayetAl in the studio (their studio) again. Discussing their new EP, politics and pissing in bottles. Also, complaints from you, the listener! Please feel free to send in your complaints about this and any other podcasts.
If you want to check out JayetAl, their website is: http://www.jayetal.co.uk/
And the video we talk about is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq6Bg6C6EW8
What? Has it been this long? How time flies!
Oh, Listener! We’re sorry to leave you alone so long. There’s life trauma and upheaval and all manner of to-do. But Winky and The Stain are back with you. And this time you know it’s for real. Come in and help us examine the nature of this thing we experience as time, with Special Expert Jez and a host of knotty theoretical problems. Plus The Stain plays the wrong tunes. Plus Winky can’t grasp the difference between space-time and gravity. It’s like you’ve never been away.
It was always going to come, as it comes to us all. Is it a Death special, or is it a celebration of life? Winky and the Stain hold hands and wade together into the eternal river, to be nipped at by the crabs of doom. Be warned: there are actual serious discussions about mortality and stuff here, along with some quite frightening music. Plus all the usual jokes about willies and farting.
