Classical Punjabi Poets: Shah Hussain (Part 2 of 2)
Shah Hussain was a Punjabi Sufi poet, born in Lahore, and is regarded as a Sufi saint. He is considered a pioneer of the Kafi form of Punjabi poetry. Shah Hussain's love for a Brahmin boy called "Madho" or "Madho Lal" is so known that they are often referred to as a single person with the composite name of "Madho Lal Hussain". His Urs (annual death anniversary) is celebrated at his shrine every year during the "Mela Chiraghan" ("Festival of Lights").

Classical Punjabi Poets: Sultan Bahu
Like many other Sufi saints of South Asia, Sultan Bahu was a prolific writer and a poet. He also founded the Sarwari Qadiri Sufi order. Most of his books deal with specialised subjects related to Islam and Islamic mysticism; it is his Punjabi poetry that had popular appeal and made him a household name in the region. Simple yet deep choice of words made the verses he wrote unique. He portrayed direct confrontation with fundamentalists, and Mullahism.

Classical Punjabi Poets: Bulleh Shah
Baba Bulleh Shah was a Punjabi Sufi poet, humanist and philosopher. He lived in the same period as the Sindhi Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhatai, renowned Punjabi poet Waris Shah and Sachal Sarmast. Urdu poet Mir Taqi Mir was also his contemporary. In his Kafi style poetry Bulleh Shah strongly criticizes religious orthodoxy. Corrections: - Aurangzeb's sons who fought were Muazzam, Azam, Akbar, Muhammad Sultan and Kambakhsh. Muazzam became the undisputed ruler.
