On this week's episode, I chat with the director of a new horror film called The Cellar Jamie Langlands, and the star of The Cellar, Meghan Adara. The Cellar is available on VOD on November 4th. Jamie told me where the idea for The Cellar came from and a film that inspired the story, while Meghan told me what she did to get into the right headspace and how she found starring in her first horror film and whether or not she’ll act in a horror film in the future, and so much more.

This week I had writer Kev Harrison on the pod to talk about his new book Pyres, which was released on October 3rd. He told me how he fell in love with horror because of his parents, what happened when he saw a ghost when he was 16, and how he came up with the story for his newest novel. He also explained what a spirit painter is, what movies he won’t watch again, and the movie that he’d remake and it reminded me that I need to watch that movie again!

This week I had the pleasure of speaking with Shelby Oaks writer/director Chris Stuckmann. Shelby Oaks is in theatres this Friday, October 24th. You may know Chris from his YouTube channel, but if you don’t know, you will now. He told me how he fell in love with horror at a young age, him and his wife’s writing process for Shelby Oaks, and some of the movies that inspired them while they were writing. He also reveals cool facts about some of the shoot locations, the directors whose style inspired him when they were shooting, and whether or not he thinks influencers and YouTubers are being taken more seriously by studios now.

In this week’s episode, filmmaker Matt Lolich tells me about his short film A Werewolf in Wisconsin which is about the myth of the Beast of Bray Road. Matt told me how he came up with the idea for the short, what his super quick shoot was like, and how long the editing process was afterwards. He also revealed the famous horror director he went to high school with and he told me how he started his podcast, The Scary Movie Project.

This week I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Coltan Scrivner about his new book Morbidly Curious: A Scientist Explains Why We Can’t Look Away, which is out tomorrow, October 6th. He told me how videogames like Resident Evil were his gateway into the macabre, what he’s learned in his research about why people love being scared, and the three different categories that people can be divided into. He also talked about how he started the Nightmare in the Ozarks Film Festival which is in its second year, why he likes going to haunts, and the surprising director whose horror movies he really loves.

He told me about his love for Stephen King, having grown up in Maine and all, and the one time he ran into King at the movies! He also talked to me about the Smurl family case, which is featured in The Conjuring: The Last Rites and why he thought it was such a compelling case, and so much more!

Bryn Chainey is the writer/director behind the new cosmic mystery horror movie Rabbit Trap out everywhere on VOD on September 30th. He told me where the idea for the script came from, his favorite times of the year to watch horror movies, and the big swing he took to ask Dev Patel to star in Rabbit Trap. He also described what the quick filming schedule was like, the films that he asked his team to watch before production began, and what he wants everyone to know before they watch Rabbit Trap.

In this week’s episode, I had the opportunity to speak with Racheal Cain about her debut feature length film, Somnium. Somnium is out and available to rent or own on VOD, so definitely go check it out. Racheal spoke about the 13 year process of making Somnium from start to finish, what the two phases of the shooting process were like, and the very cool story behind finding her two leads. She also talked about her days making movies as a kid, whether or not she relates to the main character in Somnium, and her advice for filmmakers who are making their first feature.

This week I got to chat with my friend L.R. Staszak. Her writing has been included in anthologies, and she’s published several novels like The Heart of Music which just came out this June, Deck the Mall: A Lake Springs Mall Story, and a Christmas Campaign. We talked about how she got into horror as a 90’s kid, the unique reason why she first started writing Christmas horror stories, and whether or not she believes in ghosts. We also talked a bit about The Grudge and all of the Japanese remakes of the originals as well as what her ideas are for her next novels.

This week I’m talking to actor, educator and musician Kaye Tuckerman, who is playing Patrick Bateman’s mother in American Psycho the Musical at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Houston, Texas this September 2nd through the 14th. The Australia native also wrote and sang the promotional song for the 2005 Australian horror movie Wolf Creek. We talked about why she loves the horror genre, how she thinks American and Australian horror differ, and what it was like to direct a production of The Addams Family in Australia after the pandemic. She also told me what her favorite Grimms Fairy Tale was as a child, her profound and mysterious experience visiting the actual Hanging Rock in Australia, and how she thinks American Psycho lands differently in each successive decade, and so much more.

This week I spoke with director Carlson Young about her new movie Trust. Trust is out everywhere in theatres on Friday, August 22nd. We talked about how she got involved with the project, what drew her to the script, and what the shoot was like. She was a recurring character on the SCREAM TV series, so she broke down her favorites and why she loves the horror genre, as well as the movies she watched to prepare to shoot Trust.

Then we get into talking about Witchboard, including how he got the role, what it was like to work with director Chuck Russell, and how it was to work with a cat onset. This week I talked with writer/director Allan Piper and actor Jennifer Leigh Houston about their new movie eVil Sublet. They told me how they fell in love with the genre, the real life apartment they lived in that inspired the story behind eVil Sublet, and the micro hauntings that happened in the background of their shoot which are now in the movie. They also revealed whether or not Sally Struthers did her own screams and what it was like to work with such a huge star.

Then he revealed to me why he loves movies that make him feel prolonged anxiety, his favorite horror directors, and a very controversial pick for which horror movie he would remake if he had the option.
