Having miraculously survived a season at Eintracht Frankfurt, Laurent Legrande (Tom) has received the boot a mere three games in to the next season. With the Frankfurt board finally delivering a well-deserved coup de grace to Legrande's tenure.
After which Laurenr took taken some time away from the game. With an aborted move to Palermo falling through, due to a last minute check from the club running his name on Interpol's most wanted. (Or, was it that Tom hadn't realised that Italy and Germany don't share a border?)
After all this, Legrande has finally received another chance, with a move to Stade Rennais coming to fruition. Will he make the same mistakes as Frankfurt, or will he learn from his previous failings? With a similar foundation to start from, it could go either way. So what is next for Legrande in an up and down managerial career?
Whilst Albert Wiseman's (Lewis) FCSB, have had an excellent start to the season. Currently, performing as one of the best sides in the Romanian top flight. Will this success continue to flow throughout the season, or will things nose dive with a midseason fixture flurry?
Episode 14 of WUADOF's European Jailbreak will provide all the answers.

Laurent Legrande (Tom) has somehow survived a season at Frankfurt, having been called into the board room with regularity. With super-subs and last minute miracles, enabling him to narrowly avoid the sack on numerous occasions. Will his ambitious youthful rebuild of the side finally pay dividends with an off-season for it all to bed in? Or will his challenging target of 11 points from 15 prove too much for a manager who seems to have 9 lives with the Frankfurt board?
Now comfortably settled-in in Romania, what is next for Wiseman (Lewis) and his rejuvenated FCSB side? Is a title challenge calling, or are things going to turn on a dime, and a slide down the league follow? And what does the summer transfer market bring, and will Wiseman be able to restrain his spending to not put the club into red?
All will be revealed about Legrande's fate, and so much more in Episode 13 of WUADOF's European Jailbreak.

Laurent Legrande's (Tom) first season at Eintracht Frankfurt is coming to an end, and he's doing a solid if unspectacular job. It's been steady going to the end of the season. Will they get European Football? Will the promised transfer bonanza come to pass? And what is next for Legrande in his tenure at Frankfurt?
Having leapt from CSA Steau Bucharest to arch rivals Fotball Club FCSB, Albert Wiseman (Lewis) is starting to figure things out in his new surroundings. However, with the biggest budget since AEK Athens, and an owner who is not know for patience, will Wiseman do another Tilykratis and splash the cash rashly? Or will he figure out how to put the right pieces together to get FCSB moving in the right direction?
All we can say is buckle up your seatbelts for a belting Episode 12 of WUADOF's European Jailbreak.

Laurent Legrande (Tom) has just undergone a huge move. Having narrowly missed out on a playoff place with SV Waldhof, the summer transfer window came and went and he remained at the club. However, having guided SV Waldhof positively in the league until January to a comfortable 6th place, Eintracht Frankfurt came calling. And with an offer that good on the table, and with Champions League football still in play, Legrande couldn't refuse. What's next for Legrande in his first partial season at the club? Will things be plain sailing, or will his European dream turn into a nightmare?
Whilst at Albert Wiseman's CSA Steaua Bucureşti, jubilation at winning Romania's Liga II and earning promotion to the Superliga, hasn't lasted long. With the reality dawning of the serious uphill challenge staring the team straight in the face, and with no wins at all this season, things are looking grim. However, Wiseman, like the con artist he is, has been offered a lifeline to escape. The price however is steep, crossing over to the other club that claims Steau Bucharest's iconic champions league winning legacy, Fotbal Club FCSB. Will the fraudster gain a conscience, or will he jump like a rat from a sinking ship?
The answers to these questions will be revealed in Episode 11 of WUADOF's European Jailbreak.

And the team finds itself hurtling towards the end of the regular season with a good opportunity of promotion? Will they successfully navigate the champions playoff? At SV Waldhof Laurent Legrande (Tom) is looking to the future with positivity. As his Waldhof side are riding high heading into the winter break. Having successfully navigated the the step up to Bundesliga 2 in a fairly straightforward fashion, with only a few bumps along the way. However, will things stay as straightforward as they are as he heads toward the pointy end of the season, or will the inexperience at this level begin to tell?
Whilst at CSA Steaua Bucureşti, Albert Wiseman (Lewis) has found himself in the midst of a financial crisis. With the club's relegation from the Romanian Superliga impacting the balance sheet. With players being sold left right and centre, and wages being slashed to halt the bleeding- how will this translate on the pitch? Will Wiseman's decision to abandon wingers, and focus on the core of young home grown central midfielders pay dividends? Or, will their lack of experience show when it matters the most?
Plans are being made, and potential futures calculated, all whilst the day-to-day needs to be taken care of. It's another slice of Legrande and Wiseman's world in Episode 9 of WUADOF's European Jailbreak.

After a thrilling end to his first season in Germany, Laurent Legrande (Tom) finds himself promoted. With his SV Waldhof side successfully making it out of Bundesliga 3 at the first time of asking. However, the work is far from over, as several of the key players from last year's promotion winning side have moved on to pastures new. Will he find the right players to keep the side in a new division? And how will the notoriously stubborn manager with his attacking style of play, find life at the next level up? Especially, as SV Waldhof's wage budget is the lowest in the league.
Whilst in Bulgaria, Albert Wiseman (Lewis) has turned Krumovgrad's season around. Having shifted to a 4-2-3-1, he has managed to get the best out of his two star players- Preslav Bachev, and the talismanic central attacking midfielder Dimitar Kostadinov. The end result was a surge up the league from 13th to 4th. Can Wiseman keep this momentum going at the end of the Bulgarian Preliminary phase? And is there a chance that the Champions Playoff, and even potentially European Qualification might be beckoning?
All will be revealed in Episode 8 of WUADOF's European Jailbreak.

Happy New Year and here's to a good 2024 from WUADOF HQ.
In this New Year's Day episode 7 of European Jailbreak there's plenty of action from Germany and Bulgaria to unpack.
In Germany, Laurent Legrande (Tom) has had an up and down start to his life at SV Waldhof. However, having slightly softened his outrageously attacking approach by dropping the wingbacks in his 2-4-1-2-1 backs to full backs in a 4-2-1-2-1, things started to click. With a run of great results behind them they find themselves in 4th- with the team in 3rd 6 points a head with 6 games to go. With a promotion playoff or even automatic promotion possible, will SV Waldhof continue to close the gap? Or, will this young squad find the final fixtures a step too far?
Whereas in Bulgaria, Albert Wiseman (Lewis), kept his relegation threatened Krumovgrad up in straightforward fashion. With a pre-season under his and the team's belt, and some promising young signings to bed in, will it be another season of overachievement? Or will the pieces not quite gel as Wiseman intended, and things start moving sooner rather than later in the wrong direction? *

Having achieved all could he could with Slavia Kromeritz, Laurent Legrande (Tom) has found himself a new home. After a successful interview, he finds himself appointed SV Waldhof manager. His new home- Germany, his new division - Bundesliga 3.
After being relegated from Bundesliga 2, the squad has been picked clean of stars. With the side's best players leaving with their relegation release clauses triggered. However, with the coffers full, Legrande has been able to sign several new young, gifted, and hard working players.
Will this ambitious manager be able to guide this side full of young hungry players straight back up? Or will the challenges of adapting to a new country and level of competition trip up the disgraced financier turned football manager?
Whilst Albert Wiseman's (Lewis), Greek odyssey is over. He leaves AEK Athens as Greek Super League title winners. However, he leaves in disgrace, as a poor performance in the cup final means crosstown rivals Olympiacos win the Greek cup. And with the Greek press revealing his true identity as a career con-man. The club asks him politely to jump before he is pushed.
The result- Wiseman dropping everything and making a dash across the border into Bulgaria. He ends up in the Bulgarian resort town of Krumovgrad- where he holidays waiting for another managerial opportunity to come along. Where by coincidence would have it Kruovgrad themselves go on a poor run, and sack their manager. Whilst not initially convinced, Wiseman's charm and charisma win the board round at interview.
Consequently, he finds himself going from managing a top European Club, to being embroiled in a relegation dog fight with Krumovgrad sat 13 out of 16 clubs. With half the season already gone- can Wiseman do enough to stop the rot? Or will his downturn in fortunes only continue to get worse?
The next chapter of WUADOF's European Jailbreak takes place in Episode 6- Settling In. *

With Slavia Kromeritz having been promoted to the top flight, how will Laurent Legrande (Tom) cope with the step up in quality? A newly professionalised team, but shorn of their route through loans to easy talent, how will they recruit the caliber of player required? And with a season of fighting the odds again, will it all end up being a bit too much?
Whilst Albert Wiseman (Lewis), having had the fairytale chance to move up from second division mid-table obscurity to a Greek superpower in AEK Athens, is coming to the end of his first season in charge at the club.
Having been unceremoniously dumped out of the Europa Conference league at the semi final stage, and with the league in the bag, there's just a cup final against Olympiacos to round out the season. How does it play out, and what's next for a ex-con who has hit the jackpot in Greece?
The next chapter of WUADOF's European Jailbreak will play out in Episode 5: All Change Please.

With the second half of the season beckoning will Laurent Legrande's (Tom) Slavia Kromeritz side, make their early season success count? With the semi-pro side sat first in the Czech second flight, can his rag tag band of journeymen and loanee youngsters keep up the form when it matters? Or will it all fall apart when things matter the most?
Whilst Albert Wiseman (Lewis), having successfully kept Tilykratis in the second flight, spent the summer overhauling the squad and spending the club's entire wage budget. The only small problem being that the club had 13 first team players on the books, and 6 of them were Central Midfielders. At this point he did what he knew how to do best and disappeared in scandal and ignominy.
Having reappeared again in December after slipping away for a couple of holidays, Wiseman has successfully blagged his way to being handed the AEK Athens job. With such a convincing track record, and a squad full of international regulars- how could this end anything other than badly?
Those questions and more will be answered in Episode 4 of Who Uses A Director of Football?: European Jailbreak. *

Having taken Slavia Kromeritz to 5th in the Czech second flight, Laurent Legrande (Tom) is in no mood to rest on his laurels. With limited funds to improve a team operating on a shoe string budget, he's looking at creative solutions to make the next steps. Will this modest semi-pro club be able to take the next step to match Legrande's ego and ambition? Or will his radical approach to re-tooling lead to Legrande's downfall?
Whilst Albert Wiseman (Lewis), the convicted Ponzi-scheme Con-Man, finds himself in football purgatory. Tilykratis are the only team competing in both the promotion and relegation play-offs in the Greek second division. Will a miraculous run of form taking Tilykratis to new heights? Or, will all their hard work be undone by appalling football administration, and a run of late-season misfortune?

With Pa being placed into retirement by Tom after winning the Brazilian top flight and the Copa Sudamericana, it's one final update from Lewis and Renzo Rivero. With a potential treble, including the Copa Libertadores, on the cards will Rivero's Fluminense finish the job?
Then, once Renzo's and Pa's tale is finished, Lewis and Tom reflect on the journey and select their all-time save XIs. Who will make the cut, and who will miss out? Be prepared, some big names don't make it!
And finally... we're delighted to announce that WUADOF will return for season 2 in November. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for future episodes.
And thank you to all of you listening, and getting entertainment from two men talking about an imagined football universe. When we started this we were uncertain if anyone would get it, so to have such lovely word of mouth feedback has meant the world to both of us.
Thanks again, happy listening, and until November... bye for now.
Welcome to our second ever bonus episode of Who Uses a Director of Football?: Sudamericana Adventure.
In the Bigger Match 2 it's a clash of heavyweight South American titans as Pa Jackson's (Tom) Corinthians take on Renzo Rivero's (Lewis) Fluminense.
In the white corner, Pa leads out his Corinthian team fresh from just winning the Brazilian Serie A league title. The team features the elite attacking talent of Fabao. Whose combination of power, technique, and finishing have made him the dominant force in the Brazilian top division, leading him to be crowned top goalscorer. Behind him sit two elite number 10s Ze Carioca and Diego Enrique to feed Pa's main man the ammunition and to attack the channels.
Whilst in the green and red striped corner, Renzo leads out Fluminense, currently 2nd in the league in Brazil in 2029 and only 3 points off the league leaders Flamengo. This strong side features a strong all round team led by their all Argentinian front three of goalscorer extraordinaire Ivo Mammini 'Cooper' and an extraordinarily talented pair of inside forwards Maximiliano Gatti and Federico Flores.
Two evenly balanced and offensively talented teams, but which team will be able to better nullify the opposition's forward players and create the winning chances for their teams?
So... with a huge amount of pride on the line, the stakes couldn't be higher in Brazil as Pa and Renzo face off for a second time! With Pa/Tom out for revenge after Renzo/Lewis' Universidad de Chile narrowly squeaked past Audax Italiano side last time. We can guarantee you that things are going to get very heated!
Our second bigger game delivered- buckle up for one hell of a ride!
