Who Killed...?
35th Anniversary of the Kirtland Cult Killings
On today’s episode, we will dive into the Kirtland Cult Killings that took place in Kirtland, Ohio. This small town, situated in Lake County and only a 25-minute drive east of Cleveland, became a national headline in January 1990. After moving to Kirtland, Lundgren established himself as a lay minister for the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dale Luffman, the president of the northeast Ohio chapter of the Reorganized Church, confirmed that Lundgren served at the church temple in Kirtland from 1985 to 1987. During this period, he took charge of guiding tours of the church's 153-year-old temple for the public after relocating from Kansas City, Missouri. The victims were the Dennis Avery family: Dennis, Cheryl, and their three daughters—Trina (15), Rebecca (13), and Karen (7). They had moved from Missouri to join Lundgren’s group around 1987. On April 17, 1989, Lundgren invited the Averys to his farm in Kirtland for a “last supper”-type gathering. One by one, they were taken to a barn behind the house, where they were bound, gagged with duct tape, and shot to death. Reports indicate that a chainsaw was used to muffle the sound of the gunshots. Legal expert Matt Mangino joined us and highlighted that Koberger's decision not to elaborate on his motives was not unusual in plea agreements, especially when the defendant is not compelled to provide such information. Who Killed...?
Gilgo Four Update: Peaches & Baby Doe
Authorities on Long Island have identified a woman long associated with the Gilgo Beach murders investigation as Tanya Denise Jackson, a U.S. Army veteran who was living in Brooklyn at the time of her death in 1997. Jackson, also known as "Peaches," due to her tattoo, was born in Alabama. Her remains were discovered in June 1997, concealed in a container in a wooded area of Hempstead Lake State Park. DNA analysis conducted during the Gilgo investigation linked her to the remains of a female child found along Ocean Parkway near Cedar Beach in 2011. That child, identified as Tatiana Marie Dykes, has now been confirmed as Jackson's daughter. News 12 Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Who Killed...?
The Gilgo Four: A Deep Dive into Shannan Gilbert's Case Pt 2
Author Jesse Pollack joins me to discuss his new book Room 100: Sid, Nancy, and the Night Punk Rock Died and the latest documentary about the Gilgo Four, Gone Girls. One of the primary criticisms is that while "Lost Girls" and "Gone Girls" aim to highlight the stories of the victims, they do not delve deeply enough into their lives. For instance, Shannan Gilbert, who is presented as a central figure, is not explored in a way that reveals her complexities as a person. The documentaries gloss over significant aspects of her life, such as her aspirations to be an actress and singer, her financial struggles, and her experiences with domestic abuse. This lack of detail diminishes the audience's ability to empathize with her and understand the circumstances that led her to sex work. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Who Killed...?
Beth Bramlett
On Saturday August 8, 1982 Beth Bramlett, a 17 year old white female, went to a party at Trading House Lake Reservoir with some of her friends. A fight broke out at the party and Beth decided to leave. That was the last time any of her friends saw Beth alive. At the crime scene, he said, Bramlett’s body was laid across the tracks, face down, and didn’t appear to have been brutalized, but when investigators turned her over, it appeared someone had chewed or gnawed, maybe even eaten a part of her body. Nancy Grace
Thank you to our connection at CrimeCon, Evergreen Execs, FilmRise, and Nancy Grace for making this week's show happen. BLOODLINE DETECTIVES explores the power of genealogy and the latest forensic technology used by law enforcement to bring justice to unsolved homicides and sex crimes. The series uses Familial DNA taken from the crime scene and DNA that people have submitted to genealogy sites to see if there is someone who is a close match. From there, genealogists can figure out who the suspect should be, and police can then make an arrest. Host Nancy Grace guides viewers through each episode's case along with expert interviewers, dramatic reconstructions, and archival footage. —FilmRise Follow Nancy Grace via Social Media Instagram: @theNancyGrace Twitter: @NancyGrace Facebook Learn more about your ad choices.
