What is it now, Karen?
Ep 22. The Christmas Special

Merry Christmas WIINKERS! After a rocky start discussing the covid pandemic and the possibility of the world turning to nuclear ash, Bethany and Joe get into the holiday spirit by talking about the Grinch who literally stole a family's Christmas. The pair share their favourite festive films and question the unusual songs in this year's charts. And as ever, the pair dive into the Facebook comments section and crown the Christmas Karen of the week.

Ep.21 A doo-wopping window cleaner

On episode 21 of WIINK, Joe talks about an interesting leaflet he received through the post advertising window cleaning services and a Benidorm-based doo-wopping group. The pair reflect on the November Poppy Appeal and ask whether a rusty poppy on the grill of a lorry or a 'lest we forget' mini skirt is an appropriate way to pay respects. Plus, find out why our Karen of the week is so ANGRY about early Christmas decorations.

Ep 20. Strictly Come Karen

In episode 20, we're joined by a very special guest! Beth and Joe chat to Matthew about what Daily Express readers think about Strictly Come Dancing's same-sex couple. Plus, Matthew outs Joe as a closet Karen after sharing a story about a trip to the cinema where Joe literally asked to speak to the manager.

Ep 19. Gammony cancel culture snowflakes

We're back! (For real this time!) In the much-anticipated return of WIINK, you'll hear how a pube in the bed and a green omelette didn't ruin Joe's recent staycation and Beth shares her musings on the two different types of coronavirus Karens. The pair talk about Ofcom's new list of potentially offensive terms including labels such as ‘gammon’, ‘remoaner’, snowflake’ and...'Karen'. Plus, find out why Episode 19's Karen of the Week thinks 'gammon' is a racist slur, but 'snowflake' is an accurate description of someone that goes into meltdown easily.

Ep 18. I am me

Reunited and it feels so good! Beth and Joe are back together again to record a very special episode. For the first time ever, the hosts recorded an episode in real life (socially distanced, of course!) instead of Zoom. Expect even more laughter and chaotic energy than usual as the pair chew the fat over what's been happening in the world. And it wouldn't be an episode of WIINK without mentioning Piers Morgan, Laurence Fox and friend-of-podcast Meghan Markle!

Episode 18 features a very special Karen of the Week. It was sent in by WIINK listener Sean who shares his recent terrifying experience of a Karen in a post office. Spoiler alert: it involves a smoke bomb!

Ep 17. Code brown

The WIINK hosts had some time away from the podcast and enjoyed the post-lockdown life - the pair even saw each other rl for the first time this year!

In episode 17, we ask why Karens think young people have a poor work ethic and share personal stories about our part-time school and university jobs. From call centres to cafes and everything else in between, WIINK takes a closer look at the jobs young people do and why they're not always as easy as they appear.

Ep 16. All that millennial claptrap

Episode 16's Karen left no stone unturned in his detailed trolling comments of a TikTok star who posted a 'body positive' video, describing the movement as millennial claptrap. In a WIINK first, the hosts disagree on the main topic of conversation and Joseph's love of playing devil's advocate leaves him vulnerable to sounding like Katie Hopkins.

Ep 15. Save Our Statues!

Our Karen of the Week was sent in by one of our lovely WIINKERs and it's an absolute corker! Find out what the Twitter account 'Save our Statues Robert' thinks about the size of Tory Minister Robert Jenrick's Union Jack flag. We also ask whether BBC presenters, in their quest to be impartial, actually do their viewers and listeners a disservice. Although, I think we can all agree that calling someone a flag sha**ger, while hilarious, might be a bit too far.

Episode 15 delves into the relationships online Karens have with the Union Jack and supersized portraits of Queen Elizabeth II. Plus, find out how Joe's getting on in his driving lessons and why Beth had four(!) driving instructors before eventually passing her test two years after her first lesson.

Ep 14. Señor Patata

On the podcast this week, Beth and Joe talk about the public's reaction to Hasbro changing the brand name of the Mr Potato Head toy. Karen isn't happy that snowflakes have ruined her favourite childhood memory. And yes...she's ANGRY. Find out what our hosts think about the new 'gender-neutral' name, and what their favourite toys were growing up, in this nostalgia-fuelled episode.

Ep 13. I wore my clip-in ponytail for this?

In a WIINK first, Bethany and Joe are joined by a special guest in this week's episode. As well as being a friend of the show, Chloe Baird is also a very talented designer and is the brains behind the WIINK logo and artwork. The trio gives their opinions on the recent story about a Morrison's shopper who refused to wear a mask exemption yellow sticker with the humour and zest you expect from WIINK. As a disabled person, Chloe gives her insight into what it's really like living with a disability and the daily struggles and biases she faces.

Ep 12. Plaque-infested tooth gem

We're back! It's only been a few weeks but Bethany is sporting a 2008 side fringe and is reminiscing about tooth gems in the latest episode of WIINK. Is she having a meltdown or is it a fashion statement? You'll need to listen to find out! In the first episode of 2021, the pair talk about the 'Courtside Karen' who heckled LeBron James at a basketball game and reminisce about their experiences of angry parents at football games and competitive dance maws. Plus, they discuss the sad news of Sir Captain Tom Moore's passing and ask whether a papier mache head or a pair or customised Adidas trainers are an appropriate mark of respect.

Ep 11. The Christmas Special

'Tis the season to be jolly. And, to be offended by 'woke' Christmas songs and be outraged that you just don't see enough white people on Christmas ads these days. In The Christmas Special of WIINK, the hosts discuss the outrage at the Sainsbury's Christmas advert and the BBC's censorship of a Fairytale of New York. Plus, find out what the pair's favourite Christmas songs are and what they'll be tucking in to on the big day.

Ep 10. Fannydabbydozi

All good things must come to an end. And after 10 Karen-packed episodes, we're saying goodbye to season 1 of WIINK. In a gin and wine-fuelled celebration, Beth and Joe give us their take recent changes to Scottish government legislation; free period products and the smacking ban. The pair discuss the future of WIINK and reflect on their time as newbie podcasters. WIINK's season 1 finale is a fannydabbbydozi!

Ep 9. US Election and Saturday Night special

It's Saturday night, baby! In a special episode of WIINK, the hosts enjoy a few drinks to celebrate the results of the US election and Scotland's footballing success. Plus, a listener gets in touch to share a story about a 'colleague' who requested to speak to a manager in Aldi after a jobsworth cashier refused to sell her alcohol; who is the Karen in this situation? Listen to episode 9 to hear Beth and Joe's take on this story and a whole lot more.

Ep 8. The manager of all managers

*Disclaimer: The WIINK IT department had a number of technical difficulties this week, so the sound quality is of a lower standard than usual. We uploaded this episode for all our loyal listeners who still wanted to hear it, but if you're new here, you might want to check out our other episodes where the sound quality is much better.*

Episode 8 of WIINK is packed with everything you'd expect - angry Karens and the tongue-and-cheek sarcastic responses from our hosts, Beth and Joe. After a quick re-visit to the Meghan Markle debate, the pair turn to their Karens of the week, chatting about the recent vote against feeding school children during the holidays. Plus, they delve into a topic that leaves one angry Karen threatening to contact trading standards; veganism.

After a short hiatus for bathroom renovations at WIINK HQ, Beth and Joe delve deep in to a topic they've never discussed before...the royal family. And if that wasn't enough, they also discuss actor-turned-politician Laurence Fox's boycott of Sainsburys and rank their favourite supermarkets from best to worst. Episode 7 of WIINK is not one you'll want to miss!

After their ban on any conversation relating to coronavirus in last week's episode, Bethany and Joseph are back and they're...talking about coronavirus. The pair have their first disagreement talking about fake news spreading via WhatsApp and the way university students are being treated in campus lockdowns. Episode 6 is packed with opinion, controversy and lots of LOLs - not one you'll want to miss!

Ep 5. A liberal's womb

In an attempt to avoid conversation around COVID-19 (which is actually quite difficult in these unprecedented times), Bethany and Joseph do a deep dive in to the Karen section of Twitter to find out what they're moaning about this week. In episode 5, they chat about a Trump-supporting Karen who dismisses Ruth Bader Ginsburg because of her stance on abortion, and another Karen gets very, very cross at road signs. Yes, even road signs can't escape the wrath of an angry Karen. Plus, another anonymous WIINK listener reveals their recent Karen moment when they contacted the police on a group of youths socialising in a local park.

Plus, an anonymous WIINK listener recalls their recent Karen moment when the macaroni cheese they ordered at a local restaurant wasn't up to scratch.
