A Slow Return to "Normalcy"

NOTE: Laurel’s email address was misstated in the episode. Her email is laurel.auth@simmons.edu

Students admitted to Simmons begin touring campus with precautions amidst construction on the academic campus, and the return of students to the residential campus as Residental Life offers mid-semester housing.

Despite the hope of a new normal one yeast into the COVID-19 pandemic, experts say that reaching this anniversary could bring about unexpected mental health challenges. Dr. Hugo Kamya, a professor at the Simmons School of Social Work, and Dr. Daniel O’Brien, a Northeastern professor who is leading research on the effect of the pandemic on Bostoanins,’ share their insight, and how to cope with widespread trauma reactions.

We share parts of The Shark’s music director, Laurel Auth’s chat with Jake McKelvie of Jake McKelvie & the Countertops. To hear their full conversation about their latest album, recording process, and the changes in the Boston music scene, check out The Shark’s podcast feed.

With the 40th Simmons Leadership Conference a week away, we prepare for our coverage of the event.

If you have an interest in participating in The Shark at Home, reach out to Laurel at laurel.auth@simmons.edu.
