They finally did it. The boys have done a commentary for the oft mentioned episode of Parks and Recreation that features the Decembies. Fire up your favorite streaming service (but it pretty much has to be Peacock, at least in the States) and watch along to Season 6 Episodes 21-22 of Parks and Rec with Matt and Pete. Things that are discussed: Cones of Dunshire, various actors that have been Me-Too'ed, whether or not commentary episodes are a good idea (they are), The Decemberists (barely). We're almost to the end of WBPT season 2! Just one more episode after this one!
This week the boys are joined by NO ONE to talk about the two most nerdy things they like: The Decemberists and Board Games. The Decemberists participated in the creation of a card game called Illimat. Pete (who has secretly been a board game designer this entire time!?) walks us through Illimat, how it came to be, and where it belongs in The Decemberists canon. Truly, a feast for the ears and mind!
Also, we're taking next week off, so we'll see you July 19th!
PS: Here's a link buy the game:

We don't get any money if you buy the game. We just really like it.
On this VERY SPECIAL EPISODE, WBPT has its first guest host; Steve Wissinger!
Is this functionally the same as having him as a guest? Maybe. But Matt and Pete didn't have to do any research this time because Steve came in hot with a bunch of info on today's topic: Offa Rex.
For those of you that live under a rock, Offa Rex is a one off (so far) side project/cover band featuring all of the current members of the band "The Decemberists" and English singer/songwriter Olivia Chaney.
Check out this awesome playlist Steve made of all the songs covered in today's episode (colloquially referred to as "the homework") : https://open.spotify.com/playlist/15zVkGsh6lo5QgCmGtL0Dr?si=d2ac6a9dbfd34c05
The Boys are joined by Justin Blair Spaeth to discuss Colin Meloy's solo work: his live album (Colin Meloy Sings Live!), and his 4 cover EP's (Sings Morrisey, Sings Shirley Colins, Sings Sam Cooke, and Sings the Kinks). As usual, we are relentlessly mean to our favorite ginger Decemberists fan. I have no idea why he puts up with our abuse, but we're glad he does.
An episode Pete described as the most masturbatory episode we've ever done. In this episode The Boys take some time to recalibrate and reassert their musical tastes by talking about what they've been listening to since the end of WBPT season 1. Pete reveals his secret hip-hop proclivities while Matt explains his K-pop fandom in a way that makes it sound like he's into K-pop for reasons other than the music (Which is not the case! He really just likes pop music sometimes!). A classic Pete/Matt hang out, mess-around chat.
It's been almost 4 years since the last episode, and with a new Decemberists album looming, the Boys are back to discuss/belittle their favorite band. In this episode, (a very sleepy) Matt and Pete are joined by returning guest (our first three-timer!) Steve Wissinger, to talk about the first two tracks released from As it Ever Was, So it Will Be Again; "Burial Ground" and "Joan in the Garden".
Also in this episode, Pete tries to rally everyone's spirits with a new segment, then Steve counters with a segment of his own, which Pete takes over and makes his segment. It's pandemonium.
Welcome to We Both Podcast Together Season 2!
Pete and Matt are joined by fan favorite (probably) guest Mason Redmon to talk about The Decemberists two Christmas songs, Decemberists side project Black Prairie, Canadian Sitcoms, Canadian crooners that hate Jesus, Alan Jackson, Creed, Die Hard, and, of course, 9/11. This is a wild one folks, truly a magical Christmas Journey. Happy Holidays! See you in 2021!
This week the boys are taking a listen to Colin's band when he was in college: Tarkio. The lads are joined by Justin Spaeth, who still reads a lot of books you guys, he's very smart. Also discussed: Mormons, Catholics, The Irish, and at some point Matt conflates two Sean Connery (RIP) movies titles and confuses it for a non-Sean movie {(Highlander + Outland) - Sean Connery = Outlander}.
It's Halloween! (or close enough), and the lads get spooky talking about a collection of Decemberists tracks that only appear on various compilations/charity albums/soundtracks. Also discussed: ghosts, the election, and, weirdly, Saturday Night Live for an unusual amount of time considering both Pete and Matt claim not to watch it. It's a horrifyingly good episode!
PS: Stick around till the very end for an extra dose of fright!
Pete and Matt bring the first season of We Both Podcast Together to a close by ranking all of the Decemberists' albums and picking their favorite tracks. They also spend a lot of time talking about fast food burgers and Matt's incredibly logical and well thought out reason for hating dog owners.
On this episodes, Matt and Pete discuss The Decemberists most recent release to date; the EP Traveling on. Despite Matt's clear lack of enthusiasm for the album, a good time is had by all... or is it? You'll just have to listen to find out!
In this episode, Matt and Pete are joined by former guest and occasional fan of the show, Kaylen Wissinger, to talk about "I'll Be Your Girl", the most recent studio album by The Decemberists. Also discussed; Sam Richardson, unverified Wikipedia entries, and what better podcasts Kaylen listens to instead of this one. It's a real boner,* folks!
*This will make more sense after you listen to the episode.
The Rake and the Roustabout are at it again! In this mini-episode, Matt and Pete talk about the post "What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World" EP, "Florasongs". Also in this episode, Pete tries to shame Matt for not liking Broken Social Scene enough and Matt refuses to believe "Riverswim" exists.
This week, Matt and Pete are joined by Mason Redmon, a casual Decemberists fan who came into his fandom relatively recently. Together they discuss "What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World", time travel, "True Detective", and lot of other things that really help us earn our explicit tag this week. This one's a doozy folks.
This week the boys are joined by returning guest, and current We Both Podcast Together beard champion, Justin Spaeth to talk about a couple of release; Long Live the King, the companion EP to The King is Dead, and We All Raise our Voices to the Air, The Decemberists only live album. Also discussed; Presidents that may or may not have their faces on mountains (and that may or may not be presidents), The American Pie series, and whether live albums are worth listening to. Enjoy!
Matt and Pete talk about The Decemberists' best-selling, grammy award nominated, crowd-pleaser of an Album, "The King is Dead". This week they are joined this week by AJ Ward, perhaps better known as folk-rock artist Sleeping Cranes, who has the misfortune of having to defend this more casual Decemberists album against two Decemby fanboys who are butt-hurt that there aren't more songs about pirates on the record.
Matt and Pete are joined by none other than Steve Wissinger, our first repeat guest, to discuss The Decemberists' 2009 masterpiece*, "The Hazards of Love." Also discussed, if Shakespeare sucks**, if wind chimes are lame***, and what kind of magical powers faun/boys have. Strap on your favorite podcast listening device, and get ready to be whisked away to the magical world of "The Hazards of Love."
* according to Matt
** he does, according to Matt
*** they aren't, according to Matt. Because of the comedy rule of threes, you were probably expecting this to be a joke. It wasn't, but this is; What did the shovel say to the pole with twigs attached to it after it murdered three of its children? What are you, some kind of Rake? The episode is much better than this joke.
This week, Matt and Pete discuss the bevy of bonus tracks that came with The Crane Wife, and the EP series that The Decemberists put out between TCW* and The Hazards of Love.
*Note: Neither Matt nor Pete endorse calling The Crane Wife TCW, it's harder to say and has more syllables. It's a terrible abbrevaitio. (That's not a typo, that's a shorter version of abbreviation you can all use if you want to save some time. You're welcome.)
