Ep 66: Choosing Friends

This week on the WADT podcast, we discuss a very important aspect of childhood: making friends. As children grow, they will be making more and more of the decisions that affect their lives themselves. One of those decisions is who to choose as friends. Ep 65 : Hari Raya Puasa

Hari Raya Puasa or Eidul Fitri is here. Many know, for a month before that, Muslims “puasa” or fast by not eating and drinking from dawn until dusk. Many also see Muslims go visiting in colourful attire, not just for the day but even for the whole month. Also, not to mention the Hari Raya bazaar in Geylang Serai and Kampong Glam, where you see some food and drinks that only appear during this season. However, like for other religions, many may not know what are its significance and which practices during Hari Raya Puasa that are religious or cultural. There may also be questions that you may have about it but afraid to ask.

No fret, today we have Ustaz Khalid Rafi to enlighten us. Before that, let me introduce him. A father of…, he is a Research Executive at Wak Tanjong Mosque. He also holds a Bachelor in Syariah from the University of Madinah and a Masters degree from RSIS, Nanyang Technological University in Asian Studies, specialising in ‘Studies in Inter-Religious Relations in Plural Societies’. He enjoys engaging the public through inter-religious dialogues to promote mutual respect and understanding for a progressive community.

Ep 62: Eat, Sleep and Move

Our children are not moving enough, not sleeping enough, and eating too much. Is this issue a hot potato? We think it is and we’ll be discussing it today.

Ep 57: Women: Worthy of Honour

The International Women’s Day is celebrated globally on March 8 to commemorate the achievements of women. It is celebrated in different ways in different parts of the world. WADT is marking this important day by talking about women, specifically about how to respect and honour them because they are worthy of them.

You will notice something different about our podcast today. instead of there being just two co-hosts (Hafiz and Parcsen), there are four. Joining us are two younger co-host: Kevin Goh and Fannie Lim. Kevin was our guest on the previous episode and he will be joining us as a co-host starting today. Although WADT is primarily a podcast on fatherhood and manhood, having a female co-host will add an additional perspective and make our conversations even more interesting. An important fact about Fannie is that she is married to Kevin and the two of them have 3 children, ages 11, 9 and 7. Ep 56: Importance of making friends

Welcome to the WADT podcast. In today’s digital world, it is not uncommon for someone to have hundreds, or even thousands of ‘friends’ on Facebook. But having so many online connections has not improved the quality of life for many. In fact, it has resulted in anxiety and depression of some, especially among the young. What is more important that the number of friends is the number of quality friendships you have. Today, Hafiz and Parcsen will be talking about the importance of making friends.

Ep 54: To drink or not to drink

Welcome to the WADT podcast. Do you drink? And by that I mean alcoholic drinks like beer, wine, and different types of spirits. Singaporeans consumed on average around two liters of alcohol each in 2018, which was among the lowest in Asia-Pacific. This was partly due to the heavy taxation of alcoholic beverages in Singapore. Even so, health officials were concerned about a rise in unhealthy drinking habits among the young because of the harm alcohol has on the body. In this episode, we will reveal the truth about alcohol so that you will be better informed the next time you have a drink.

Is it true that men have a greater sex drive than women? Is sex a need for men? We will asking Eugene Chong, Principal Counselling Psychologist at Seeding Minds these questions and more. We will also be talking about porn and masturbation. In Episode 20, we had Dr. Muhd Taufiq on as our guest to talk about Men and Sex. If you missed that episode, do listen to it.
