In this episode of Voices of Blue Peace Middle East, we spotlight how youth-led organizations, as well as cross-border initiatives, are shaping a more water-sustainable future for the region through regional cooperation and policy engagement.
Our guests bring unique insights from the field:

Samar has represented the initiative at various international climate and water-related conferences and summits, including World Water Week in Stockholm, the East Mediterranean Summit, and the Regional Conference of Youth for the Middle East and North Africa. Over the past three years, she has worked as a consultant for UNICEF in Lebanon and continues to volunteer as a mentor and trainer for youth on environmental and human rights issues.
Sawsan Melhem – Environmental engineer with 21+ years of experience in Syria, Qatar, and the UK. She explores how both Blue Peace Middle East and EU Aqua Dialogues models could be adapted to post-conflict Syria, identifying practical steps for rebuilding water systems and environmental governance. Drawing from her work on major engineering projects in Qatar and her current role in London, she shares critical lessons and guidance for countries emerging from crisis.
Omima Abdelnasser– Strategic Communications and Development Consultant, and Co-Founder of the EU Aqua Dialogues initiative. She discusses how to give youth a real voice in policymaking, the importance of “water citizenship,” and strategies to raise awareness across all levels of society on the importance of cross-border water cooperation.
