Life Together - Church as Family || Alice Meads

Sunday 9th November 2025 - West and North Sites

Sunday 30th November 2025 - Central AM & PM

Speaker - Alice Meads

Alice continues with our Life Together series, looking at the metaphor of the Church as our family.

____________

Colossians 3v10-14

10) Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. 11) In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us. 12) Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13) Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14) Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

Life Together - The Body of Christ || Gary Smith

Sunday 26th October 2025 - West and North Sites

Speaker - Gary Smith

Gary continues with our Life Together series, looking at the way we are all called to be unique parts of the Lord's body.

____________

1 Corinthians 12 v 12-27

12)  Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13)  For we were all baptised by one Spirit so as to form one body – whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free – and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14)  And so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

15)  Now if the foot should say, ‘Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,’ it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16)  And if the ear should say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,’ it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17)  If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18)  But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19)  If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20)  As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21)  The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you!’ And the head cannot say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you!’ 22)  On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23)  and the parts that we think are less honourable we treat with special honour. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24)  while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honour to the parts that lacked it, 25)  so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26)  If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it.

27)  Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Sunday 12th October 2025 - North Site

Speaker - Ellie Welsh

Ellie takes a look at the question "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attentin to the plank in your own eye?" Jesus asked this question of His followers in the Sermon on the Mount.

____________

Matthew 7 v 1-5

1) ‘Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2)  For in the same way as you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3)  ‘Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4)  How can you say to your brother, “Let me take the speck out of your eye,” when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5)  You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Called to Community in a Fragmented World || James Rankine

Sunday 5th October 2025 - North Site and Central PM

Speaker - James Rankine

James kicks off our new series entitled "Life Together", explaining how participating in community is part of the Lord's plan for His Church.

____________

Ephesians 2 v 18-22 (NIV)

18) For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. 19) Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20) built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21) In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22) And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Ephesians 2 v 18-22 (The Message)

Christ brought us together through his death on the cross. The Cross got us to embrace, and that was the end of the hostility. Christ came and preached peace to you outsiders and peace to us insiders. He treated us as equals, and so made us equals. Through him we both share the same Spirit and have equal access to the Father. That's plain enough, isn't it? You're no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You're no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He's using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he's using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day—a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.

Try Church Sunday - A Homecoming Faith || Alice Meads

Sunday 28th September 2025 - West and North Sites

Speaker - Alice Meads

For our special Try Church Sunday service, Alice recounts the story that Jesus told that we know as "The Prodigal Son", which reveals the heart of God the Father towards us.

____________

Luke 15: 11- 32

11) Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12) The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

13) “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14) After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15) So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16) He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

17) “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18) I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19) I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20) So he got up and went to his father.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21) “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

22) “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23) Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24) For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

25) “Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26) So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27) ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’

28) “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29) But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30) But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’

31) “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32) But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

Rule of Life || James Rankine

Sunday 7th September 2025 - West and North Sites

Sunday 14th September 2025 - Central AM & PM

Speaker - James Rankine

James encourages us to adopt a rhythm of behaviour with habits designed - as Paul teaches us in is letter to Timothy - to "train yourselves to be godly"

____________

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.

Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will. That I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.

Amen.

____________

1 Timothy 4 v 7-8

7) Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. 8) For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

____________

Matthew 16 v 13-2013)

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”

15) “But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?”

16) Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

17) Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.  18)  And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.  19) I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”  20) Then He ordered His disciples not to tell anyone that He was the Messiah.

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world... || Questions Jesus Asked || Sam Taylor

Sunday 17th August 2025 - North Site

Speaker - Sam Taylor

Sam continues with our Summer series - Questions Jesus Asked - and takes us through the question He asked His followers towards the end of Mark 8: "What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?"

____________

Mark 8 v 27-38

27)  Jesus and His disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way He asked them, ‘Who do people say I am?’

28)  They replied, ‘Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.’

29)  ‘But what about you?’ He asked. ‘Who do you say I am?’

Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah.’

30)  Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about Him.

31)  He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that He must be killed and after three days rise again. 32)  He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.

33)  But when Jesus turned and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter. ‘Get behind Me, Satan!’ He said. ‘You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.’

34)  Then He called the crowd to him along with His disciples and said: ‘Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Me. 35)  For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for Me and for the gospel will save it. 36)  What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? 37)  Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 38)  If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when He comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels.’

What are you discussing? || Questions Jesus Asked || Alice Le Blond

Sunday 10th August 2025 - North Site

Speaker - Alice Le Blond

Alice continues with the series "Questions Jesus Asked", taking a look at the story in Luke 24, when the risen Jesus met the two disciples on the road to Emmaus.

____________

Luke 24 v 13-35

13) Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles[a] from Jerusalem. 14) They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15) As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16) but they were kept from recognizing him.

17) He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”

They stood still, their faces downcast. 18) One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”

19) “What things?” he asked.

“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20) The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21) but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22) In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23) but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24) Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”

25) He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26) Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27) And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

28) As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29) But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.

30) When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31) Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32) They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

33) They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34) and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35) Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

Chris continues our series "Questions Jesus Asked", looking at the questions He asked in Luke 13 v 18-21: “What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to?"

____________

Luke 13 v 18-21

18)  Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? 19)  It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches.”

20)  Again he asked, “What shall I compare the kingdom of God to? 21) It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.”

Do You Love Me? || Questions Jesus Asked || Gary Smith

Sunday 3rd August 2025 - West and North Sites

Speaker - Gary Smith

Gary continues with our Summer series "Questions Jesus Asked", looking at the story of Peter's encounter with Jesus on the beach after His resurrection, as recorded in John 21 v 1-19

____________

1)  Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. It happened this way: 2)  Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3)  “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

4)  Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.

5)  He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”

“No,” they answered.

6)  He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

7)  Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. 8)  The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards. 9)  When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.

10)  Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” 11)  So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. 12)  Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13)  Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. 14)  This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.

15) When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

16)  Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”

17)  The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18)  Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19)  Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”

Alice continues with our Summer series "Questions Jesus Asked", looking at the story of Bartimaeus in Mark 10 v 46-52.

____________

Mark 10 v 46-52

46) Then they reached Jericho, and as Jesus and his disciples left town, a large crowd followed Him. A blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) was sitting beside the road. 47) When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

48 “Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him.

But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

49) When Jesus heard him, He stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.”

So they called the blind man. “Cheer up,” they said. “Come on, He’s calling you!” 50) Bartimaeus threw aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus.

51) “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked.

“My Rabbi,” the blind man said, “I want to see!”

52) And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.

____________

Mark 4 v 35-41

35) That day when evening came, He said to His disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36) Leaving the crowd behind, they took Him along, just as He was, in the boat. There were also other boats with Him. 37) A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38) Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

39) He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

40) He said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41) They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!”

Alice takes us through the story that Jesus told of the Prodigal Son, and explains that our faith is very much about homecoming.

____________

Luke 15 v 11- 32

11) Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12) The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

13) Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.

17) When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18) I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19) I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’

20) So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21) The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

22) But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23) Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24) For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

25) Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26) So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27) ‘Your brother hascome,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calfbecause he has him back safe and sound.’

28 The older brother became angry and refused to go in.

31) ‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, andeverything I have is yours. 32) But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’

Now Go! - Power Evangelism: Demonstrating the Kingdom || Chris Lawrence

Sunday 15th June 2025 - CCAM & PM

Speaker - Chris Lawrence

Chris continues the "Now Go!" series, further encouraging us to share the Good News of Jesus in our daily lives. He emphasizes that evangelism is a natural expression of faith for all of us - it isn't something that we should expect only people with a special ministry or calling to do.

Chris urges us to express our God-given authority to heal and preach, calling on us to seek first the Kingdom, and to pray persistently for God to intervene in the lives of those around us.

____________

1 Corinthians 2:1-5

1) And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.  2) For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3) I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4) My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5) so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
