Together, navigating the ups and downs of life! Utar Chadhav(ups and downs) is a mental health podcast. We aim to bring forward nuanced stories of mental health from the trenches in Nepal. We are setting out to rob social taboos of their power by gently turning over the rocks of common, authoritarian, black-and-white judgments to reveal the gray underbelly of lived experiences, so these judgments lose some of their power to cause mental distress.

Ep. 7: Jab We Met

eric and raji met in the summer of 2009 at a party. For raji meeting eric changed the course of their life. eric brought an intentionality that raji always craved for. They started having candid conversations about pleasure and desire. Last year raji asked eric if he would want to record a conversation about pleasure and inspiration the next time they met.

And so in May of 2025, they went camping and recorded this conversation over the course of two days.

What does infusing joy and intentionality in our day to day lives, in our relationships look like? What does the journey look like and what does looking back at our younger selves, teach us and/or remind us about what we have always valued? How do we discern purpose that is imposed on us vs. purpose that grows from learning from experiences and influences we are open to?

Here’s to the joys of loitering and time traveling!

Let us know where this conversation transports you in your own journey. Listen with a friend, and engage with these questions:

Who taught you how to have fun? What is your pleasure lineage? (borrowed from Pleasure Activism by amb).

Something you used to believe about pleasure and desire that doesn’t serve you any more? (borrowed from we are not really strangers XXX)

What does sober joy look like when we are talking about pleasure?

--

This season we are diving into conversations on pleasure and inspiration. We are excited to show you the process of how different conversations become one complete episode.

Join us as we bring to you raw snippets with a lot of ummm-hmmm you would otherwise not hear from our conversations, straight from our new studio space for your auditory pleasure.

Co-Hosts: eric and raji

Production, Audio, Mixing: raji and Saru
