(Peety Ear-Full 5) Uncle Sam and donut holes.
SAM SMITH makes his entrance known as his niece, SARAH noisily pushes his wheel chair into the waiting room. PEETY and her parents take notice of SAM's appearance realizing he doesn't look well, and are amazed that despite this, he is incessantly eating donut holes. PEETY shares a poem she was inspired to write with her parents and all are surprised by SAM's response, since they weren't aware he was even listening. ALFREDO tries to distract his daughter, who he can tell is ready to give SAM a piece of her mind, by asking her to ask the OFFICE MANGER for the latest update on when he will be seen. PEETY and SARAH talk about her uncle, SAM SMITH and how his hurtful words should be ignored. SARAH is concerned that her uncle's condition is more urgent than others, but did what he told her to do, and she did it. PEETY complains they aren't very organized.

PEETY is concerned that her father's primary care doctor hasn't sent the needed referral to this office, and is annoyed by the OFFICE MANAGER's attitude and the latest setback. PEETY shares the bad news with her parents and PETRA decides to call their doctor's assistant to straighten everything out. PEETY notices her mom's not the picture of health and is concerend that her parents aren't taking care of themsleves. PETRA tries to make her daughter understand what is like to get old and the difficultites of having to adjust to the ineviable loss of abilities we used to take for granted.

PEETY explains the importance of being honest with your doctor, when ALFREDO seems reluctant to share his family history. PETRA begins to feel left out of her husband and daughter’s private conversations.

While she realizes she wants to help both her parents, she understands that may not always be possible.
