Episode 415: 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric, 2026 Honda HR-V

This week, the Unnamed Automotive Podcast jams out with some subcompact crossovers. The show starts with Sami's review of the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric, a perfectly fine EV that is a bit overshadowed by its market. With the competition offering better value, Sami and Benjamin argue that a used Hyundai Kona Electric is the smart choice for EV shoppers on a tight budget.

Then the guys turn their focus to the 2026 Honda HR-V. Using Sami's previous experience as background information on his tester, Benjamin starts off thinking the Honda subcompact is pretty solid, but after spending more time with it, he wonders if there's a worse choice in the segment. Thanks for listening!

Episode 413: 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera T, 2025 Kia EV6

The Unnamed Automotive Podcast gets their hand on an iconic sports car and a sleek new EV this week. The show starts off with Sami's review of the 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera T, the only 911 with a manual transmission. That MT comes with a bunch of bits and bobs too, but there are 14 other 911 trims to choose from, with more power, more tech and more speed... what makes this one feel so good?

Then Benjamin tackles a listener question about wagons by reviewing the 2025 Kia EV6, a long-roofed electric car, that may fit the bill as a wagon. However, this year, Kia made a huge change to the charging port of its mainstream EV, and it may ruffle a few feathers. Thanks for listening!

Episode 412: Benjamin Bought A New Car, 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Towing Test

This week, the Unnamed Automotive Podcast discusses Benjamin's newest addition to his garage; a second-generation Nissan Pathfinder! Find out what led him to this Japanese SUV, and what makes it so interesting (hint, it has something to do with its transmission!)

Then Benjamin shares how his latest trip to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park went as he towed his way to the track in a Silverado HD 2500. Hear answers to questions like "did it have adaptive cruise control?" and "how much worse was the fuel consumption while towing?" and "do you need all that truck to tow a car?" Thanks for listening!

Episode 411: 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, 2025 Cadillac Escalade Gas, Cars From Jordan

Following our summer spin-off episodes, the show returns to its normal off the wall self, as our hosts catch up on what's been going on. First up, Benjamin shares his thoughts on the large and technically impressive 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ. His review covers both the good and the bad of this gargantuan EV. He also comments on Cadillac's approach of stuffing its large SUV with everything possible, and whether its a sensible, sustainable model of EV development.

Benjamin then shares how the Cadillac IQ compares to the gas powered model, which is now only available with a thirsty V8, rather that the loveable diesel. While these two share a name, they seem wildly different, but a few important factors keep them so appealing. Thanks for listening!

Today's episode is the debut of our "Market Price" feature, where Sami quizzes Benjamin about various optional extras on a few popular cars, both mainstream and exotic. Episode 410: 2025 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, BMW Takes Risks

The Unnamed Automotive Podcast jumps right into summer with a fun review of the 2025 Ford Mustang GT Convertible. A droptop with a V8? You got it! Benjamin details the ins and outs of this nearly-500-hp machine, and Sami questions him on the progress that Ford has made with its pony car over the past few decades.

Then Sami recaps his thoughts on the 2025 BMW X3 M50, which boasts tons of power and a funky approach to interior design. It has Sami rethinking his entire thought process revolving the German automaker, and the hosts talk more about what that means. Then the guys give a short primer for what to expect in the next few episodes. Thanks for listening!

Episode 409: 2025 Volvo EX90, 2025 BMW M5 Touring, Listener Questions

We can thank TECHNOLOGY for bringing us the Unnamed Automotive Podcast this week, but we can also BLAME it for making Sami's life difficult during his week-long test of the 2025 Volvo EX90 EV. With a huge battery, over 500-hp and plenty of driving range, the EX90 should be a slam dunk in the world of three-row EVs, but Sami shares the many frustrations he experienced while driving this vehicle. Most issues revolve around the infotainment system and a minimalist approach to controls, which makes usually easy tasks quite distracting.

Then Benjamin shares his thoughts on the all-new, and finally available in the US, 2025 BMW M5 Touring (Wagon.) The big, plug-in hybrid, high-performance wagon shows it can be a bit of everything in one tidy package. Is that special enough? Why is Sami so over it already? The guys talk about their thoughts on this amazing BMW and figure out 'why now?"

And finally, the hosts tackle some listener questions and comments about the Hyundai Santa Cruz, and the scary future of used car software. Thanks for listening!

Episode 408: 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz XRT, 2025 Nissan Ariya

The Unnamed Automotive Podcast tackles a pair of uncommon vehicles this week. The show starts with Benjamin's review of the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz XRT model, which emphasizes a more rugged and tough approach to compact trucking. Benjamin explains how it compares to the recently reviewed 2025 Ford Maverick, and whether Hyundai is capable of building a truck that works for North American needs.

Then Sami chimes in with his review of the 2025 Nissan Ariya, which offers a lot of the same features and technologies found on other EVs on the market. Our hosts ask what makes the Ariya special in this segment, and struggle to come up with a definitive answer, despite Nissan's past leadership in the EV space. Thanks for listening!

Episode 407: 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo, 2025 Porsche Macan EV, 2025 Toyota Crown Signia

This Weeks Unnamed Automotive Podcast begins with a thorough review of the 2025 Ford Maverick, which has been refreshed. Featuring a new drivetrain and a new street truck Lobo trim, the pickup gives Benjamin plenty to talk about, but its new price point seems to be a silver bullet in this whole cheap truck thing.

Then Sami reviews the 2025 Macan 4 EV, which boasts tons of range and plentiful performance, leaving our host to ask "what else do you want?" It turns out, a cheaper MSRP, nicer interior and a reason for two charge ports would be the answer to that question.

Finally, Benjamin shares some barely coherent thoughts on the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia. Dismissed by Sami as something that is barely more than a Toyota Camry, Benjamin shows up to defend the Signia's honour, while completely ignoring its price and performance. Sometimes vibes is all you need.

Episode 406: 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, 2025 Toyota Corolla GR Automatic

The Unnamed Automotive Podcast gets their helmets on, beefs up their suspension, and hits the unpaved road this week as our hosts review two rally-inspired cars. The show starts off with Benjamin's review of the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, which gets more power, stylish upgrades and extra armor for its battery, all for tackling the great unpaved wilderness. However, weight and grip may have shifted Benjamin's experience with this all-weather EV.

Then Sami jumps into an honest-to-goodness, high-performance Toyota, with the GR Corolla. Yes, it's designed by Toyota, developed by Toyota and made by them too, but in this episode, Sami gets to try out the automatic version of this rally-oriented hot hatch. The conversation drifts its way through the typical hot-hatch territory, as the guys talk about some of their favorites in the segment. Thanks for listening!

Episode 405: 2025 Mercedes-Benz G550, 2025 Land Rover Range Rover 7 Passenger LWB

You are cordially invited to the episode 405 of the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, where the hosts will deliberate on two of the most high-end SUVs available on the market. Grab your monocles, have a plate of caviar, and take a seat upon one of our exclusive thrones made solely of materials mined only from the dark side of the moon.

This weeks show starts off with Benjamins sharp witted review of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G550. A high-end SUV with humble beginnings and limited generational changes, this time around it's got a whole new motor, design and high class interior, one so fancy that Benjamin had to take extra precautions when hauling stuff around. What does the G-Class mean these days? Is it something to be celebrated or shunned for being too excessive?

Then the guys take some time to talk about the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography, a seven-seat ode to royal British motoring. Outfitted with the right equipment for towing, hauling, and ferrying passengers around, Benjamin explains how the experience in this SUV was totally different than the Benz, even though the two vehicles share similar price points. Thanks for listening!

Episode 404: 2025 Honda Odyssey Black Edition, 2025 Cadillac CT5, Slate EV Pickup

Why isn't a minivan considered a "long roof"? Why don't we name all cars based on their roofs? What's the right plural of roof? These questions and more are answered this week on the Unnamed Automotive Podcast! The show starts off with a review of the 2025 Honda Odyssey minivan, as Sami wonders why this Japanese van lacks the fun features many of its rivals have (and explains where the HondaVac went to.) But he comes across loving its single-minded approach to family transportation. What's holding the Odyssey, and other minivans, from getting widepsread appreciation? The guys give you the definitive answer.

Then Benjamn shares his thoughts on the 2025 Cadillac CT5 - the entry-level model to boot! A tweener sedan with a high-tech cabin, the CT5 is likely missing on many buyers short-lists, but Ben says it may have earned a spot among those checking out smaller and less featured European options.

Finally, our guys talk about the new Slate EV, a bare-bones $25,000 EV pickup a ton of customizability. Is this what people want? Let us know through our contact form or reach out to us on social media!

Episode 403: 2025 Aston Martin DBX 707, 2025 Acura MDX A-Spec

First the show starts off with a review of the 2025 Aston Martin DBX 707, a ultra-high-performance exotic from one of the top British automakers. Faced with all kinds of inclement weather during his testing, Benjamin has a thorough take on this hyper SUV, and comes to a decisive conclusion about it, especially in comparison to some other high-hp SUVs out there.

Then Sami offers several impressions of the 2025 Acura MDX A-Spec, which gets a mild exterior refresh and some important interior changes too. While the vehicle feels responsive with a well-tuned powertrain and ride, Sami says it fails to make an impact in a very competitive segment. The guys also jump through a few thoughts about in-car audio systems, and if 31 speakers is too many or just enough. Thanks for listening!

Episode 402: 2025 Mini Countryman SE ALL4 EV, 2025 Honda HR-V, Listener Question

The show starts off with Benjamin's review of the 2025 Mini Cooper Countryman SE All4, an all wheel drive, electric 'ute that manages to stay small, affordable and impressive to drive. What's the downside? Try the weird user interface and get back to us; or don't and listen to Benjamins gripes of the infotainment system, and his overall take on this Mini EV.

Then Sami tries his hardest to not talk about the 2025 Honda HR-V, by first discussing the history of the Fit subcompact, and the era of Honda when it wasn't afraid of doing things it's own way. The new HR-V is lacking any personality, while being worse than many of its rivals in key specs like fuel economy and pricing. Sami asks what's the point?

The guys finish up by discussing lease-friendly EVs to answer a listener question.

Episode 401: 2025 Acura RDX, 2024 Ford Ranger XLT

The Unnamed Automotive Podcast breaks into the big 4-0-0, but this week's episode lacks much fanfare or frills. After a brief discussion about the 399+ episodes that came before today, the guys dive right into talking about the new cars they've been testing. Sami delivers his verdict of the 2025 Acura RDX, a luxury SUV that goes against some very impressive rivals and has a few things to rave about, but a few more things that question the brand's commitment to the segment.

Then Benjamin talks about a new powertrain option found in the Ford Ranger, one that may be faster than other, more performance oriented trucks. While the Ranger is smaller than an F-Series, it has a few important benefits, and Benjamin runs you through them all. Thanks everyone for listening to 400 (and more) episodes. We can't wait to deliver even more in the coming months and years!

Episode 400: Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, 2025 Genesis G80 3.5T Sport Prestige, Listener Question, Dog and Cat Shows

First up, Sami has a Ford Mustang Mach-E to talk about, but gasp! Its from last year? It still features a cool new upgrade that adds extra power, prompting our hosts to talk about these downloadable mods. What would they reasonably add to a car via a download button? Butterflies, weird algorithms and maybe some growing and fading vines are all on the table for Sami and Benjamin.

Then Benjamin continues his fancy-pants parade of luxury cars as he reviews the 2025 Genesis G80. Refreshed for this year with a new look inside and out, Benjamin wonders if the Korean luxury brand still has the 'it' factor that made it so appealing when it first debuted. Benjamin explains what's happening with the G80 with all this context (and more.) Thanks for listening!

Episode 399: 2025 BMW 550e xDrive, Strange Automotive Merch, Listener Questions

The Unnamed Automotive Podcast tackles a plug-in hybrid luxury sedan sporting a similar name to an old V8 powered favorite. Benjamin has put the 2025 BMW 550e through its paces to see what the German automaker has done with electrifying its new-generation 5 Series. The result is nothing short of impressive, as the 550e seems to deliver on efficiency, performance and technology. But is it fun to drive?

Then Sami brings up a listener question about reliability of established automakers, before finishing this weeks show with a discussion on automotive merch and bonuses. Thanks for listening!
