We spend the first years of our lives constantly learning, whether we're at school or at home. As we get older, it is just as important to unlearn — to truly discover and listen to your own individual voice that breaks free from what your parents have taught you, what school has taught you and what society expects from you. This is Erika and Roxi and we invite you to join in on our conversations as we talk about unlearning from the context of an Asian upbringing. Please rate and review if you enjoy it. Tell us what you've unlearned today.

Cohabitation: What & why I recommend it

In this episode, Erika talks about what living with your partner before marriage really entails– the good and the bad, but why it’s necessary for relationships to grow.

Getting married first before living your partner is expected in Asia, but it’s not that big of a deal in Europe. I mean, your aunt praying over you because you live with your partner shows that clearly.

There are a lot of reasons, though, to move in with someone: practicality, relationship progression, dynamic understanding.

What do you think about moving in with your partner before marriage? Is it still frowned upon? Let us know @unlearningwithus on Instagram!
