This is the one where Elena shuts off her humanity and burns her house down. Krista has some questions about the logic behind the burning of the house, and we both have things to say about grief. I think after 2020, we all have things to say about grief, to be honest.

This one actually surprised Krista, and all of us, really, because no one thought they'd pull off their plan to kill Kol! That's two Original vampires our gang has managed to kill, in two of the only plots they've concocted to actually go as planned. Plus, they've got Klaus trapped, and Jeremy's tattoo map complete, so seemingly all of the pieces together to get the cure. As Damon says in the episode: here we go!

We're back! Thank you for your patience as we dealt with illness, work responsibilities, and the passing of a person close to one of us. And, you know, the Christmas holiday. We're glad things are settling back in so we can return to Mystic Falls! In this episode, Bonnie is boring, Elena is dumb, Damon is compelled, and Stefan is full of snarky goodness.

In this episode, thanks to Rebekah's mean girl antics, a lot of truths are revealed. Not that Stefan is willing to believe what Elena is saying even though she's compelled to tell the truth. It's exhausting. But having Rebekah back is fun.

It's Christmas time in Mystic Falls, and you know what that means! That's right, a whole lotta murder! Tis the season for lies, plots, stupidity, rage, tantrums, getting all into someone's business when it's not your place, deciding what's right for other people when it's not your choice, and beautifully scored massacres.

It's flashback time! We go back to the 1940's New Orleans, when Damon managed to have another vampire sired to him. This one, though, might be a lot dumb, because she actually takes everything he says literally. If someone told me to count all the bricks in all of New Orleans, I'd tell them to fuck off, frankly.

In the present we have girl's night bonding, and then arguing, that dovetails with a boring subplot about one of the hybrids trying to gain alpha status of the rest of them until Tyler almost rips her heart out.

And so it's revealed that Elena is sired to Damon. Maybe now Stefan will stop trying to do what he thinks she needs and...who are we kidding? He's going to keep trying to cure her so he can like her again. Krista is very mad at him.

A note on the music at the end: I always pick a song used in the episode we're covering. This time, there was a string version of one of my favorite songs, Falling Slowly from the musical Once. For our end music, I chose a live version of it from the London production starring one of my dreamboats, Arthur Darvill from Doctor Who. His voice is gorgeous. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Elena has some hallucinations, and later makes some revelations to Stefan which leads to their inevitable break up. Also, Jeremy triggers his Hunter status by killing a hybrid to save Elena, which also triggers Caroline and Tyler to break up...maybe. Also: Professor Shane sucks. We hate him.

Sorry this went up late. We had so little to say about it that I forgot to post it. Whoops. In this episode, Elena kills someone and now we're all going to have to deal with that.

We learn more about The Five in a series of flashbacks where Jaime is very happy to see Elijah and Krista feels very bad for Rebekah. The girl just can't catch a break. Also, we meet creepy Professor Shane, who sucks.

In which Elena is unbearable, but let's focus on what's good: Damon teaming up with all the random people he hates! Jeremy, Klaus, and even an invite to Tyler. It's pretty delightful.

Elena can't keep blood down. Bonnie is struggling with her magic. There's a rude as fuck vampire hunter in town, with a mysterious tattoo that only Jeremy (so far) can see. The funeral for Pastor Young and the 11 other people he killed is interrupted by said hunter - like I said: RUDE - and Tyler is shot in front of everyone. Stefan decides to have a private memorial with his friends to say goodbye to the people they've lost, but Damon would rather talk to Ric's ghost. Same, Damon. Same.

We did it, y'all! We have arrived in Season 4, with all of its Elena-as-a-vampire glory despite Bonnie almost killing herself and Stefan's uncharacteristic Pollyanna hopefulness. What does this new development mean for her recent decision to pick Stefan over Damon now that she has remembered what he compelled her to forget? How will it affect her friends, and her brother? And what is the deal with that annoying Pastor going on a crusade and then blowing himself and the new Town Council up?

We did it, you guys! We made it through Season 3! And while we have to say goodbye to Ric, we get to say hello to vampire Elena! I mean, yes, yes, she hasn't made the transition yet, but what are the odds that she doesn't? And, lucky for Krista, we don't have to wait three months to find out what happens!

I apologize for getting this up so late; sometimes life just gets hectic. Join us anyway, as we discuss Klaus's panther-like pacing, Ric being a complete dick, Jeremy kinda dying again, and the Salvatores and Bonnie calling an audible switcheroo on the plan to take Ric down but instead targeting Klaus.

Otherwise known as the one with The Kiss. The whole series has been building towards this moment, and it doesn't disappoint. But, while Damon and Elena are making out in Colorado, Stefan is trying not to kill Ric while he attempts to get the location of the remaining White Oak Stake from Ric's evil alter ego. Caroline and Tyler reunite, but their bliss is short lived once he sees the drawing Klaus made of her. Oh, and Esther is back to manipulate her way into killing her children and all vampires with them.

It's funny, we thought we'd have a lot to say about this one, but it turns out there isn't a whole lot to dig into. It's pretty straight forward: a plan to kill an Original in order to kill all of the Originals is made, it is thwarted by multiple circumstances, a new obstacle is revealed. But, at least Krista got her montage...kind of.
