We are back tonight with some poetry just for you. We are kicking off 2022 with our guest John Hanright.
John is a writer, student, actor, and activist.
As an openly gay socialist, John realizes the revolutionary power of art, especially writing.
He is currently working on a novella and a poetry chapbook. You can usually find him acting on Cape Cod stages, reconnecting with nature, or at social justice protests.

Andrea Brown is a poet, author, editor, educator, public speaker, blogger, and avid birder.
A former resident of downtown Manhattan who lived a block from the World Trade Center on 9/11.
Brown's eyewitness account of the attack and its aftermath won several awards and is cited in the Library of Congress Online Research Guide to the Poetry of 9/11.
Brown's new poetry collection, September 12, is available for purchase online and in your favorite bookstore.
Brown is the author of three previous poetry collections: The Disheveled Bed, Brook & Rainbow, Domestic Karma, and American Fraktur.
Brown taught creative writing at Pomona College after moving to the West Coast and was Managing Editor of The Emily Dickinson Journal.
Brown joined The Word Works and serves as Series Editor for The Washington Prize, their longest-running poetry book contest and imprint!
Navah The Buddaphliii (Butterfly) is a writer, performer, and author of "Black Cocaine and Colorless Butterflies".
She has been writing and performing poetry for over two decades.
This master of metaphors is a strong believer in transformation and being a fundamental change to the world.
After reading her clever affirmations and inspirational quotes called “Navahism” posted on social media some have called her a poet-prophet.
This duchess of double entendres has always been a creative spirit.
A mother of five and trying to find that balance between raising a family, spending quality time with her life partner/father of her children.

Ashanti Anderson (she/her) is a Black Queer Disabled poet, screenwriter, and playwright.
Her debut short poetry collection, Black Under, is the winner of the Spring 2020 Black River Chapbook Competition at Black Lawrence Press.
Her poems have appeared in World Literature Today, POETRY magazine, and elsewhere in print and on the web.

Durane West is a storyteller by nature, he writes poetry to unpack his own journey for others.
A world through his lens looks like many things: seasons changing, nature and its relationship to human life, personification, black self-discovery, and healing to name a few.
West’s favorite part of the writing process is the first draft. “The way I bleed onto the paper feels different."

Amanda has been writing poetry since she was young.
She loves providing a platform for new performers trying to find their place.

Shannon Davis is a singer-songwriter, poet, traveler, naturalist, and actress.
Shannon plays acoustic guitar, telling stories through song. Sometimes the stories are literal, though more often they are metaphorical, emotional, and relatable.
In Spring of 2020, Shannon won a grand prize through Eventide Theatre Company’s New England Songwriting Contest for her song “When We Were Kids”,
In February 2021, she released her first EP “May You Always See A Light”, now available on all streaming
platforms.
Born and raised on the Cape, Shannon has spent time exploring our country and other parts of the world, but she's always found herself drawn back home.
She has lived in California, Oregon, and also Madagascar, where she served for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer.
Tito Rivera identifies with street artists, organizers and prefers being underground but global.
His main elements include hip hop musicianship as a composer and pianist; Media Production and Design, Emceein, Deejaying, beatboxing, and advocating for the human rights of Hip Hop and all people.
Currently, he is a member of the Hip Hop Congress, Universal Zulu Nation Department of Community Affairs, New Era Young Lords, and Taino Nation.

Shakira Henley-Fessler is a singer, published writer, poet, and performer. She was born and raised on the Eastside of Buffalo, NY. Being brought up in the Baptist Church played a major part in her musical preferences.
She has performed with multiple choirs and churches in NY & MA and competed at NYC’s famous Apollo Theater’s Amateur Competition coming in 1st and 2nd place at the 5 shows she competed in.
Her poetry is generally about/for herself and the people she cares for. She has had two short poems published. Currently, she is a full-time student working toward her BS in Business Management.
She is happily married to her amazing wife, Lisa, the duo loves traveling, camping, and hanging out in their backyard around the fire pit, drinking wine.

Muhammad Muwakil is an artist living in and working out of the Caribbean.
He is a writer, musician, and the lead singer and creative director of the band, Freetown Collective.
As one of the founders of the spoken word movement in Trinidad and Tobago, an actor in several local stage productions and movies, writer and creative director of the 2021 productions "M.A.S." and "Lavway" and a visual artist, his vast creative experiences have been shaped by and seek to shape the space in which he was born.

Amanda Shea is an International multidisciplinary artist residing in Boston, Massachusetts.
Shea has performed spoken word poetry at numerous venues throughout Boston and globally (including the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre (NYC), the Peace Institute (D.C.), National Press Club (D.C.), and the Institute of Contemporary Art).
She achieved status as an International Artist when she performed virtually in Africa for ArtGlo based in Malawi and the Jos Literary and Arts Festival in Nigeria.
