Brave but Not Always Confident - Part 2 (episode 276-2)
Adventure, faith, and the courage to let go of “shoulds” In an unforgettable conversation that blends adventure, faith, and the challenges of personal growth, Michelle LeBeau shares from the heart. From serving as a VIP escort at the 1984 Olympics, and hopping freight trains in college, Michelle’s adventurous spirit shines through. She also shares about her family’s ongoing involvement in the Olympics and her impactful work with Y Malawi, alongside a lighter moment—recently rocking out at a Rolling Stones cover band concert for a cause supporting youth homelessness. But this episode goes deeper than stories of adventure. Together we tackle the real struggles women face—fear of judgment, failure, and not meeting societal expectations. Michelle opens up about her own battles with self-doubt and the burden of “shoulds,” offering insight on how self-awareness, grace, and embracing vulnerability can transform not just ourselves but also the way we serve others. Together, they explore what it means to live with courage, push past fear, and reflect the love and inclusivity of Jesus. Michelle is our guest this week for Spicy Christian Women - Becoming All that and a Bag of Chips. Here is part two.

Every Word You Speak has Power - Part 2 (episode 275-2)
We continue our conversation, Part 2 with Wilma Hollis for Spicy Christian Women - Becoming All that and a Bag of Chips. It starts early in life, the things we are drawn to. “Growing up, who did you look up to?” “I looked up to people who told the truth. I looked up to, the pastor that I had growing up. I looked up to a journalist. I looked up to people who defended you know someone who would say, that was wrong, you shouldn't have done that. We don't have enough of that now.” What do women need right now? “Our role as the primary nurturers doesn't change just because the times change. If anything, there's a… there's more of a demand on our need to nurture. There's more of a demand to make the kids feel safe, to help, you know, people in your world feel like everything's gonna be okay. And so, in these times, it's so important that we nurture others, that's still… that's still necessary, but also make sure that we nurture ourselves.” Yes, that.

Every Word You Speak has Power - Part 1 (episode 275-1)
This woman has a lot of wisdom to impart. Wilma Hollis is our guest this week for “Spicy Christian Women - Becoming All that and a Bag of Chips.” Here is part one. Her calling in life - the power of words. She encourages us to know this. “I need you to know that every word you speak has power, that you shouldn't say anything that you don't want to have happen in your life. You know, I'm sick and tired, I was scared to death, you know, you get on my nerves. One of the quotes I like is, if you don't seek it, don't speak it.” We agreed that God is always speaking. “How does God speak to you?” “How does God speak to me? God speaks to me in so many untraditional ways. You know, everyone says, oh, well, when I read my Bible, when I go to church and hear a sermon or listen to a teaching… No, I mean, those things are wonderful, and God can speak to me like that, but generally, it's in very unexpected ways. When I'm in a conversation with one of my adult daughters, scrolling - it can be anything. Someone can send me a song and say, hey, listen to this, and man, if it comes at the right time, it hits at the right moment. That was for me.” Listen for some inspiration.

She Sees God in All Things with Quiet Confidence - Part 2 (episode 274-2)
To continue the conversation, Haley and I dive into the very real challenges women face when it comes to embracing all that God has for them. We talk about the fears of not fully understanding His plan, the pressure to do everything, and how often people-pleasing can leave us anxious and disconnected from our own growth. Haley shares the value of slowing down for self-reflection—even in simple ways, like listening to faith-based podcasts—and reminds us that small steps can open big doors for spiritual renewal. Together, we explore self-acceptance, the courage to be yourself even when others may not approve, and the grace that comes with patience on your unique journey. We also discuss the book The Courage to Be Disliked, which offers a powerful reminder to live humbly yet unapologetically true to who you are. And through it all, we affirm that every feeling is valid—what matters most is how you choose to move forward with it. This is part two of our conversation with Haley for the series, “Spicy Christian Women - Becoming All that and a Bag of Chips.”

She Sees God in All Things with Quiet Confidence - Part 1 (episode 274-1)
She is patient, joyful and learning. All great things to embody.  I sit down with Haley O’Connor for a conversation that’s both lively and deeply grounded in faith.  This is part one with part two airing next week. We talk about what she’s watching these days (Paw Patrol, K-Pop, Somebody Feel Phil) and explore what it means to be a “spicy Christian woman.”  For Haley it’s living with quiet confidence, holding to her core beliefs, and navigating the very real struggle of people-pleasing which is something many women experience.   It’s a challenge for her, particularly in situations where she might need to speak up for her beliefs or hasn't fully thought through her commitments.  Can you relate? Haley shares openly about her journey of faith and how she sees God in the everyday—through her children, supportive people in her life, and even in life’s challenges. Rooted in her Jesuit philosophy of finding God in all things, she reminds us that even in difficult scenarios, there’s an opportunity to experience His presence. Together, we unpack the courage it takes to speak up, the grace of flexibility, and the freedom that comes from trusting God in unexpected places. Haley is our first guest for the series, Spicy Christian Women - Becoming All that and a Bag of Chips.

The Truth about Growing Up - episode 268
Ask yourself if it is consistently true.  That is the sage guidance Phoenix shared  when asked what advice he would give to someone about becoming a man.  Don’t take everything at face value because you’re going to be told many things by many different people.  Compare and contrast then think for yourself.   Phoenix is cautious, open and driven.  AND he understands that technology can be an addiction especially for young impressionable people.  I relished getting the insight of a 14-year old male.  I know you will too.  Phoenix DeFehr is our guest this week for the series It’s Raining Men - What do they really think?

Sometimes we are Just so Simple - episode 267
Think about it.  What makes a man, a man?  Is it muscles and strength, a prestigious job, having kids or a certain number as in age?  According to Rick it takes three things.  First, humility, not that you don’t think of yourself, but that you think of others more.  Next service, so that you contribute in big and small ways those who need what you can give.  Last, vulnerability, stop trying to shut down feelings as it’s okay to have them.  It’s what you do with them that makes all the difference.  Another great tidbit: yes, sometimes men really are not thinking anything.  ‘Sometimes we are just so simple.’  Rick Hacker is our guest this week for the series It’s Raining Men - What do they really think?

I Write, but I don’t Love to Write - episode 263
Here was an unexpected statement. She does not actually enjoy writing. Apparently it started early when Mary Ann had a tough time in school particularly with spelling. She didn’t think she was qualified. Her self-talk wasn’t positive. Years later she knew she had to let it go because there was work to be done and it involved writing. Mary Ann Mariani took her years of experience being a presentation coach and went where she knew God was leading her: helping people share their faith. As she explains, everyone has a story and there is somebody that needs to hear yours. This led her to write Your Story for God’s Glory.
