Episode 37: The Jack Daniel’s Blind Test – Coy Hill vs. Single Barrel Proof & Kid Launch
Episode 37: The Jack Daniel’s Blind Test – Coy Hill vs. Single Barrel Proof and Kid Launch On this episode, Jason, Bradford, and Kimber are back on theTennessee porch pouring two powerhouse Tennessee whiskeys for a blind tasting showdown — Jack Daniel’s Coy Hill vs. Total Wine’s Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Barrel Proof. Both pack a punch north of 130 proof, but can either man tell which is which? The Coy Hill, famously released from the highest floors of the rickhouse where the heat pushes proof and intensity to the edge, faces off against the consistent classic of Single Barrel Barrel Proof. Expect rich oak, dark caramel, and that unmistakable Tennessee charcoal finish — but which one steals the porch crown? As the smoke from a Liga Privada No. 9 cigar drifts through the fall air, the guys tackle a real-life topic: launching our kids. The Liga Privada No. 9 sets the tone perfectly — a full-bodied cigar known for its dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and complex, earthy character. Notes of espresso, cocoa, leather, and black pepper evolve throughout the smoke, creating the perfect pairing for a high-proof Tennessee pour and a deep conversation. This week’s discussion hits home: we love having our kids around, but isn’t the goal to raise them so they want to move out and be independent? How do we balance welcoming them home while still encouraging them to build their own lives? It’s a free-flowing, heartfelt conversation about parenting, independence, and the bittersweet beauty of watching our kids take flight — all while sipping two of Lynchburg’s boldest creations. #JackDaniels #CoyHill #SingleBarrelSelect #SingleBarrelProof #TennesseeWhiskey #EmptyNest #Fatherhood

Ep. 36 - Titans GM Jon Robinson Unfiltered: Football, Fatherhood, and Fine Bourbon in Bardstown
Amid the buzz of the iconic Kentucky Bourbon Festival, Jason and Bradford slipped into the shadows of the secret speakeasy at The Trail Hotel in Bardstown, Kentucky. The warm glow of vintage glass and aged oak set the stage for a rare, unfiltered conversation with Jon Robinson — the fearless architect behind the Tennessee Titans’ boldest moves. Jrob dives deep, sharing candid insights on building a winning Titans roster, making tough calls under intense scrutiny, and navigating life in the NFL spotlight. But the conversation doesn’t stop on the field. He opens up about fatherhood, the daily realities of raising kids with Type 1 diabetes, and the resilience and grit required to balance career, family, and personal growth. No cigars, no Kimber — just two standout pours: 15 Stars Fine Aged Bourbon and Jackson Purchase Bourbon. 15 Stars opens the tasting with its rich, smooth layers of caramel, vanilla, and warm oak — a bourbon as steady and dependable as a veteran quarterback. Jackson Purchase brings a bold, higher proof edge with hints of warm butter, a whiskey that mirrors the high-stakes decisions and pressure of leading an NFL franchise. This is bourbon country in its purest form: an evening of rich pours, bold stories, and raw honesty. From savoring 15 Stars and Jackson Purchase to exploring the highs, lows, and unseen challenges of football and fatherhood, this episode is a masterclass in grit, grace, and living intentionally — one sip at a time. #JonRobinson #TennesseeTitans #NFL #NFLTalk #JRob #TitansFans #NFLPodcast #KentuckyBourbonFestival #15StarsBourbon #JacksonPurchase #BourbonTrail #TheTrailHotel

Ep. 35 - Strong Enough For A Man, Made By A Woman - KY Bourbon Festival
Ep. 35 - Strong Enough For A Man, But Made By A Woman - KY Bourbon Festival When Jason and Bradford invite the inimitable Suzanne Phifer Pavitt (of Phifer Pavitt Spirits) their first female guest on the podcast, to join them on the podcast the conversation turns into a masterclass in bourbon, vision, and sensory expertise. Recorded while visiting the speakeasy at The Trail Hotel in Bardstown, Kentucky during the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, this episode, explores how women—perhaps more attuned to aroma and nuance—often lead with their noses in the spirits world, and how that sensitivity becomes an advantage in crafting world-class bourbon. Suzanne recounts the daring genesis of Late Night, Phifer Pavitt’s 10-year bourbon finished in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. That extra 13 months in Cabernet-kissed French oak imparts a signature profile of bold vanilla, dark caramel, smoked caramel, almond brittle, and deep raisin and fig notes. She walks Jason and Bradford through the mash bill (80% corn, 11% rye, 9% malted barley) and shares how she leaned into her own sensory intuition to refine the flavors and finish. She also opens up about a catastrophic fire during COVID that destroyed her family farm and winery, and how that experience shaped her resilience and perspective. Sign up for release dates of Late Night and Reserve at www.phiferpavittspirits.com. Over tasting pours, Suzanne teases out the stories behind each sip: why finishing in wine barrels matters, how tactile memory and scent guide decision-making, and how she balances strength and delicacy in the whiskey she crafts. Jason and Bradford probe, tease, and drink deeply, discovering how a bourbon “made by a woman” can carry enough backbone to impress even the most hardened bourbon purist. Tune in for laughter, insight, and a sensory journey you won’t forget.     #BourbonLife #BourbonCulture #WomenInBourbon #WhiskeyLovers #KentuckyBourbon #BourbonTasting #WhiskeyWednesday #WomenInWhiskey #bourbon #whiskey #brewzle #Itsbourbonnight #kentuckybourbonfestival #TheTrailHotel

Ep. 32 - Pappy-Palooza: Blind Pours of Pappy 15, 20, and 23 on the Porch
Subscribe to the Podcast, Rate and Comment on this episode!   In this episode, Jason and Bradford crack open three of the most coveted bourbons in the world—Pappy Van Winkle 15, 20, and 23 Year—and go completely blind in a head-to-head tasting showdown. 👉 Will the guys pick the right bottles?👉 Which pour truly deserves the crown?👉 Does older really mean better—or is that legendary Pappy price tag more hype than flavor? Each iconic expression brings its own personality to the porch: Pappy 15 Year – Bold, full-bodied, and often hailed as the sweet spot of the lineup. Expect caramel, oak, and vanilla that hit with authority. Pappy 20 Year – Refined and elegant, with softened spice, leather notes, and a balance that leans old-school sophistication. Pappy 23 Year – The unicorn of unicorns. Oak-forward, deep, and complex—but is more age really more flavor? To raise the stakes, the guys light up a Partagas 160, a rare celebratory cigar wrapped in aged Cameroon leaf, letting the smoke mingle with the bourbons’ rich layers. But it’s not just whiskey and cigars on the porch—the conversation drifts into a different kind of “aged” subject: the 24-hour news cycle. What happened to the days when news came twice a day—once in the morning and once at night—and life filled the space between? Has the endless flood of alerts reshaped how we see the world, our neighbors, and even ourselves? From the rise of CNN to smartphones, from 9/11 to today’s polarized feeds, Jason and Bradford dig into nostalgia, critique, and some tough questions about what we’ve lost in the noise.   #PappyVanWinkle #BourbonTasting #Pappy15 #Pappy20 #Pappy23 #RareBourbon #WhiskeyReview #BourbonReview #BlindBourbonTasting #WhiskeyTube #BourbonTube #BourbonCommunity #BourbonHunters #WhiskeyLife #CigarAndWhiskey #Partagas160 #TwoGuysOnAPorch #BourbonPodcast #WhiskeyTalk #PappyHunt #PorchTalk #BourbonCulture

Two Guys On A Porch
Ep. 31: Rare Pours & Purpose: Old Fitzgerald, Pappy Van Winkle, & Weller Millennium
Ep. 31: Rare Pours & Purpose: Old Fitzgerald, Pappy Van Winkle, & Weller Millennium In this special episode of Two Guys On A Porch, Jason and Bradford go deep — into both rare pours and real purpose. They’re lighting up a Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 cigar and diving into three exceptional whiskeys that represent the pinnacle of craftsmanship, history, and collector intrigue: Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year – The icon. A wheated bourbon with unmatched legacy and mystique. Aged 23 years and bottled at 95.6 proof, this pour is velvet on the palate and heavy with lore. It’s the kind of whiskey that deserves reverence — and good conversation. Old Fitzgerald 19 Year Bottled in Bond – A beautiful nod to history and heritage, this wheated bourbon from Heaven Hill pays tribute to Pappy Van Winkle himself, who once distilled Old Fitz. With a mash bill of 75% corn, 20% wheat, and 5% malted barley, it’s a bold, elegant reminder that BIB bourbons still punch way above their weight. Aged nearly two decades, it delivers depth, maturity, and that signature Heaven Hill sweetness. Weller Millennium – The rarest and most ambitious pour of the lineup. Released in 2024 to commemorate the new millennium and Buffalo Trace’s ownership of the Weller name, this whiskey is not technically a bourbon — because it’s at least 51% wheat. Made from distillations across 2000, 2003, 2005, and 2006, aged between 18 and 24 years, bottled at 99 proof, and presented in an amazing lit package, & handcrafted crystal decanter.  As the guys explore these epic pours, they ask a bigger question: Why are we doing this podcast? A year in, what started as two friends talking cigars and bourbon has become something deeper — a space for presence, purpose, and honest connection. Is it a mission? A tradition? A lifeline for men craving real conversation? Whether you're a bourbon collector, a cigar enthusiast, or just someone looking for meaning behind the smoke and the sip — this episode is a reminder that the porch is more than a place. It’s a mindset. #PappyVanWinkle #OldFitzgerald #WellerMillennium #BourbonLife #WheatedBourbon #RareWhiskey #BourbonEnthusiast #BuffaloTrace #HeavenHill #WhiskeyLovers

Two Guys On A Porch
Ep 30 : “Bourbon Unicorns - A Semi-Blind Taste Test of Pappy and Weller”
Jason and Bradford are back on the porch chasing bourbon dreams—and this time, they’re chasing unicorns. The guys dive into a blind taste test of some of the most elusive bottles in the Buffalo Trace lineup, putting price, palate, and prestige to the test.  Can they identify the pairs correctly? They pair Weller Antique 107 vs. Pappy 15 Year, and Weller 12 Year vs. Pappy 12 Year Lot B—all in a blind lineup to see if legendary names live up to the hype. Can a $150 bottle hang with one that fetches $3,000? And does that “Poor Man’s Pappy” recipe really stand a chance against the real thing? But this episode isn’t just about bourbon—it’s about perspective. “If my 25-year-old self knew what I know now, what would I do with the information?” At 25, Bradford was married and five years from becoming a dad. Would having a “cheat code” for life have changed anything? It’s a twist on the old journey vs. destination question: if you’re happy with where you are now, would you really rewrite the past? As they sip through their dream lineup, they light up the Padron 50th Anniversary, a cigar worthy of the moment—bold, refined, and a reminder that some things, like wisdom and whiskey, take time. Pour something special, settle into your favorite seat, and reflect on life, legacy, and what really matters. #TwoGuysOnAPorch #DreamTasting #BourbonWisdom #PappyVsWeller #BlindTasting #Padron50th #PoorMansPappy #BuffaloTrace #LifeCheatCode #JourneyVsDestination #WhiskeyTalk #CigarAndBourbon #PorchPhilosophy #WhiskeyReflections

Our Top Three Worst Whiskeys
“Bad Whiskeys to Avoid”Two Guys On A Porch Podcast Not every bottle deserves a place on your shelf. In this short, punchy episode, Jason and Bradford call out a few whiskeys that left them shaking their heads. From the misleading MacFarlane’s Reserve (marketed as a Maker’s Mark dupe but far from it), to the overproofed punch of MB Roland that desperately needs water, to the budget-bottom Kentucky Gentleman—a 51/49 blend barely holding onto the bourbon label—this is your warning list. Some pours just aren't worth the price—or the regret. #TwoGuysOnAPorch #BadWhiskey #WhiskeyFails #MacFarlanesReserve #MBRoland #KentuckyGentleman #BourbonTruth #WhiskeyReview #PorchPassOrPourOut

Ep. 29 - A Blind Taste Test - Purpose, Contentment, and Ashes
In this episode, Jason and Bradford light up a rare Partagas 160 cigar and go head-to-head in a blind bourbon tasting featuring two very different expressions: Four Roses Super Premium (a Japanese market-only release) and the George Dickel 17-Year. They explore the history behind these legendary distilleries—Four Roses with its long, winding ownership story and subtle Japanese influence under Kirin, and George Dickel, revitalized by chemical engineer-turned-master distiller Nicole Austin under Diageo’s stewardship. But the pour isn’t the only thing to savor. The guys dive deep into the evolving journey of a man’s purpose. They reflect on the freedom this generation has to ask what they want to do with their life—not just inherit a path. What happens when the chase slows down in your 40s or 50s? Is it possible to pursue passion without compromising your role? With cigars in hand and good whiskey in their glasses, the conversation turns honest, layered, and full of the kind of clarity that comes with age—and maybe a little help from Tennessee corn. From first drinks and first cars to their first memorable cigar, the guys open up about what they’ve learned through missteps, milestones, and misadventures. Today’s pour lineup features three standout bourbons: Knob Creek 12 Year – A bold, full-bodied classic from Jim Beam, first offered in the ‘90s. 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley. MSRP $75–$80. Widow Jane 10 Year – Brooklyn-based and unapologetically rich, this sourced high-rye bourbon sets its sights on boldness. MSRP $75–$85. Eagle Rare 10 Year – A staple from Buffalo Trace with a loyal following. MSRP $40–$50… if you can find it. Ep. 27 - A Balvenie Scotch Kind of Day - How Do You Care for Your Aging Parents?
Ep. 27 - A Balvenie Scotch Kind of Day - How Do You Care for Your Aging Parents? On this episode of Two Guys on a Porch, Jason and Bradford pour two remarkable expressions from one of Speyside’s legendary distilleries—Balvenie—while opening up about one of life’s most delicate transitions: caring for aging parents. In their glasses: Balvenie Tun 1509 and Portwood 21 Year—refined, unpeated Scotches that showcase the craftsmanship of a family-owned distillery that still practices all five of the “Rare Crafts.” From in-house coopers and coppersmiths to the pioneering technique of wood finishing, Balvenie is Scotch done with soul. In their hands: the Montecristo 75th Anniversary, a Dominican-made, British-owned tribute to the world’s best-selling cigar, the Montecristo #2. A smooth, celebratory smoke fitting for a conversation this nuanced. But the heart of this episode isn’t just about flavor—it’s about family. When do you take the car keys from your parents? How do you navigate tough conversations about what they can’t safely do anymore—cooking, driving, managing finances, or ordering online? The guys dive into the difficult emotional and logistical territory of elder care: Do you bring your parents into your home? What impact does that have on your marriage, siblings, or your children? How do you reconcile honoring them while also making firm, necessary decisions? And what about the cost—when assisted living or memory care can burn through a lifetime of savings in just a few years? This episode isn’t just a tasting—it’s a testament to aging well, making hard choices with love, and finding grace in the midst of generational shifts. Pour a dram. Light a cigar. Ep 26: “What is Willett’s Legacy? and a Road Trip back to Whiskey House”
Jason and Bradford hit the road once again, landing at the legendary Whiskey House Nashville. Tucked inside the exclusive Kentucky Room (yes, it’s as incredible as it sounds), the guys soaked in the ambiance and savored some serious bourbon history. They also share stories from memorable college road trips. This episode dives deep into Willett Distillery—an iconic, family-owned operation founded in 1936 that weathered bourbon’s dark ages and revived its name in 2012. Jason and Bradford explore the story behind Willett’s resurgence and legacy high proof smooth taste experience. Featured pours include the Willett Black Label, a smooth 8-year wheated bourbon clocking in at 108 proof, and two distinct Willett Pot Still offerings: Reserve and Single Barrel—known as much for their unique bottle shape as their bold 94-proof taste. And for the grand finale? A taste (and tale) of the mythical 23-year-old Willett Purple Top—as well as a very near unattainable Mt. Vernon Rye from 1937! Two rare gems you may never see again. Pour a glass, settle in, and join the guys for stories, sips, and a room you have to see to believe. The Whiskey House is one of Nashville’s best kept secrets. Ep. 25 - Whiskey House Nashville: Sipping Kentucky Owl and a Special Whiskey Bottled in 1941
Jason and Bradford are back on the porch—but this time, it’s the legendary Whiskey House in Nashville. They're joined by special guest and Whiskey House founder, John "JB" Brittle Jr., for a memorable afternoon of rare pours, rich conversation, and good smoke.  The importance of creative, charitable giving is a cornerstone of the afternoon.  The guys brought along two Kentucky Owls—Magistrar and Batch 12, the current standard offering. JB takes it back to the beginning with Batch 8, a coveted early release from over a decade ago. Then comes the surprise: JB opens a bottle of Mt. Vernon Bottled-in-Bond Rye, a 6-year-old rye bottled in 1941—the last release before WWII paused the label for years. It’s a taste of history and kindness amongst friends in the truest sense. The Whiskey House is one of Nashville’s best kept secrets. There are only two ways to experience it - as the guest of a Whiskey House trustee or at a tasting experience through a donation made to a charity or non-profit who has partnered with Whiskey House. While sipping and swapping stories, the trio fires up Padron 1926 Series cigars from Mission Cigars—an ideal match for the moment. The conversation weaves through the craft of master distillers and the art of blending, but it also turns toward something deeper: the idea that it truly is more blessed to give than to receive. JB reflects on the joy of sharing whiskey and wisdom, and how generosity—whether with bourbon or your time—can shape a meaningful life. This episode is a toast to legacy, community, and the simple joys of a good pour and a better purpose. Two Guys On A Porch
Episode 24 – Sipping Old Fitz History, Parenting the Future
Episode 24 – "Sipping Old Fitz History, Parenting the Future" In this episode of Two Guys on a Porch, Jason and Bradford crack open some truly legendary bottles —: Old Fitzgerald 19 Year, 13 Year, and the crown jewel, the Very Very Old Fitzgerald. Distilled in 1957 at Stitzel-Weller under the watchful eye of Pappy Van Winkle himself and bottled in bond in 1969, this rare pour offers a sip of bourbon history — back when wheat first replaced rye in the mash bill to create the smooth profile we treasure today. The Old Fitzgerald 13-Year-Old Bottled-in-Bond 25th Anniversary Edition, released in 2024, has garnered significant acclaim in the whiskey community. Notably, it was awarded the title of "World's Best Bourbon" at the 2025 World Whiskies Awards.  Excellence! And speaking of excellence, they light up a smoke worthy of the moment: the Padron 1964 Anniversary Series and the 50th Anniversary Series. Introduced in 1994 to celebrate Padron’s 30th anniversary, the 1964 uses all-Nicaraguan tobacco aged four years before rolling. The 50th, released in 2014 to mark half a century of Padron, continues the tradition of deep Nicaraguan flavor and rich craftsmanship — just like the bourbon in their glass, it’s aged, bold, and unforgettable.   As they savor these once-in-a-lifetime bourbons, Jason and Bradford reflect on parenting across the decades. They dig into the contrast between raising kids when you're young (and clueless) versus when they are adults.   They explore how wisdom, patience, and fatigue shape parenting styles — and how the transition into parenting adult children brings a whole new set of challenges, where offering advice becomes an art form requiring timing, restraint, and a whole lot of humility. With VVS in the glass and some very real talk about family, aging, and legacy, this episode blends rare bourbon and hard-earned life lessons the only way Two Guys on a Porch can. #VeryVeryOldFitzgerald #OldFitzgerald #WhiskeyOfTheYear #HeavenHill #Padron1964 #Padron50th

Two Guys On A Porch
Episode 23 – Who Is Right Anyway? And When Legends Leave Us
Episode 23 – Who Is Right Anyway? And When Legends Leave Us In this episode of Two Guys on a Porch, Jason and Bradford debate who’s “right” as they sample partially blind pours of Jim Beam Black Extra Aged, Old Dominick Bottled in Bond, and Benchmark Bonded—three household name bourbons ranging from $18 to $35. They don’t know which pour is which as they sip and guess—then make their final calls at the end. Are they becoming accessible bourbon experts… or just lucky guessers? Stay tuned to the end to find out. They also explore a different kind of life moment—the one that comes when public figures pass away. From George Foreman and Gene Hackman to George H.W. Bush, these deaths stir something personal. It’s not the deep grief of losing a loved one—it’s the quiet, nostalgic ache of realizing we’re losing pieces of our own past. Song memories surface and spark Jason’s reflections on med school, residency, and exam challenges. So… who did start the fire? Speaking of fire: paired with bold Don Pepin cigars from My Father, this conversation smokes slow and steady—filled with insight, storytelling, and a toast to the ghosts of glory. Special thanks to My Father for the fellowship sticks! The guys also unpack how actors, musicians, presidents, and athletes become the soundtrack of our lives. Each death doesn’t just mark the end of their story—it replays a chapter of ours. From political legacies to the songs and screen legends that shaped our youth, they wrestle with how memory fades and meaning lingers. #OldDominick #JimBeamBlack #BenchmarkBonded #LegacyAndLoss #WhiskeyTalk #CigarLife #BourbonCulture #NostalgiaSips #PorchConversations #GeneHackman #GeorgeForeman #GeorgeHWBush #TwoGuysOnAPorch #BourbonAndCigars #DonPepin #MyFatherCigars

Episode 22: Celebrities: Traveling to Church with Smooth Tennessee Whiskey to Heaven’s Door
Jason,  Bradford and Kimber are back—this time posted up in the barn with the rain pattering on the tin roof and a trio of star-studded bottles on the table. It’s all about celebrity whiskeys: why are famous folks diving into the bourbon game? Is it just another tequila-fueled cash grab, or is there real passion and quality in the barrel? And with whiskey consumption dipping, is there longevity in these high-profile pours?  The ‘legend in their own minds’ enjoy all the tasting, fellowship and the sounds of a passing train during the afternoon. Jypsi – Eric Church’s 103 proof, rye-forward release born from a collab with Jack Daniels and master distiller Jeff Arnett. Two Guys On A Porch
Episode 21: Guidance: The Flavor of Friendship (Part Two)
Jason and Bradford return for part two of their conversation with special guest—distiller Jason Ridgel, the founder of Tennessee’s own Guidance Whiskey. This episode kicks off with an in-depth discussion on the distinctions between Tennessee Whiskey and Kentucky Bourbon, diving into the nuances of wheated bourbon and the craftsmanship behind small-batch distilling. Ridgel also shares his personal journey from college to becoming a distiller, revealing the passion and perseverance that shaped his path. Guidance Whiskey is more than just a bottle on the shelf; it’s a story of ambition, resilience, and community. Founded by Ridgel, Guidance was created to honor culture and bring people together. With a carefully curated blend of corn, rye, malted barley, and water from Iowa Guidance Whiskey delivers a smooth, balanced taste that embodies its core philosophy—whiskey should be enjoyed in good company, sparking great conversation and lasting friendships. Ridgel’s mission is clear: to introduce more people to bourbon and whiskey culture, placing infinite wisdom on the shelf with every bottle. As the discussion unfolds, Jason, Bradford, and Ridgel reflect on how whiskey serves as a bridge—connecting people through shared experiences, rich flavors, and meaningful stories. And as the glasses empty, the conversation only deepens, reaffirming that the best whiskey is the one enjoyed with great company. To round out the episode, Ridgel introduces a friend’s whiskey, Reverence, giving the trio an opportunity to compare tasting notes and explore its unique characteristics alongside Guidance. Get yourself a bottle of Guidance and invite some friends for “the flavor of friendship.” Stay tuned for future episodes as Jason and Bradford continue their journey through the world of whiskey, cigars, and the undeniable joy of fellowship and friendship. #GuidanceWhiskey #TwoGuysOnAPorch #WhiskeyLovers #BourbonCulture #TennesseeWhiskey #WheatedBourbon #SmallBatchWhiskey #FellowshipAndFriendship #SipAndSmoke #WhiskeyTalk
