Try This at Home: A Mythbusters Rewatch
We asked ChatGPT to write an episode of Mythbusters
NOTE: Apologies for the audio quality of this episode. Somebody put Buster in charge of Harrison's Internet connection, and it didn't go well. We've got our best robots on it and will have it fixed for next time.  This week, Cliff and Harrison dive into the slop-tastic AI language pool that is ChatGPT, asking everyone's favorite robot overlord to write an episode of Mythbusters. How does it stack up? And what version of the show do we prefer? (Spoiler: Definitely the real deal.) Try This at Home will return with new rewatches soon, but in the meantime join us for special bonus episodes posted every two weeks!    Produced by Slug Line MediaHosted by Cliff Bumgardner and Harrison StewartMusic by the Mysterious Breakmaster CylinderCover art by Barbour Shop Creative Services

Try This at Home: A Mythbusters Rewatch
The guy behind Mythbusters' blueprints – with Producer & Cartoonist Eric Haven
When you think of Mythbusters, a few things come to mind: epic explosions, wild experiments… and rectal probes. But one of the most iconic elements of the show? Those unforgettable blueprint drawings. This week, Cliff and Harrison are joined by Eric Haven — cartoonist, producer, and the mastermind behind many of those legendary sketches. An Industrial Light & Magic alum, Eric joined MythBusters alongside the Build Team (and past guest Peter Heap!) and transformed the show's storytelling with nothing more than a silver Sharpie and serious artistic chops. Over the years, he created hundreds of blueprint sequences that became a signature of the series. This week, Eric shares how he got involved with the Mythbusters team and what it was liking shaping the show's visual identity – even if he didn't realize it at the time.   Produced by Slug Line MediaHosted by Cliff Bumgardner and Harrison StewartMusic by the Mysterious Breakmaster CylinderCover art by Barbour Shop Creative Services

326: Chinese Invasion Alarm / The Five Second Rule
Did the ancient Chinese have a warning system for an invading army? And is the five-second rule really safe? The Mythbusters are here to find out in the last episode of season 3! (At least according to HBO Max.) It's hard to believe, but it's our last recap episode of the season as Cliff and Harrison dig into an episode that turns out to be better than they ever expected.  Try This at Home will return with new recaps soon, but don't miss a series of special bonus episodes – starring with a behind-the-scenes look at the Mythbusters Revealed special. It all kicks off August 20th, with new episodes every two weeks until we start season 4 this fall.Produced by Slug Line MediaHosted by Cliff Bumgardner and Harrison StewartMusic by the Mysterious Breakmaster CylinderCover art by Barbour Shop Creative Services

325: Mythbusters Revisited
Give your commenting fingers a rest, because this week the Mythbusters are back to tackle the fans' complains and requests with another Myths Revisited episode! Seven myths return to the testing ground as Adam, Jamie, and the Build Team walk in the rain, go flying with plywood, and... get cars hot in a parking lot? (We don't get that one either.)  Plus, Cliff and Harrison debate whether the fans really ever wrote in with such silly complaints or if it was a clever bit of storytelling from our favorite explosive crew. It's a jam-packed episode for this week's Try This at Home!   Produced by Slug Line MediaHosted by Cliff Bumgardner and Harrison StewartMusic by the Mysterious Breakmaster CylinderCover art by Barbour Shop Creative Services

324: Escape Slide Parachute / Exploding Hair Cream
Can an airplane escape slide be used as a parachute? And can hair cream cause jets to explode? It's aviation absurdity as the Mythbusters tackle two sky-high myths destined to destroy Buster in ways we never imagined.  Plus: A special bonus myth sends Cliff and Harrison down a Research Hole on the incredibly true story of the flight attendant who survived the longest fall in human history. 323: Killer Tissue Box / Splitting an Arrow
Can a tissue box become deadly? And is it really possible to split an arrow down the middle just like Robin Hood? This week the Mythbusters tackle two myths about unlikely aerodynamics – and Cliff and Harrison stuggle to keep the show flying straight.  Our intrepid hosts battle the weather to bring you a laugh-out-loud episode that travels from the cutting edge all the way back to the Ye Olde days and leaves us wondering how Mythbusters ever existed without Grant Imahara. 322: Border Slingshot
Can you really build a human-sized slingshot to launch yourself across the border? And more importantly… should you? This week on MythBusters, Adam and Jamie take on one of the show’s weirdest myths yet: the tale of immigrants supposedly flinging themselves from the Canada into the United States. Yes, Canada.  In a rare twist, the episode focuses on just one myth, which has Cliff and Harrison debating whether less is more when it comes to MythBusters mayhem. Plus, we take a detour into the surprisingly real world of professional slingshotting (yes, that's a thing). Tune in for human launch physics, airborne awkwardness, and a whole lot of confusion on this week’s new Try This at Home!   Produced by Slug Line MediaHosted by Cliff Bumgardner and Harrison StewartMusic by the Mysterious Breakmaster CylinderCover art by Barbour Shop Creative Services

321: Bulletproof Water / 360 Degree Swing Set
Can jumping into water really stop a speeding bullet? And what happens if you try to pull off a full 360-degree loop on a swing set? Spoiler: it involves rockets, questionable physics, and a lot of yelling. Sounds like a classic MythBusters episode—and that's exactly what Cliff and Harrison are diving into this week on Try This at Home. We’re talking high-speed chaos, indoor explosions (sorry, M5!), and the moment the Build Team strapped a rocket to a playground swing... because science. Plus, what really happens when you fire a shotgun into a giant tank of water? The result is loud, wet, and probably not OSHA-approved. Whether you’re a longtime MythBusters fan or just here for the explosions, you won’t want to miss this wild ride through one of the show’s most memorable episodes! Remembering Grant Imahara - with Fon Davis
Grant Imahara was an electrical engineer and roboticist who joined Mythbusters in 2005 as part of the Build Team and would go on to appear in more than two hundred episodes. Remembered for his robot building, Jamie impersonating, and always immaculate black dress shirts, Grant was a beloved presence whose skills as a builder took Mythbusters’ experiments to a whole other level – and whose abilities as a communicator further established the show as a tool for science education.  After his passing in 2020, Grant's friends and family established the Grant Imahara Steam Foundation with a mission to inspire emerging talent and empower historically marginalized youth in science, technology, engineering, art, and math education. This week, we're celebrating the life and work of Grant Imahara with his longtime friend, foundation board member, and fellow effects artist, Fon Davis. 320: Killer Brace Position / Cell Phone vs. Drunk Driving
Is the airline "brace position" secretly a plot to kill you faster? Or is that just mile-high nonsense? Either way, it’s exactly the kind of wacky conspiracy the MythBusters were born to bust–and we’re strapping in for the ride. Even better? This episode marks the legendary debut of Grant Imahara! He’s a fan favorite now, but how did his first day on the job go? Plus: Is talking on the phone in your car as dangerous as driving drunk? Cliff and Harrison put their hands-free mythbusting helmets on and dive in. All that, plus a big announcement: This Friday, June 27th, we’re dropping a special bonus episode celebrating the life and work of Grant Imahara, featuring his longtime friend and fellow effects wizard, Fon Davis. Do pyramids have magical mathematical protective properties? No seriously, that's the question. It's a detour into "oogy boogy" territory as the Mythbusters tackle the legend of pyramid power. Plus: we get the biggest build in Mythbusters history (so far) as Adam and Jamie see if they can build their very own jet pack! Can you break glass using nothing but your voice? That's the infamous question behind a Mythbusters world exclusive as Adam and Jamie try to capture the answer on camera for the first time ever! It might just be the show at its best in a Rushmore-level episode that also delves into the truth by the classic idiom a rolling stone gathers no moss. 317: Son of a Gun / Phone in a Thunderstorm / Trailer Troubles
Is it really dangerous to talk on the phone during a lightning storm? Maybe, but probably not as dangerous as a Civil War battlefield – and this week the Mythbusters are diving into both! It's a danger-packed episode as the Adam, Jamie, and the Build Team test high voltage and a low humor, plus take to the water for a questionable story about boating mishaps.  Harrison returns and the pod gets back to it's usual schedule and silliness on this week's new Try This at Home!    Produced by Slug Line MediaHosted by Cliff Bumgardner and Harrison StewartMusic by the Mysterious Breakmaster CylinderCover art by Barbour Shop Creative Services

Can you cool a six-pack by setting it on fire? It's a boozy thermal conundrum as Adam and Jamie try to find the best way to cool beer (hint: it involves liquid nitrogen).  Then it's an infamous and controversial Mythbusters moment when the build team tackles the Ancient Battery – and a prank on Adam goes all wrong. Plus: the rebirth of Buster! After countless crashes, explosions, and rough days, Buster finally gets a makeover with a shiny new skin and... wooden bones?  Guest host Chris Lea joins Cliff to break down every moment on this week's Try This at Home!    Produced by Slug Line MediaHosted by Cliff Bumgardner and Harrison StewartMusic by the Mysterious Breakmaster CylinderCover art by Barbour Shop Creative Services

Plus, the build team pits toy cars versus a real Dodge Viper in a downhill race for the ages! This week, Adam, Jamie, and the Build Team test two great myths full of surprises and legendary moments! Writer and filmmaker Brockton McKinney sits in to break it all down and share his impressions after watching Mythbusters for the very first time. What it was like filming Mythbusters – with Cameraman Peter Heap
How do you film falling elevators and exploding cement trucks? That was the daily question for Mythbusters cameraman Peter Heap, who joins the podcast this week to share his memories from working on the show!  Joining Mythbusters this very season, Peter was behind the camera for many iconic myths and fan-favorite episodes, including the Elevator of Death, Cement Mixup, Exploding Port-a-Potty, and so many more. Originally from Australia, Peter shares his incredible story of moving halfway across the world (and living on a houseboat!) to work on the show, and catches us up on what he's done since.  See the full interview with Peter's incredible behind-the-scenes photos on our YouTube channel: youtube.com/sluglinemedia  Produced by Slug Line MediaHosted by Cliff Bumgardner and Harrison StewartMusic by the Mysterious Breakmaster CylinderCover art by Barbour Shop Creative Services

Which is the most polite way we'll describe that all episode.  Then it's movie myth time as the team tests whether a gunshot can actually blow you off your feet – and an uncomfortable myth about the effects of torture leaves our hosts wondering how to feel about what they've just watched.
