JTCC's special guest on July's podcast is recent USTA Boys 18's National Clay Court Champion Ryan Colby, who shares his experience winning his first national championship in a wide-ranging discussion!
The Alexandria native has trained at JTCC for six years and has emerged as one of the top junior players with a #1 ranking in Virginia, #5 in the Mid-Atlantic Section, and a #14 national recruit ranking by tennisrecruiting.com.
In a revealing podcast, Colby describes the emotions of winning the National Clay Court Championships, what makes him so difficult to play against, why he chose USC over a number of excellent colleges, why he was booed at one international tournament, and what he'll remember the most about JTCC in the future.
JTCC's guest this month is former alumna and three-time tennis All-American Trice Capra! The Ellicott City native, Capra was one of the "very first members" at the JTCC when she started her full time training in at the age of 8. Eventually working her way up the tennis ranks, Capra became the no. 1 ranked player in the G14, G16, G18 divisions while winning the Eastern Bowl and Spring National Championship. Her success followed her collegiately, where she won an ACC and National Championship while also putting together one of the most illustrious seasons in Duke University history. Undefeated her freshman year with an 11-0 record, Capra's dominance translated to winning National Rookie of the Year, ACC Player of the Year and ACC Tournament Most Valuable Player.
Looking back on her tennis career and her experience with JTCC, Trice describes in the revealing podcast what led her to initially join JTCC, why she considered "JTCC a second home", and how she's still haunted by one extraordinary tennis memory "she'll never forget".
