On our first anniversary episode of TRUEOLOGY, we will be addressing the objection, “You can’t legislate morality!” This is a modern objection that lacks critical reflection, but it still tends to push Christian into a corner. This objection has successfully deterred Christians from getting involved in politics, because they have been deceived—as much as the objectors are—that Christians have nothing to contribute in the area of law-making. It is a shame that some of our brothers and sisters have actually believed this, but on this first anniversary episode, we’ll take a critical and Biblical look into he claim and how it fails basic common sense and logic. This episode serves to help Christians see law & legislation the same way God has reveal them—which is, as a covenant between parties. America may not be in a covenant with God in a formal sense, but this does not eliminate the need to adhere to the religious nature embedded in any law code, which calls us to obey a certain “god”. If that God is not the One true God, then we ought to have some concern for the underlying source of the current legislations in our society. This is not a formal argument for Christian Nationalism, nor is it a plea for Theonomy, I am simply trying to inform Christians that our worldview is crucial to how we understand legislation, and the direct response we should be armed with when confronted with the objection—“You can’t legislate morality!” Enjoy the episode!
