AAAAANNNND we're back! After a brief hiatus Tripod is back on the AIR! They tried to shut us down, but the spirit of unofficial trilogies proved too much for the fat cats over at Spotify (And wherever else you stream this thing)
In this episode the boys go back to the 80's to discuss the Cursed Childhood Trilogy, three films linked by their whimsical fantasy settings, dark tone and heavy use of puppets. Kicking things off we have The Dark Crystal!
Happy Listening folks!

They are also joined by Tasman Aspinall! His fifth appearance on the show! Together they talk about the films frenetic visual style, it's deep and powerful themes and of course that giant DONG that takes up a good 60% of the screen (You know the one).

School is back in session listeners and this time...its MUSICAL. Fresh off the heels of the disturbing and difficult films of David Lynch, Matt has taken back the reigns of programming and is delighted to dive into the fun, bubblegum world of Grease, which Tyrie argues is actually more terrifying and dystopian. The two T-Birds discuss what made this original High School musical such a smash hit in 1978, and why it's still so popular today, despite being panned by critics and ageing like a melon in the sun.

JUNE? David Lynch wasn't sure at first, and neither are we! To celebrate the month of June and their recent completion of David Lynch's LA Trilogy, Matt and Tyrie dive back into the surrealist master's biggest Hollywood film and his biggest disappointment - 1984's epic Frank Herbert adaptation, Dune. Joined by Tripod regular Simon Harvey (Baron Munchausen, Happy Together), the gang delve into this most infamous of box office bombs, with its bizarre special effects, wonderful production design, and endless voiceovers, to discuss what exactly went wrong in the deserts of Arrakis.

Alright people here it is; the episode so special Tyrie forgot to upload it. We're talking about Inland Empire. Considered David Lynch's most impenetrable film, it tells the story of a woman in trouble. At least that's what Lynch says it's about. It's filmed entirely on a small mid range camcorder, so while it doesn't exactly look like a silk purse, it generates some transfixing imagery. Stay tuned to find out what our next Reel Quick ep will cover over the month of June.

Strap yourselves in listeners, today we are delving into the depths of the illusive subconscious with a lengthy discussion on Lost Highway (1997) the first instalment in David Lynche's LA trilogy! Lynch is one of the most celebrated and discussed artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. His imagery and imagination have bewildered and bedazzled audiences across the world.
In todays episode Matt and Tyrie are joined by return guest Brendan Caroll. Their conversation covers just what the hell happens in this film (and why that doesn't necessarily matter) the influence of Lynch and his surrealist cinema and the power of DREAMS!
Enjoy!

On this instalment of Reel Quick, the boys discuss Halina Reijn's latest feature: Babygirl! A movie that came out in January and they're just talking about it now? Why? Well not only is it in conversation with the erotic thrillers cover in the DouglASS trilogy, but also because the boys saw it in January and recorded an ep about back then... Then some scheduling things came up and now we're here...
The New York Times calls Babygirl "Delicious, Spiky, Sexy and Daring" The Hollywood Reporter says it's an "Explosive game of seduction", but what do Matt and Tyrie think? Tune in to find out.

We hear you folks...we were disappointed by the lack of Douglas' ass in Disclosure too. But hopefully the film actually being ASS made up for it! This week, Matt and Tyrie draw this hot and steamy trilogy to a hot and stinky end, with a very strange film indeed. The boys discuss everything from Demi Moore's fascinating career, to the film's endlessly dump depiction of the VR world. Enjoy! Stay tuned as always the for the trilogy rankings and next week's Reel Quick film!

Let's talk about S-E-X, let's talk about ass, ass, ass! DouglASS that is! Join Tyrie and Matt as they deep dive into the Michael Douglas erotic trifecta from the 80s and 90s, kicking things off with 1987's Fatal Attraction - a film that scared the hell out of Tom Hanks and every man in America! But does it hold up today? Was Alex treated fairly by the slasher-style ending? And does seeing Glenn Close pop up in an ad halfway through the film affect the viewing?
