Transgression - My Search For the REAL Trans Agenda in Saskatchewan
Todd Rennebohm

Since 2023 the Premier of Saskatchewan, Scott Moe, and his government have set their sights on the trans community, specifically trans youth . With the creation of the controversial Bill 137 and Moe’s comments during the last provincial election, I had questions. So as a white, cisgendered, straight man, I wanted to find out what the trans agenda in Saskatchewan really is. During my search of over six months, I interviewed queer, religious and 2 spirited leaders, mental health and legal experts, health care providers, teachers, politicians, parents, and trans adults and youth.

3. Urban Life vs Rural Life vs Faith

Urban life vs Rural life vs Faith

There are some stark differences between the urban and rural cultures in Saskatchewan, including types of faith and the amount of people prioritizing faith. There are many more buildings and people in the cities which means the town hall isn’t also the post office and only bar in town and your mom isn’t the mayor, school bus driver and the town’s only bank teller. What is it like living in a small town as a trans youth? Is it hard to come out later in life in rural areas? Do kids drive grain trucks to school and does anyone say watch for deer on your way home in the city?
