22 And Jesus answering, saith to them: Have the faith of God.

St Gregory Thaumaturgus (the Wonderworker) was Bishop of Neo-Cesarea, his native city, in Pontus. He died famous for his missionary labors A.D. 276.
“9:18. As he was speaking these things unto them, behold a certain ruler
came up, and adored him, saying: Lord, my daughter is even now dead;
but come, lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
“9:19. And Jesus rising up followed him, with his disciples.
9:20. And behold a woman who was troubled with an issue of blood twelve
years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment.
9:21. For she said within herself: If I shall touch only his garment, I
shall be healed.
9:22. But Jesus turning and seeing her, said: Be of good heart,
daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole
from that hour.
9:23. And when Jesus was come into the house of the ruler, and saw the
minstrels and the multitude making a rout,
9:24. He said: Give place, for the girl is not dead, but sleepeth. And
they laughed him to scorn.
9:25. And when the multitude was put forth, he went in, and took her by
the hand. And the maid arose.
9:26. And the fame hereof went abroad into all that country.”
13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men.

14 You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house.

St Albert was a famous member of the Order of Preachers, noted for his universal learning, and apostolic zeal and devotion. He had for his pupil the celebrated St Thomas Aquinas of the same Order, and left numerous writings. He became Bishop of Ratisbon, and died A.D. 1280, being canonised and declared Doctor of the Church in 1931.
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.
Ego sum pastor bonus. Bonus pastor animam suam dat pro ovibus suis.
12 But the hireling, and he that is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth: and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep:
Mercenarius autem, et qui non est pastor, cujus non sunt oves propriae, videt lupum venientem, et dimittit oves, et fugit : et lupus rapit, et dispergit oves;
13 And the hireling flieth, because he is a hireling: and he hath no care for the sheep.

14 I am the good shepherd; and I know mine, and mine know me.

15 As the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father: and I lay down my life for my sheep.

32 Fear not, little flock, for it hath pleased your Father to give you a kingdom.

33 Sell what you possess and give alms. Make to yourselves bags which grow not old, a treasure in heaven which faileth not: where no thief approacheth, nor moth corrupteth.
Vendite quae possidetis, et date eleemosynam. Facite vobis sacculos, qui non veterascunt, thesaurum non deficientem in caelis : quo fur non appropriat, neque tinea corrumpit.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

St Marin I suffered much persecution in his defence of the Catholic Faith against the Monotholite emperors of Constantinople. He was exiled and died in A.D. 655.
33 No man lighteth a candle, and putteth it in a hidden place, nor under a bushel; but upon a candlestick, that they that come in, may see the light.

St Martin, Bishop of Tours in France, was at first a soldier, then a monk under the direction of St Hilary. Famous through the boundless charity to the poor he died A.D. 397.

The holy priest Andrew was first a member of the ecclesiastical court of Naples. He entered the Congregation of Clerks Regular , calle the Theatine Order. He died at the foot of the altar, while saying: "Introibo ad altare Dei." A.D. 1608.

God is good towards us: let us be the same towards our brethren. If we pardon our brethren from the bottom of our hearts, our Lord Jesus Christ will remit our debts.

Parable of the wicked servant. Charity towards our brother is one of the principal precepts of our Lord Jesus Christ.
14 For even as a man going into a far country, called his servants, and delivered to them his goods;
Sicut enim homo peregre proficiscens, vocavit servos suos, et tradidit illis bona sua.
15 And to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to every one according to his proper ability: and immediately he took his journey.
Et uni dedit quinque talenta, alii autem duo, alii vero unum, unicuique secundum propriam virtutem : et profectus est statim.
16 And he that had received the five talents, went his way, and traded with the same, and gained other five.
Abiit autem qui quinque talenta acceperat, et operatus est in eis, et lucratus est alia quinque.
17 And in like manner he that had received the two, gained other two.
Similiter et qui duo acceperat, lucratus est alia duo.
18 But he that had received the one, going his way digged into the earth, and hid his lord's money.

19 But after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reckoned with them.

St Charles, Cardinal Archbishop of Milan, was one of the greatest and holiest prelates of the years when the great Council of Trent was being completed and its enactments put into execution. He reformed the clergy and renewed the spirit of the moasteries in his diocese. He died A.D. 1584.
25 Amen, amen I say unto you, that the hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live.

26 For as the Father hath life in himself, so he hath given the Son also to have life in himself:

27 And he hath given him power to do judgment, because he is the Son of man.

28 Wonder not at this; for the hour cometh, wherein all that are in the graves shall hear the voice of the Son of God.

29 And they that have done good things, shall come forth unto the resurrection of life; but they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.
et procedent qui bona fecerunt, in resurrectionem vitae; qui vero mala egerunt, in resurrectionem judicii.
The practice of recommending to God the souls of the departed in that we may mitigate the great pains that they suffer, and that He may soon bring them to His glory, is most pleasing to God and most profitable to us. For those blessed souls are His eternal spouses, and they are most grateful to those who obtain their deliverance from prison, or even a mitigation of their torments. Hence, when they shall enter into heaven, they will certainly not forget those who prayed for them. It is a pious belief that God manifests to them our prayers for them, that they also may pray for us. Let us recommend to Jesus Christ , and to His holy Mother, all the souls in Purgatory, but especially those of our relatives, benefactors, friends, and enemies, and, still more particularly, the souls of those for whom we are bound to pray; and let us consider the great pains which those holy spouses of Jesus Christ endure, and offer to God for their relief the Masses of this day.
23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened to a king, who would take an account of his servants.
Ideo assimilatum est regnum caelorum homini regi, qui voluit rationem ponere cum servis suis.
24 And when he had begun to take the account, one was brought to him, that owed him ten thousand talents.
Et cum coepisset rationem ponere, oblatus est ei unus, qui debebat ei decem millia talenta.
25 And as he had not wherewith to pay it, his lord commanded that he should be sold, and his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made.
Cum autem non haberet unde redderet, jussit eum dominus ejus venundari, et uxorem ejus, et filios, et omnia quae habebat, et reddi.
26 But that servant falling down, besought him, saying: Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
Procidens autem servus ille, orabat eum, dicens : Patientiam habe in me, et omnia reddam tibi.
27 And the lord of that servant being moved with pity, let him go and forgave him the debt.
Misertus autem dominus servi illius, dimisit eum, et debitum dimisit ei.
28 But when that servant was gone out, he found one of his fellow servants that owed him an hundred pence: and laying hold of him, throttled him, saying: Pay what thou owest.
Egressus autem servus ille invenit unum de conservis suis, qui debebat ei centum denarios : et tenens suffocavit eum, dicens : Redde quod debes.
29 And his fellow servant falling down, besought him, saying: Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
Et procidens conservus ejus, rogabat eum, dicens : Patientiam habe in me, et omnia reddam tibi.
30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he paid the debt.
Ille autem noluit : sed abiit, et misit eum in carcerem donec redderet debitum.
31 Now his fellow servants seeing what was done, were very much grieved, and they came and told their lord all that was done.
Videntes autem conservi ejus quae fiebant, contristati sunt valde : et venerunt, et narraverunt domino suo omnia quae facta fuerant.
32 Then his lord called him; and said to him: Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all the debt, because thou besoughtest me:
Tunc vocavit illum dominus suus : et ait illi : Serve nequam, omne debitum dimisi tibi quoniam rogasti me :
33 Shouldst not thou then have had compassion also on thy fellow servant, even as I had compassion on thee?
nonne ergo oportuit et te misereri conservi tui, sicut et ego tui misertus sum?
34 And his lord being angry, delivered him to the torturers until he paid all the debt.
Et iratus dominus ejus tradidit eum tortoribus, quoadusque redderet universum debitum.
35 So also shall my heavenly Father do to you, if you forgive not every one his brother from your hearts.
Sic et Pater meus caelestis faciet vobis, si non remiseritis unusquisque fratri suo de cordibus vestris.
1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain, and when he was set down, his disciples came unto him.
Videns autem Jesus turbas, ascendit in montem, et cum sedisset, accesserunt ad eum discipuli ejus,
2 And opening his mouth, he taught them, saying:
et aperiens os suum docebat eos dicens :
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Beati pauperes spiritu : quoniam ipsorum est regnum caelorum.
4 Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land.
Beati mites : quoniam ipsi possidebunt terram.
5 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Beati qui lugent : quoniam ipsi consolabuntur.
6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.
Beati qui esuriunt et sitiunt justitiam : quoniam ipsi saturabuntur.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Beati misericordes : quoniam ipsi misericordiam consequentur.
8 Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.
Beati mundo corde : quoniam ipsi Deum videbunt.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called children of God.
Beati pacifici : quoniam filii Dei vocabuntur.
10 Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Beati qui persecutionem patiuntur propter justitiam : quoniam ipsorum est regnum caelorum.
11 Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake:
Beati estis cum maledixerint vobis, et persecuti vos fuerint, et dixerint omne malum adversum vos mentientes, propter me :
12 Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.
gaudete, et exsultate, quoniam merces vestra copiosa est in caelis. Sic enim persecuti sunt prophetas, qui fuerunt ante vos.
We can pay no greater honor to the Saints than by offering up to God in their name the Blood of Jesus. The efficacy of their past merits and present prayers is greatly increased when offered to God in close association with the merits and prayers of our Lord. Therefore the Church commemorates on this day all the Saints in heaven without exception , and thus honors also those who are unknown and who have no public recognition in the Liturgy.
33 Pilate therefore went into the hall again, and called Jesus, and said to him: Art thou the king of the Jews?
Introivit ergo iterum in praetorium Pilatus : et vocavit Jesum, et dixit ei : Tu es rex Judaeorum?
34 Jesus answered: Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or have others told it thee of me?
Respondit Jesus : A temetipso hoc dicis, an alii dixerunt tibi de me?
35 Pilate answered: Am I a Jew? Thy own nation, and the chief priests, have delivered thee up to me: what hast thou done?
Respondit Pilatus : Numquid ego Judaeus sum? gens tua et pontifices tradiderunt te mihi : quid fecisti?
36 Jesus answered: My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would certainly strive that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now my kingdom is not from hence.
Respondit Jesus : Regnum meum non est de hoc mundo. Si ex hoc mundo esset regnum meum, ministri mei utique decertarent ut non traderer Judaeis : nunc autem regnum meum non est hinc.
37 Pilate therefore said to him: Art thou a king then? Jesus answered: Thou sayest that I am a king. For this was I born, and for this came I into the world; that I should give testimony to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice.
Dixit itaque ei Pilatus : Ergo rex es tu? Respondit Jesus : Tu dicis quia rex sum ego. Ego in hoc natus sum, et ad hoc veni in mundum, ut testimonium perhibeam veritati : omnis qui est ex veritate, audit vocem meam.
