HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Halloween Spooktacular: Night of the Living Dead (1990), Dead Sleep & The Strangers: Chapter One
It’s Halloween at THWTP and Dave and Tom are celebrating the gayest way possible — by locking the doors, dimming the lights, and playing their favorite game: "close your eyes and guess is it the inside of a pumpkin or something else"! First off is Tom Savini’s slick remake Night of the Living Dead (1990), to the bizarre medical nightmare Dead Sleep, and finally the tense, mask-wearing mayhem of The Strangers: Chapter One, the boys unpack the terror, camp, and chocolate things!
The summer episode is here! The guys watched The Substance, Final Destination Bloodlines and Sinners! Enjoy!
Season Finale! Switch between audio and video!
Thanks for joining us on our final episode of the season and first time on VIDEO! Today the gang discuss "cemetery movies". First off is the early Bill Paxton film Mortuary! Which has a no-longer-pure Mary Elizabeth McDonough, fresh off The Waltons and ready to get dirty! Next up is the sickest, goriest piece of Italian sleaze ever to wash ashore, The Gates of Hell aka City of the Living Dead. By the maestro himself, Lucio Fulci. Also! Dave blesses us with his in-person Fulci story! Finally it's a freaky, funhouse of a film.. the fart-tastic Spookies! Enjoy folks and let us know what you think of Tom's complexion!
Today's movies are:
Mother's Day, Pig Killer, Jaws the Revenge
Producer's Note: please forgive the echo in this episode. We recorded by candle light in an ancient cathedral in the mountains.
Join Dave and Tom as they slip into some leather chaps, pick out their favorite colored hanky and take a sweaty (and judgy) tour of some gay themed horror movies!
First off is an incestuous little film about a boy, his deranged mother and lots of milk! Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker (1981) aka Night Warning. Starring Susan Tyrrell, Jimmy McNichol, Bo Svenson and an early appearance from Bill Paxton!
Next up is a sneaky little release from Vinegar Syndrome called Hanging Heart (1989) which has gay themes ✅ camp appeal ✅ and loads of head scratching ✅.
Finally it’s a detour to the meat packing district with the legendary Cruising by Exorcist director (not Exorcist 3!) William Friedkin and starring Al Pacino as the very scared looking undercover cop / real actor who doesn’t quite know which movie he signed up for. This is the roughest of all trades, folks! Enjoy!
It’s a day of Dave’s picks ya’ll and Tom ain’t having it!
The bros dive into three distinct films: Heart Eyes, a recent indie romance / slasher perfect for Valentine’s Day complete with smooching, hand holding and eye gouging. Nightmare (1981), a twisted slasher where the killer has a “Blacula” mask. Also it’s made by an Italian so you know it’s messed up! And finally Kalifornia (1993), a gritty road thriller starring Brad Pitt, David Duchovny and Tom’s favorite other sister - Juliette Lewis! There is much to discuss in this episode but the only thing worth mentioning is Tom’s revelation of “quick swirl”.
Enjoy!!
Hello THWTP fans! This week life-partners Dave and Tom go on a poopie flinging adventure with a trio of the good, the bad and the fugly.
Dave goes on the attack as these were mostly Tom’s suggestions, with our first fan request! First off is the lowest ranking A24 film of all time, woah! It’s the return of Brandy baby! The Front Room (2024), directed by the brothers Eggers, Max and Sam. Next is a fan requested regional horror thing called Bring Me a Skin for Dancing In (2024), directed by Randy Kent. And finally it’s a modern French take on the Rape / Revenge genre with Revenge (2017) directed by Coralie Fargeat of The Substance fame. Enjoy!
Yama Hama it’s Fright Night! Thanks for joining us for another episode of THWTP! Today Dave and Tom are bitten with the Vampire bug once again thanks to the Nosferatu hype machine! First off the gang watch the 1986 Grace Jones vehicle VAMP directed by Richard Wenk and starring Chris Makepeace, Billy Drago and Long Duck Dong himself, Gedde Watanabe! Next up a sequel to a classic, Fright Night 2 from 1988. Dave covers some very interesting history of this odd flick. Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace and returning from part 1 are Roddy McDowall and William Ragsdale plus you get Brian Thompson of Cobra fame! Rough trade anyone? And finally we get the long anticipated new film from Robert Eggers, Nosferatu! Starring Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Bill Skarsgård and of course Willem Dafoe! Lastly, would you do us a kindness and please leave a review (good or bad) on Apple Podcast app? It really helps us! Thanks and enjoy!
Join us for a very special Holiday episode!
Tom and Dave cuddle up next to the fire and unwrap some very special Christmas horror!
Starting with John Waters’ all-time favorite Christmas movie, the 1980 slasher Christmas Evil directed by Lewis Jackson. Followed by the big budget holiday monster mayhem of Krampus from 2015 directed by Michael Dougherty of Trick ‘r Treat fame and starring Adam Scott and Toni Collette. Finally the gang dive into a lesser known but just as twisted Better Watch Out from 2016 starring Olivia DeJonge, Levi Miller and directed by (Tom’s new obsession) Chris Peckover.
Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
Happy Thanksgiving! We’re serving up a side of Sasquatch with our candied yams! Today’s episode is ALL BIGFOOT movies - Roar! Dave and Tom are joined by THWTP super fan Sean Holt. The trio review a grimy video nasty called Night of the Demon (1980). Followed by another shaky-cam entry from one half of the Blair Witch team, Exists (2014). Finally something called Primal Rage (2018), which stars a man who is not rough trade but smooth trade??? Hmmm… give it a listen to help translate this strange language. 🦃
Sean has his own podcast, The Movie Marathon Man!
