To All the Men I've Tolerated Before
Summer Break: Purity Culture and Sex Ed
Natalie is joined by sex educator Erica Smith to talk about how our obsession with purity culture affects the quality of sex education we are given. Sex education should be something that is delivered to people without bias and without the idea that virginity and religion should be at the center of your sexual identity. Erica is the creator of the Purity Culture Dropout program that aims to provide support to people who are wanting to de-program from purity culture and take part in sex education that is queer inclusive, safe, and informative. The episode will center around how we became so purity driven when it came to sexuality, the consequences we face when sex is only viewed from the lens of religious morality, and what steps we can be taking to make sure we are talking about sex in ways that everyone has the knowledge to make decisions based in how they actually feel.

To All the Men I've Tolerated Before
Summer Break: Taylor Swift
This Summer Break Replay is in honor of Taylor Swift owning her entire music catalogue.

f you haven’t heard, Natalie went to the Eras Tour. That means she has been doing a deep dive on her favorite songs from Taylor Swift. Which means that she has also been reflecting on how misogyny plays into the songs she has written and how widespread everyday misogyny is reflected throughout Taylor’s career. Elizabeth Kyle is the perfect Swiftie to help guide Natalie through this conversation. The two women discuss the social dynamics that goes into being a Swiftie, the focus on the men she has had relationships with, and how she has been treated as a professional in the music industry. Between the two of them, they go straight from a Lover to their Midnights Era, and talk about how being aware of how internalized misogyny and widespread cultural misogyny affects people on a larger scale. Topics that are confronted are the way we view success among women creators, to the way we talk about women who have had bad relationships, and how we talk about other women’s bodies and our own bodies. And that’s some real Vigilante Shit.

Summer Break: Diversity in the Boardgame Industry
We have a Summer Break Flashback this week! This felt important given all the information I've been seeing on how tariffs will affect indie boardgame publishers.

Kervin of For Why Games joins Natalie to talk about his experiences advocating for diversity within board game development. He explains the steps and measures he took to create his first game, Allow Me to Mansplain and the ways he intentionally crafted rules and gameplay to foster discussions around the concept of mansplaining. The episode also dives into what is currently taken into consideration when it comes to diversity in game creation and where we need to head next to make sure gaming is a welcoming place for everyone. Natalie and Kervin also share their personal experiences of wanting a safe, diverse community to play games with and what it's like when you’re having a hard time finding it or you’re not being heard when explaining why the current situation isn’t making you feel safe and welcomed.

Make sure you have subscribed to us on Patreon! (currently running a free trial on all tiers) It is the only place where you can find our new variety series, The Misogyny Meltdown! There will be comedy, creativity, and a lot of melting down in each episode. January covered the Misogynist of the Year award ceremony, February is all about love.

Anora
Julia Washington (Prose and Glow) and Natalie are dissecting their complicated feelings on Best Picture winner, Anora. Anora is written and directed by Sean Baker and tells the story of an exotic dancer named Ani who after a whirlwind couple of days finds herself married and then divorced by a Russian wealthy man named Vanya. This episode will cover what fell flat for both women when it came to Ani’s character development, the worldbuilding, and whether or not Anora really deserved all the praise it was getting for being a movie about an empowered woman and a statement against how wealthy people in an Oligarch treat the working class. And we will return to our prevalent question of who is actually qualified to write stories about the feminine experience.

Eldest Daughter Capricorns
Alrinthea Carter and Natalie have two huge things in common, they are both eldest daughters in their families and capricorns. Eldest daughters are known for having a high sense of responsibility and a need to please those around them. Capricorns are the astrological signs that are most known for being loyal, ambitious, and hardworking. Natalie and Alrinthea will go through key moments in their lives where being either an eldest daughter or Capricorn shaped their experiences, identities within their families, and their viewpoints on who they are as people.

Flashback: Learning Your Truth and Trusting Yourself
Natalie is joined this week by Shohreh Davoodi, author of the weekly newsletter The Queer Agenda, self-trust coach, and host of Conjuring Up Courage. The women have a heartfelt conversation on all the ways women were conditioned to not listen to their guts or trust what their bodies were thinking, their hearts were feeling, or their brains were thinking. Shohreh will go through her experience with discovering her sexuality and identifying as a lesbian. This hits home with Natalie as she grapples with what dating and her own romantic life may look like in the future as she re-examines who it is she is actually attracted to and interested in, The women will dive deep on how it is okay to experiment, what it means to take chances even if they may be wrong, and how we deserve a society that gives us a safe place to try new things if that’s what we need to do.
