Fortysomething (July 6, 2003)
Gabe and Anastasia are sent to the era of whale tails and yellow ribbons to review a British dramedy starring Hugh Laurie!

Gabe’s Week

  1. Found contemporaneous photos of himself: with his friend Mike, smoking cigs, behind the counter at the movie theatre
  2. Reminisced about the beautiful old movie theatre he worked at, Laemmle’s Fairfax Theatre in Los Angeles, and his experience working at the premiere of Tommy Wiseau’s The Room
  3. Went to one of his old, soon-to-be-shuttered hangouts, Hollywood Star Lanes, as seen in The Big Lebowski
  4. Played some Snake II on an old Nokia, and saw 28 Days Later on the big screen
  5. Observed birthdays of Jojo Siwa, Shaedon Sharpe, Nikola Jovic, Quvenzhané Wallis, and death days of Gregory Peck, Barry White, Katharine Hepburn and Bob Hope

Anastasia’s Week

  1. Took the Concorde to Olde London Town before it makes its last flight in November. Got some early 2000s fashions at TopShop
  2. Caught Federer vs Philippoussis, had a Pimm’s Cup, and caught a glimpse of new couple Kate and William on the last day of Wimbledon
  3. Declined to attend a film because nothing looked good at the UK box office
  4. Watched Mastermind on UK television, or “telly”, and listened to Beyonce’s Dangerously in Love album
  5. Revisited her study abroad in Leeds, did some snogging, and saw comedy from young Alex Horne and Flight of the Conchords
