We have a new Doctor!

Ncuti Gatwa was announced as the Fourteenth Doctor, starting in 2023 under returning showrunner Russell T. Davies. We're joined by Richard (@CleverDickFilms) to talk about what we can expect in the "RTD2" era. However, we don't forget that we still have a Doctor to say goodbye to. Fans have been teased by what awaits the final appearance of the Thirteen Doctor in the BBC centenary special. How will we leave Jodie Whittaker's Time Lord and her companions, Yaz and Dan? Series 6 - Matt Smith

Series 13 Recap

Jessica and Phillip continue their "classic Who" watch with Series 13, starring Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladen as the Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith. This completes their second season with the Fourth Doctor - they talk about the differences between Pertwee and Baker, how Sarah Jane holds up as the "sole" companion of the series, and what the best stories were. We often talk about Clever Dick Films, the data (and humor) packed Doctor Who YouTube channel that analyzes the different eras of the program. It's past time to spend time with the face behind the channel - Richard Carrier. Richard recently went from behind the camera to in front of it with his recent appearance on "The Chase." He talks about his experience as a contestant with Who alum host Bradley Walsh, his visit to the London-based "The Who Shop," and his visit to the immersive experience "Doctor Who: Time Fracture." His adventures keep us in the spirit of time & space as we await the next series of new Who!

Alex Kingston is Moll Flanders!

Our favorite Whovian actors have a wide filmography - so we look into one of our favorites, River Song herself, in a 1996 mini-series, "The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders." Alex Kingston plays the titular role, based on the Daniel Defoe novel, as she seeks to be a "gentlewoman" in a society that pushes back against women. The four episodes span a wide assortment of romances and adventures (and children!) that leave their mark on Alex's performance. In our look into the TARDIS library, the couple examine the Academy Award-winning short film written and directed by the 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi, "Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life."

"Staged" - Series One

Television in 2020 was quite different, due to the pandemic. But there was one show that fully embraced the reality and ... made a comedy out of it. "Staged," starring the Tenth Doctor himself, David Tennant, and Michael Sheen, made the most of COVID restriction by embarking on six hilarious episodes in its first series. We talk about the characters/actors and how it worked.

Series 5 Overview

When our new Whovian Char visits, that means it's time to review a whole series! Char just finished her introduction to the Matt Smith era with Series 5 - so she joins us to talk about her first impressions of the 11th Doctor, Amy Pond, Rory Williams, and that darn crack in the wall. The Diary of River Song, Series 4 Review

The audio adventures of Professor River Song continue with some temporal shenanigans and a devil of a villian. We look at the Series 4 entry of this Big Finish box set that finds River traveling with some new companions to save a "time-less" planet, face a time-bending race of baddies, and meeting up with a rather familiar face along the way ... maybe one of the old favorites?

Tenth Doctor Specials

It was the end of an era in "Doctor Who." When showrunner Russell T. Davies announced he would be stepping down from the revived show, fans were further rocked when David Tennant later stated he would be leaving the TARDIS too. So what was left to do? A series of specials that would take the Doctor to his next regeneration and end the Tennant Era. First-time "Who"-er Charlynn Schmiedt joins to share how she learned to say goodbye to 10. Law & Order: UK

Those Whovian actors pop up in other series all the time, but maybe the greatest collection can be found in the rare U.S. to U.K.-made television show, "Law & Order: UK." From American producer Dick Wolf, stories ripped from its American counterpart are acted out on the streets of London by "Doctor Who" companions "Law" actor Bradley Walsh and "Order" actress Freema Agyeman. We discuss series 1 and 2 (inexplicable labeled "season one" on the U.S. DVD) of this procedural show, its other Who connections, and how this American show works as a British legal drama.

Series Four - The Tennant Era

First Time Who Watcher Charlynn Schmiedt once again joins to talk about her new experiences watching "old" Who. This time it's series four - which can be defined in a few ways; we discuss the episodes from "Partners in Crime" to "The Next Doctor" special. There's new(ish) companion Donna Noble, the re-appearances of Rose Tyler and Martha Jones, and an epic reunion of all companions and Dalek enemies at the end. Revolution of the Daleks - New Year's Special

Second Doctor fans continue to enjoy the new release of animated "lost" episodes of the Troughton era. The Doctor, Jamie, and Victoria find themselves on Earth as they battle a mystery in the natural gas pipelines, a company filled with troublesome figures, and the ultimate departure of one of their own. The story, the actual animation, and the behind-the-scenes featurette make this 1968 production come alive (again!) for all Whovians. Series 11 (Classic) Wrap-up

Jessica and Phillip finished their initial watch of the Third Doctor era, and now look back at the series that closed this chapter, introduced Sarah Jane Smith as a companion, and provided some memorable moments. From pseudo-historical "The Time Warrior" to unfortunate special effects of "Invasion of the Dinosaurs," from the mandatory Dalek story of "Death to the Daleks" to a rare sequel to an earlier adventure with "The Monster of Peladon." Then there is the final serial of "Planet of the Spiders," where the Third Doctor faces his fear and ... regenerates. Do you have a favorite episode or moment in Series 11?
