"Don't fall more in love with the call then with Jesus, the caller."
"If you don't have time to look forward to what is coming up, or celebrate what has happened, you're too busy."
"Without margin, you can't make sense of things."
"It's a joy to know that God is at work even when we are not - it doesn't all depend on us, like grace, we experience God's work aside from ours."

“A goal is a specific event that once achieved, becomes a piece of history to be superseded by a new goal. A vision or view of the future is an ongoing, evolving, hopeful look into the future that stirs the hearts and minds of people who know they will never see it’s end or limit.” – Ken Blanchard, Lead Like Jesus Revisited
Jesus had goals and a vision.
The goals were simple steps. Go two by two into each town; have people sit down in the green grass and pass this food around; follow me; come and see; go borrow the donkey; and on and on. As each goal was accomplished, it became part of the story and they moved on to the next thing that may happen.
The vision was ongoing. Jesus had a vision for the kingdom. He spoke about his Father and the kingdom of God. He modeled a vision of listening to the Father’s every word and acting on it. He lived into the vision of focusing on individuals, caring for the lost, and showing God’s love to the world.
Goals are steps in the process. The vision is the overriding picture that motivates and calls us to invest.

In general, our culture hates Mondays...
But with a couple little tweaks, Monday mornings can become a great part of the week - a new start!
You may grow to love the jolt of Mondays, but at least enjoy it - it's 1/7 of your life!

Podcast episode #150 is me reading a poem I wrote several years ago. This is short episode, but enjoy!
Since I spend a lot of time with twenty-somethings through Harvest Ministry, the book DEFINING DECADE inspired me! It has so much good stuff, and I pulled out three things I wanted to share from it.
QUOTES:
“Your twenties matter. Eighty percent of life’s most defining moments occur by age thirty-five.”
“We think that by avoiding decisions now, we keep all of our options open for later.”
“You can’t just pull some great career out of a hat in your thirties. You’ve got to start in your twenties.”

I must have been hungry when I recorded this podcast - all my ministry outreach expamples included food - haha!
Too often, church leaders talk about the summer slump and our folks begin to live down to the expectation -- no one is ever here, so we shouldn't be either.

The definition of firebreak is “an obstacle to the spread of fire, such as a strip of open space in a forest.” Much like firebreaks help subdue raging forest fires, firebreaks on the calendar help curb what could become insanity. They become an obstacle to the craziness that could easily consume. You might need one during this busy season.

If you’re in ministry, you’re most likely working with teams. Pastors work with ministry staff, leadership teams, church councils, boards, deacons, and missions. Student and Kid’s Ministry Leaders work with volunteers, parents, and students. Worship leaders work with band members, vocalists, tech ministry, and potentially other teams.
Whether your teams are short-term or have been serving together for years, it might be good to remind yourself of the following five commitments and share them with your teams. Consider this list as a team member as well as a team leader:
1) Commit to giving 100% 2) Commit to getting better 3) Commit to staying positive. 4) Commit to the team’s mission. 5) Commit to each other.
Don't give yourself an out... don't expect failure. Confidently talk about your plans as if you believe they could happen!
