Thursdays With Moire Episode 106: Space Force (Starship Troopers, District 9, and Edge Of Tomorrow)

On this episode of Thursdays With Moire, we're doing our part and taking war into space. And by that, I mean we'll be watching a trio of Sci-Fi war films and screaming about them into the endless void of space in the hopes of finding people who will listen. We'll be joined by filmmaker Stephen Beason once again as we focus on Paul Verhoeven's cult classic Starship Troopers, Neil Blomkamp's Halo movie..... I mean District 9, and the underrated 2014 box office flop (unfortunately) All You Need Is Kill. Or Edge Of Tomorrow. Or Live, Die Repeat. Ah, fuck it, it's that Tom Cruise sci-fi war movie, you get the gist. Paris when it sizzles.

Thursdays With Moire Episode 105: German Guilt (Cross Of Iron, Remember, All Quiet On The Western Front)

As Remembrance Day has now passed, I believe that while the sacrifices of our own soldiers were hard enough; we need to understand that they were far from the only casualties lost to war. And over on the next podcast of Thursdays With Moire, we're joined by our good friend Stephen Beason to explore the German perspectives during WW1 and WW2 through different lenses. From the adaptation of the 70s cult classic Cross Of Iron, to Atom Egoyan's overlooked film Remember, and closing it off we'll be discussing the recent 2022 reboot of the classic story All Quiet On The Western Front. So if you have the time, then please, join us as we further delve into the impact that war had not just on other countries but on cinema as a whole.

The Self Nature Of Adaptation feat. Blonde

Join us for the first open panel discussion on the Prestigious Connoisseurs Of Content! With new projects and an unpredictable schedule from our jobs, my co-host Devon King and I have decided to have our Thursdays With Moire episodes every other week instead of every week. With that in mind, on this episode, we've decided to parttake on an open discussion involving Blonde and the challenges of adapting books, celebrities, and real events onto the silver screen or the TV screen.  Darryl Ayles and his lovely fiancee Jamara Forbes are both incredibly talented filmmakers and proud owners of Orange Hat Film Productions in London, and they were more than happy to lead this discussion along with coming up with the idea in the first place. Along with the dynamic duo; we're also joined by the likes of Nova Scotian artist Arron Kramers, London cinematographer and filmmaker Mason Buchko, and more!

Thursdays With Moire Episode 103: One Hundred Years Of Morbin' (Nosferatu [1922], Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Morbius)

What time is it? It's Morbin' time! Because over on Thursdays With Moire, it's time to morb into a vampire and discuss three very different pieces of vampiric cinema for the third episode celebrating the spooky month on October! American filmmaker Stephen Beason will be joining us once again as we discuss the original 1920's silent film classic Nosferatu (And hopefully the Werner Herzog version too), Francis Ford Coppola's first foray into horror with Bram Stoker's Dracula, and of course, the most movie of all time. A movie that had a budget, characters, and cinematography. The one and only..... MORBIUS! So tune in however you can and get your fangs ready for an episode all about vampires!

Thursdays With Moire 100th Episode Special (Hercules, Law Abiding Citizen, and Bohemian Rhapsody)

Well guys, I can't believe it, but we are up to our 100th episode over on the Thursdays With Moire film podcast! And to celebrate my co-host Devon King, guest filmmaker Stephen Beason are coming together for a very special episode. Because haven't you ever wondered how a film would fare differently with some tweaks to the story? Have you ever had a fan fiction or a fan narrative from your favorite or least favorite stories? Well, this episode is all about discussing three different films that we have our own separate ideas on how to re-structure and re-contextualize these narratives to potentially make them more interesting. For example, as a huge Greek Mythology fan, I decided to take on Disney's Hercules; as a fan of music, Devon King decided to talk about the infamous Bohemian Rhapsody; and as a fan of crime thrillers, Stephen Beason decided to dissect a 2009 writer's strike victim by the name of Law Abiding Citizen. So we hope to you join us and listen in one way or another, but either way, thank you all so much for supporting our channel over the years! Here's to 100 more episodes and 100 more strange topics in the future! Cheers!
