E102: Conversation with Emma Bacon: Healing from PTSD, Finding balance and Living with Purpose

In this episode of my show Through a Trauma-informed Lens: Soma, Psyche and Soul, I have a pleasure to have a heartfelt conversation with Emma Bacon, and learn about her powerful journey from living with complex PTSD and burnout to creating a soul-led, trauma-informed life rooted in somatics, seasonal living and community. Emma shares how she transitioned from intense, masculine practices to softer, more somatic and nourishing approach - and how yoga philosophy, somatic coaching, and deep listening to her body transformed not only her well-being but also her business, Learn, Live, Give. We talk about retreat facilitation, the impact of embodied learning, and what it really means to build a life and business aligned with your values, energy, and life season. This is an inspiring conversation about healing, courage, and creating spaciousness for what truly matters.

Emma Bacon is a trauma-informed somatic teacher and coach, yoga teacher, retreat host, author and podcaster (Yoga Matters Podcast) promoting health and wellbeing from the inside out. She is a co-owner of Learn Live Give Ltd - a lifestyle business that promotes learning about holistic wellness, living according to the principles learnt, and then giving back to others, in a multitude of ways. Emma teaches half-day, one-day and weekend retreats in the UK, in addition to international retreats in places such as Sri Lanka, Costa Rica and India. Her retreats combine various yoga styles, breathing techniques, somatic practices, and meditation with self-development activities, journaling prompts and reflective discussions.

Emma's podcast, Yoga Matters, explores yoga philosophies and their relevance in modern day times. She records alongside her slightly skeptical husband, creating an interesting  dynamic that keeps topics relatable, entertaining and accessible by all. She’s also in the process of creating a suite of short online courses in relation to somatic practices, yoga philosophy and meditation, with plans to write and publish additional books, complimenting her in-person and online presence.
