In this 6-minute episode, Jose rambles about how he messed up by not upgrading his computer. Many would consider this "splurging" but Jose might think otherwise. He talks about conscious spending, a.k.a. spending on the things that you love and cutting back mercilessly on the things you don't.

I know the panic you are feeling. I get it, I’m there, too.
Many of you may find yourselves at home, panic-waiting for toilet paper and for an answer to this pandemic. When will it stop? In the meantime you are either self-quarantining or forced to stay at home. What you may fail to see is the benefit of locking yourself for weeks at a time. Remember that time you said you really wanted to write a feature film, but that you just didn’t have any time? I get it, you may still have to work remotely or figure out a way to make do with what you have. But many of you are also on paid leave. Please don’t get me wrong: Make sure you secure yourself and your family before you begin thinking about growing in your craft. But if you’re there, or if you believe this is the right time, then I’m here for you. In this video I discuss the three things you can do while at home.

Jose encourages you to replace cost with value. Cost is the marketplace tag on any item, whether in terms of money or time. Value is the actual benefit that that item provides for you. He goes over his preferred categories of expenditure (food and film equipment) and his least favorite (phones, clothes and cars), and how you, too, are able to take control of your space.
Spend in the things you love. Cut on the things you don't. Only then will you be able to free up space for the things that matter to you.
In this blog read, Jose explains how debt has the potential of working against your creativity and how poor financial management can lead to the unintentional neglect of that which artists hold to most dearly - their creative freedom.
