I keep reading articles telling me that craft beer is dead, the some kind of boom or bubble is bursting and that we're all doomed. Is that true? Also... why am I drinking Voltage Peppermint schnapps before the holiday season? What can is under the wrap? There's a lot to unpack on this week's episode!
The title might have NOTHING to do with what we ended up talking about, but that doesn't mean that we don't have a lot to talk about on this week's episode. Quite the opposite, actually. I start things off (after the regular technical difficulties) with 'The Schnappening' that was a little sweet... not peaches... but candy-like and delicious. From there we talked about everything from what's happening at Bad Tom Smith in Madisonville to the current status of 'Intoxicating Hemp' here in Ohio. The upcoming Halloween celebration wraps things up for another action packed week!
Here's what I drank this week: Kruskovac Pear Liqueur, Streetside Strawberry Jelly Donut Demogorgon.

I realized earlier in the day that I hadn't had a cocktail on the show (that isn't a show) for a very long time... so I figured I'd remedy that on this week's episode. I ALSO realized that in addition to not having one, I'm also a lousy bartender. These two facts combined together result in the episode's live audience creating a cocktail for me - and it ends up... interesting.
To keep things a little tastier, I ended up by cracking into a can of Urban Artifact's 'Fall Bear' brown ale... a NOT sour beer from the brewery that way too many people think aren't able to make a not sour beer.
It was a great episode!

It's a great weekend to open a couple beers and hang out! Cincinnati brings home a whole bucketload of gold medals in a GABF that saw Ohio set new records with it's wins. On top of that... hemp-derived THC is banned? What is going on?!
It's a recipe for a good episode of the show that's not a show.

Maybe it's a little bit of clickbait... but Oktoberfest season is officially ending for me this week (I mean... I have quite a bit of Oktoberfest beers in my fridge to drink) and I'm gearing up for the next season to come rolling in!
We crack open a couple of beers (MadTree Light Lime, and a Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald) and talk about all the stuff that's coming up on the schedule!
Sometimes, you just need to drink something a little, well... strange. It's a part of a bigger picture of what's happening in the beverage alcohol space.
Let's drink, let's talk... let's figure this out.

Coming off an incredible Oktoberfest weekend... we've definitely got a few things to talk about! We kick it off by drinking a little pour of something from a (fake?) doctor, which ended up not being as bad as I thought it would be, moving right into a couple beers that ended up being just as delicious as I expected.
We talk about Michelob Ultra's new role as the best-selling beer in the United States, dethroning Modelo from its former perch.
We recap Oktoberfest Zinzinnati... which reminded me that the move down to the river has solidified this as one of the city's best Oktoberfests.
March First has moved into self-distribution, and we have to talk about that, too... right before exploring a new product from Charlie Sheen? This is definitely wild.
Just as a reminder, this episode is brought to you by folks just like you. If you want to support this or any of the stuff that I do, you can always go to http://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/Support to do so!
This one starts out rough - with a pour of something horrid called 'Yukon Jack Snakebite'. It might even be the worst thing that I've ever tried on this show, which is saying A LOT. I followed it up with a big glass of Fabled Brew Works' Last Call of Cthulu, which was quite the improvement!
We talk about Verge Brewing's announcement that they are no longer working on a taproom in Delhi, and have canceled their plans to open their doors after an extremely long and winding road to do so.
I talk about Cincy Beer Week, and how it isn't "really" happening this year. I've accepted my failure, and am making a vow to get it all in order for next year.
After talking about a lot of upcoming events, we covered Northwood Cider and its status (it's for sale) and then rolled right into a bunch of label approvals to see some of the new products that might be coming down the pike!
The weather is changing, I'm busier than ever... it can all only mean one thing - It's officially pumpkin season! Let's have a drink and unpack it all (not without plenty of chaos as usual...)

Let's go! It's late, but there are no rules when it's not a show! This week's episode is focused on my weekend of camping with the family, drinking a bunch of beers - and MAYBE a little showdown to spice things up!

Fueled by a conversation about another local taproom, I've been wondering what's going on what I've dubbed the 'Big-Osas' - let's crack open a beer and talk about it!
It's never an easy thing when a local taproom closes, and it's even worse when it's a local institution like Listermann Brewing Company. I have a ton of thoughts that I've been working my way through - and what better way to work through them than live on a show with you!
Grab a drink, and let's see what happens.

There are plenty of things happening at any given time here in Cincinnati's drinking scene, and even more that we can speculate about coming in the near future.
I think we should do that! Let's get to speculation!
There's been plenty of news lately about how the city is way too dangerous, and it's clearly scaring people away - which is bad for some of our favorite businesses. We need to talk about what we should worry about, or what we shouldn't.Just a reminder that this show wouldn't be possible without folks like you! Thank you for your continued support at http://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/support
I'm back from a long weekend away with the family, I have a bunch of bug bites to show for it, and I am feeling a little nervous as I head into my "busy season". It sounds like a good recipe for a great episode of the show that isn't a show!
On this episode, we sip on some Becherovka, and a glass of Orange Juice... or an IPA... or NE IPA... something.
If you like this show, or any of the stuff that I do, make sure you head to TheGnarlyGnome.com/support to show some love!
Summertime brings plenty of drinking experiences, and plenty of beers that suddenly taste great... or maybe they tasted great the whole time? I don't know... but we'll figure it out by drinking a bunch of them. We also talk about what inspired this whole rabbit hole I've been tumbling down, a beer from Sierra Nevada.
It's been a heck of a week. My oldest broke her arm this weekend - that was fun - and the news of Ohio Eagle closing, or selling, or SOMEthing is fresh. It sounds like we should probably crack open a drink and talk about it all!
I drink some Glazed Donut vodka, that was gross - some Malort Spritz, that was weird - and a GREAT unfiltered lager from Chicago!
I titled the episode before we went live, so cut me some slack. I didn't actually talk about burgers as much as I thought I would. Instead, I talked about label approvals, and drank some of the most terrible "stuff' that I have had in a very long time.
Part family vacation, part excuse to figure out if you can ACTUALLY drink in Gatlinburg and enjoy the process (hint, you can) - I just got back from a few days in the mountains, and while I have some great content coming from that - first we have to have a drink together!
It's a hot one out there, and it's put me in the mood for a good Gin and Tonic. What local gin makes the BEST gin and tonic, though? I'll roll through a nice little selection of them to figure out what MY pick is!
