Even though Ember is no longer part of the tribe, she sees it as her responsibility to seek out and save Mender. To make sure no one learns she is there she lock sends to Mender to notify him that help is here, but Scouter sends for Mender at the same time. Scouter realizes Ember is there and gets annoyed since he already feels that the tribe is starting to doubt him. Teir uses his power to turn Lehrigens dog against him and Ember gets her chance to talk to Lehrigen.  Lehrigen is forced to fight with the Wolfriders when Rowb and his men attack. When Lehrigen gets stabbed in his leg and Mender tries to heal him, Scouter is ready to shoot him.
