The Truth
Israel is waging ‘war of aggression’, says Iran’s FM spokesperson, warns of full regional conflict
interview, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei denounced Israel's "war of aggression by a genocidal regime," pledging Iran would defend itself with "all force." On potential US involvement, he cautioned: "We're confident our Arab neighbours - with whom we have excellent relations - won't permit their territory to be used against a Muslim neighbour, despite Israel's attempts to drag them into war." While confirming Iran would retaliate against bases launching attacks, he emphasised: "Our current focus remains Israel's aggression - our responses have been precise and proportional." Baghaei revealed the timing proved Israeli bad faith: "They struck two days before scheduled Oman negotiations." He dismissed US credibility ("This aggression required Washington's approval") while demanding UN intervention. Defending Iran's nuclear programme, he challenged: "Where are the IAEA's violation reports? The true criminals bomb inspected facilities." His grave warning: "Mark my words - unchecked, this aggression will consume the entire region."

US Preps for Strikes on Iran: Will Trump Open the ‘Gates of Hell’?
Professor Mohammad Marandi of the University of Tehran joins the show to discuss the US & Israel’s escalating war on Iran. Israel’s unprovoked attack on Iran has already killed hundreds, through strikes across the country on military, nuclear and civilian infrastructure as well as assassinations of military commanders and scientists. Prof. Marandi will break down how this aggression is intensifying Iranian resistance and unity—and what the outbreak of full-scale war could mean for the region and the world. Eli Clifton, a Senior Advisor at the Quincy Institute and one of the last American think tank analysts to visit Tehran, joins the show to discuss how the US is once again on the brink of an entirely avoidable war in the Middle East. Just weeks ago, Iranian officials signaled a clear willingness to reach a diplomatic agreement in backchannel talks with US envoy Steve Witkoff. Did Israel launch airstrikes on Iran to derail those efforts? Clifton discusses what Iran put on the table, what the US chose to ignore, and how Washington is now steering the world toward yet another disastrous and potentially global conflict. Teresa Romero, President of the United Farm Workers, joins the show to expose the truth behind Trump’s claim that ICE raids on agricultural worksites have been “paused.” While Trump announced a pullback amid mounting public outrage over immigration raids, Romero says ICE and Border Patrol agents are still targeting farmworkers across the country. Romero will explain how the so-called pause is a smokescreen and will share the impact of these ongoing raids on farmworker communities.

Trump’s return is not just a political comeback—it’s a warning. As the tendency towards fascism gains strength in the U.S., what does that mean for the world’s most powerful empire? And what kind of resistance can actually stop it? On this episode of Dispatches, Rania Khalek is joined by Eugene Puryear to break down what rising fascism looks like in an American context, from the weaponization of ICE to the collapse of international law in Gaza, and why anti-imperialism must be at the heart of any movement that wants to fight back. The Road to Mandalay: Inside Myanmar's earthquake catastrophe
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Myanmar in March 2025, devastating communities across the country. Al Jazeera was the only international broadcaster with a team on the ground to witness the unfolding crisis. What emerged was a story of survival against overwhelming odds. From the capital Naypyidaw to the spiritual heart of Mandalay, our cameras captured the desperate search for survivors and the scale of destruction. At the epicentre, entire neighbourhoods lay in ruins as hundreds of thousands of people found themselves without shelter, clean water or food. Emergency services struggled to cope with the response required. The disaster struck a nation already fractured by civil conflict, where a military government appeared ill-equipped to handle the crisis. Over seven days, Al Jazeera correspondent Tony Cheng documented not just the immediate aftermath, but how this natural catastrophe exposed deeper challenges facing the people of Myanmar during their darkest hour.
