In the pursuit of a healthy life, we often focus on our physical bodies -exercising, eating right, and staying hydrated. But what about the health of our hearts? A "sound heart," or Al-qalb al-saleem, is a heart free from blemishes and illness. It recognizes the true nature of life, a test for believers, a place for worship, and an opportunity to practice patience. In this way, a sound heart is essential for a fulfilling life, not just a healthy one. We must remember that despite our best efforts to preserve our physical bodies, they will inevitably decay. It is only through cultivating a sound heart that we can find true and lasting happiness.
It is narrated on the authority of Amir al-Mu’minin (Leader of the Believers), Abu Hafs ‘Umar bin al-Khattab
, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah
say:
“Surely, all actions are but driven by intentions, and verily every man shall have but that which he intended. Thus, he whose migration was for Allah and His messenger, the migration will be for the sake of Allah and his Messenger. And he whose migration was to achieve some worldly benefit or to marry a woman, then his migration will be for the sake of whatever he migrated for.”
