The Songs That Shape Us.
Tamzene

Tamzene is a young singer, writer and multi-instrumentalist from the coastal town of Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands. Having started learning violin aged eight, at 14 she further extended her musical dexterity by picking up guitar and embarked on writing her own material.

Tamzene continues to release fresh alt-pop hits, since her previous online success with the exposure of ‘Last Song’ featuring on eight Spotify New Music Friday playlists internationally, including New Music Friday UK and USA. She has also been picked by Festival Republic and the PRS Foundation to participate in the pioneering Rebalance programme.

She has previously performed at leading showcase events that includes MUSEXPO, Live at Leeds, and The Great Escape. Plus a brace of slots at International renowned festivals such as Latitude, Kendal Calling, TRNSMT, Belladrum, Live at Heart and Germany’s Reeperbahn Festival.

There are many songs and artists from different eras, that still hold a special place for many people and musicians. For Tamzene, her choices certainly demonstrate her development as an artist and key source of reference to remind herself to true to you as a singer songwriter. The three songs are:

Roberta Black - The First Time Ever I saw Your Face

Alicia Keys - If I Ain’t Got You

Matt Corby - Monday

We finish the episode with Tamzene reflecting upon her career so far, the value of collaboration and supporting other young artists on the beginnings of their career through the Rebalance Project.
