Formed in the summer of 2021, Checkout Queens is a punk rock band hailing from Saskatoon, SK. The band members, self-described theatre nerds, came together during a local production of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” Their music is a compelling mix of humor, punchy rhythms, and relatable lyrics that resonate with audiences. In 2023, they released their debut self-titled EP, which was engineered and produced by Matt Stinn at Rainy Day Recording Co. Checkout Queens quickly made a name for themselves in the Saskatoon music scene, earning the 2023 NSMZ Rising Star Award.

Donny Parenteau is a multi-talented Métis musician hailing from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, whose rich heritage traces back to the historic figure Louis Riel and the Northwest Rebellion of 1885. A virtuoso on the fiddle, which he picked up at the age of 14, Donny’s musical journey has seen him become a celebrated singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, earning him the status of one of Canada’s most highly nominated independent acts.
