We are back! Did you miss the podcast?
This week, Sean interviews Boyd White. Boyd is a friend, a mentor, a scholar, and most importantly, a collector. He is the type of person who can easily talk to you for three hours about the merits of a 19th century detective/werewolf novel. His brain is a vault of popular culture knowledge that could easily compete with Google searches. In this first section of the podcast, the two discuss the serious art of collecting. Boyd talks about his first love, comic books, and how his parents had a chance to buy 5 Spider-Man number one comics for $500 dollars each. We discuss how his collection evolved from comic books to incredibly rare novels and comic strip art. As he explains, comic strip artwork is fascinating because the best artists of the early 20th century created incredibly detailed strips that could never possibly translate well into print. The original artwork is sought after because it is so unique and beautiful. Boyd also explains how the internet has changed the rarity of collectable items. Part one ends with the types of comic strip art that catches his eye.
This is a great podcast for those of you who love pop culture and collecting.
