In honor of Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20th, 2021, I have the pleasure of interviewing my father, Dr. Eliu A Lara. Father's Day is a holiday of honoring fatherhood and paternal bonds, as well as the influence of fathers in society. Growing up I saw how hard my father worked to support his family. His hard work and dedication fueled in me a sense of work ethic that is superb.
In this episode I get the opportunity to interview, My Father, Dr. Eliu A Lara. Dr. Lara was born in the Province of San Cristobal, Dominican Republic and is the third and only male of six siblings. Dr. Lara is the fourth Bronx High Schools District Representative for the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), a delegate for the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), a National Delegate of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), and a member of the UFT Executive Board working for the New York City Department of Education for the last 26 years. He is also the community Pastor for a church in Yonkers, NY, participating as a member of the Westchester County Clergy Organization, and as Executive Secretary of the Dominican United Pastors Association of the State of New York, among other organizations and associations.
In his story he shows us that no matter what obstacles you are faced with in life ultimately if you want something out of life you can obtain it. Failure does not necessarily mean a halt; life is a path and if you have the ability and willingness to do you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
