Once upon a time, I rode a 171cc scooter across the US. For those that aren't able to immediately picture what exactly that looks like, and why that causes alarm in many, imagine a small, sort of roadworthy entity that is not at all intended to be used in such a way. Now, add too much luggage, a bright pink motorcycle jacket and a gal with boat loads of determination to make it work. This, my friends, is only the beginning. This crazy adventure took me about five months once I got scootin'. Needless to say, I almost died a lot. But, I'm also here to tell you; I loved every second of it all,

6. Sending Out An SOS

The physical journey of crossing a bridge, or completing the build of something that has no instructions, can offer great accomplishment. Sometimes, however, the most important hurtles must be explored within oneself. When those hurtles arise, always know there is help to be had, sometimes you just have to pay enough attention to answer the call.

I offer a Content Warning for the last 10 minutes of this episode as I speak about Sexual Assault.

5. Molten Magic Manifestation

It can be hard to ask for what you need, when you have no idea that you need it. Spending so much time under the umbrellas of; "This is new and I know nothing", along with; "I'm terrified but am doing this anyway" could mean the end for many. Lucky for this protagonist hopeful, Jolene seemed to manifest her own personal mechanic, welder and fountain of inspiration all on her own two wheels.

3. Showroom Floors and Parking Lot Handshakes

How does one find, and then say 'yes', to the perfect scooter steed? Between trusting your gut, opening yourself up to learn from others, and always saying 'yes' to a BBQ lunch, you might just find the magic recipe. In this episode you will hear the finding and buying journey of the ideal adventure scooter.

2. Mercury Retrograde VS My Scooter Savior
Ever tried to get a motorcycle license without a motorcycle? Or more particularly, a borrowed scooter with more engine power than you’ve ever experienced? Does anyone actually ever pick up the phone at the DMV in Hawaii? And what the heck is Mercury Retrograde anyway? These questions, and more, will be answered in this weeks episode of The ScooterLife Podcast. (And no, of course no one will ever answer the phone in any DMV, anywhere, at any time, in any place. Just in case you thought there was a chance 😜)

1. ScooterCeption
Welcome to 'ScooterCeption', Episode One from The ScooterLife Podcast. In this episode, you will hear how the heck this whole beautiful mess of an adventure got started. From job prospects to job rejections, abandoned birth certificates and VHS tapes, misty phone calls to my mother, my first Adventure Spreadsheet, and so much more all come together to bring forth 'ScooterCeption'. I hope you enjoy my first podcast recorded in my slightly noisy, yet extra cozy, RV tucked away in the misty woods of the Olympic Peninsula. Stay tuned for more episodes!
