Downton Abbey fans, this one's for us! Who else is part excited and part sad about the Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale movie that's out now? Grandmama won't be in it, and I'll miss her sass keenly for sure!
Summary
In this episode, I talk about the threads of succession planning that run through the Downton Abbey storyline. The Dowager Countess, Violet Crawley, is the matriarch of the Crawley family. Her son, the current earl, is the titled lord of the estate. He has a gorgeous wife and 3 daughters, but the entail of the estate requires that it passes to the next male relative. What could possibly go wrong?
I have watched the Netflix series and the accompanying movies over the years. In honor of the grand finale, I am dedicating space on this episode to talk about their succession dilemmas and how they overcame them in the end.
Did you catch the special note about weekends? You'll just have to listen to find out!

Woohoo, we're on the second episode!
Summary
In this episode, I talk about the Ragley family debate that's in court - and it's quite the sassy story! A grandfather handed over an estate to the father at a certain age. Now, the 3rd generation expects a handover, but have they proved themselves ready?
Plus - how can families prepare their children to take over estates or businesses in this current environment?

Summary
In this episode, I talk about my respect for Voletta Wallace - the mother of the famous Notorious BIG. With a background as a schoolteacher, she was thrust into the unfamiliar world of estates, music rights, and money when her son died. She may not have intended to think about succession for her grandchildren instead of her son, but she successfully grew Biggie's estate from $10 million to $160 million over the past 3 decades.
