A podcast by Phil White My goal as a physio is to provide the best value healthcare possible. Understandably, patients usually place high value on physiotherapists doing something to them in the form of hands on treatments. Hands on treatments are useful. But usually, what has the best long-term results for injury rehab, prevention and performance is teaching patients how they can manage themselves and prepare their body for what they want to do. This podcast is here to help my patients learn how to help themselves.

Should I see a doctor of physio first? Screening for Red Flags - Episode 2

Red flag screening questions

In today's episode, I talk about the signs and symptoms that physios will ask to help guide our diagnosis and decide whether you should be seeing a doctor instead/additionally.

An affirmative answer to these "red flag" questions does not necessarily mean you have a medical condition but it raises the index of suspicion that the symptoms may not be musculoskeletal in nature.

So please, do not panic if one or some of these symptoms apply to you but it may be worth seeing your GP ort to go to the emergency department if the certain symptoms are present.
