The Stoicism Workbook Chapter 2: The Paradox of Control
Welcome back to The Queer Stoic Podcast and to Episode 7 and Chapter 2 of The Stoicism Workbook! This week we will be focusing on Control and the lack of it that we actually have in our lives as opposed to how much we think we have. As a fellow control freak, this has been a difficult concept for me to grasp and to learn to let go of the illusion of control that I have over certain events or influence in general over those events. In the end control is just another way to worry, and worry is a slippery slope to fall down. I want you to keep this phrase in mind as you listen, Amor Fati. I will explain this in depth later, the basic translation is Love your fate. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/thequeerstoic/donations

The Queer Stoic
The Stoicism Workbook Chapter 1: Emotional Resilience and Stoicism
Welcome back to The Queer Stoic, this past week I discovered a new book called The Stoicism Workbook, as a Practicing but still new-ish Stoic myself. I think this book would be a good opportunity for all of us to start with the basics. I will be summarizing the chapters and culminating the lessons into some exercises and of course a journal prompt for the week. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/thequeerstoic/donations

Welcome to Episode 4, Courage is the word of the week. Not only courage for ourselves but others as well. As the title suggests we should foster courage among the helpless around us as well as within ourselves to rise up and be who we are. Temperance Among Consumption
A dive into the second virtue of Stoicism, Temperance, or more accurately, Moderation in the context of Stoicism. Maintaining control and moderating not only our internal feelings and reactions, but our consumption. Be it Social Media, food, drink, and the like. In a modern world that is so focused on consumption how do we maintain this Moderation? Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/thequeerstoic/donations

The Queer Stoic
Wisdom in the Face of Ignorance
This week’s episode is about implementing the virtue of Wisdom in Stoicism to everyday life when dealing with ignorant people and their bigotry against the LGBTQ+ community. We in the Queer community encounter bigotry on a daily basis, both politically and socioeconomically. There are laws being passed that wish to erase us or put us in such a state of fear for our safety that some have fled to other, more accepting countries, or are planning and preparing to do so. Honestly I don’t blame them, I won’t say it is better to flee or stay, that’s not my decision to make for other people. To protect your own peace and physical safety, if you must leave I wish you the best of luck. For those of us that cannot leave for whatever reason, coping the best we can may be the only way to get through this, together. That’s what we’re going to get into this week, on with the show!
