Saving towards a 6-month emergency fund is not an unrealistic goal for a single mother. It may take you longer than some to reach that goal but it's not unrealistic. What's unrealistic is using debt and then expecting to magically have the money to pay back that debt along with the high-interest rate that's tagging along with it.
In today's episode, I share my story of how a mother of 2 went from saving £5 a week to go on to save £ 10,000 and £20,000in a matter of months.

I know, life admin is a chore. It’s mundane, it’s boring and sometimes I’d rather throw myself down the stairs 😭🤣
Seriously, I know I’m a finance expert but I do not enjoy doing my finance admin or any admin at all.
So what keeps me doing it?
The peace I feel once I’ve organised my finances. Such as transferring the money into the necessary accounts to keep my money organised.
I feel in control because I’ve dictated where each penny is spent for the coming month.
I feel financially stable knowing that all my bills are taken care of and paid on time because I chose to follow a plan.
How abundant I feel because I’m able to save due to having a budget in place.
I’ve come to realise that the boring tasks are the ones that create peace, confidence and stability.
Today's episode is about how you can budget effectively.
You can also download your very own budget template for you to use over and over again. It’s practical and simple to use, even for those who are not tech and Excel savvy.

Changing your life in 12 months takes work. There are no loopholes, no quick fixes and no quick turnarounds. However, if you're tired of where you are in your life right now and all of your excuses then changing your life in 12 months is very possible.
In this episode, I go through the 10 steps that I used that changed my life the first time around in 3 years, then I did it again the second time round and it took me 12 months. The third time round I used this process, it took me 6 months (and I was getting over a heartbreak).

There are differing views on whether chasing your ex to pay child support is worthwhile and from my experience, it is only worthwhile if your children's father is EMPLOYED.
If they're self-employed, they can make up any figure and give it to the child maintenance service so you need to up your game and get working on increasing your income.
But I am a strong believer that even if the father is not refusing to pay child support, you should never depend on it. It should be a nice addition to your income, not a necessity to your financial household.

In today's episode, were delving into what needs to make up your financial plan in order for you to feel at peace and in control within your finances.
A year into my financial freedom journey, I had increased my income a little, which allowed me to have breathing space and think beyond making my monthly debt payments. I started thinking about what I wanted my foundation within my financial freedom journey to look like.
So I thought about what I wanted my financial situation to look like. I wanted financial stability. I wanted to be self-sufficient and not have to rely on or ask for anything (however 10 years later, I now know asking for help is a form of self-love, but I’ll dig into that another day). I wanted my children to be set financially, I wanted to have a fully funded 12-month emergency fund and I wanted to ensure that if I was to die before my children became adults that whoever would look after them, would be set financially to do so without a struggle.
