In this episode, I'm joined by Vishal Gupta, the founder of Property Dollar, a company that recently won at the PropTech awards.
We dive into how Property Dollar is solving a national disaster, as Vishal puts it, by democratising property data and empowering buyers to make smarter decisions. He shares the challenges and lessons he's learned as a proptech entrepreneur, particularly the importance of striking a balance between technology and business fundamentals.
We also discuss the broader issues facing the housing market and how proptechs like Property Dollar are working to make a tangible impact on wealth creation for all Australians.
Vishal explains that Property Dollar is more than just a data tool; it's a comprehensive platform designed to meet the needs of different types of users. For first-home buyers, it provides the confidence and clarity to navigate a complex market. For owner-occupiers, it offers the tools to shift into an investor's mindset. And for seasoned investors, it provides the efficiency and optimization needed to manage a large portfolio. We also get a glimpse into the company's ambitious roadmap, its commitment to a freemium model, and the collaborative spirit of the Australian proptech community.
In this episode, I have the pleasure of speaking with Aonghus Stevens, the founder of Asseti. We discuss the company's journey, starting from its roots in the drone space to becoming an intelligent asset operations platform for commercial and industrial buildings.
Aonghus shares his unique background as a university-trained biologist and how that has informed his thinking that buildings are "living, breathing organisms”. We also dive into how Asseti is using this type of thinking to help property owners move from a reactive to a proactive approach to asset management, ultimately maximizing the return on their investments.
Now no conversation in proptech at the moment would be complete without discussing AI, and Aonghus has some great insights into how he thinks about the value of AI in proptech businesses. But equally, we explore the value of human connections and the strong customer partnerships that Asseti are now using to expand into the US.
In this episode, I speak with Rebecca Moroney, founder and CEO of Wayscape, a recent winner at the PropTech Awards and a new player introducing AI for real estate businesses. Rebecca introduces me to "Dee," the platform's AI assistant, and explains how her single language model is specifically trained on real estate to handle everything from managing phone calls and social media to generating appraisals.
And we discuss the different components of the Wayscape ecosystem and how they work together to create a powerful, unified experience for real estate and buyer's agents while unpacking issues like Agentic AI, and the future of AI in real estate.
So buckle in. This is a fascinating look at how AI is being designed to manage the back end of real estate office functions - plus so much more.
In this episode, I interview Logan Nathan, the CEO of i4T Global, a proptech company that has transformed from a B2C idea to a powerful B2B solution for property and strata management.
We delve into the significant pain points in the industry, from the chaotic process of getting quotes to the critical issue of tradie compliance and explore insights on the role of AI, particularly "Agentic AI," in automating and revolutionising strata. including some fascinating use cases, from a machine-generated work order triggered by a simple text message to leveraging rich data to predict and proactively manage maintenance needs.
In this episode, I have the pleasure of speaking with Kevin Williams, the director of Core Vision, a company that has been a quiet achiever in the proptech space for nearly 20 years. Kevin shares his extensive background in software, from his early days at IBM to his entrepreneurial ventures in banking and e-filing. We dive into the story of Core Vision and its flagship product, mybuildings, a versatile facilities management system.
We explore the role of mybuildings in helping clients manage assets, maintenance, and work orders across a diverse range of sectors, from commercial and retail to schools and aged care. Kevin highlights the company's strategy of "playing well with others" by integrating with other key players in the proptech ecosystem, most notably MRI and we also touch upon the future of facilities management, the evolving role of AI, and the ongoing challenge of making technology accessible and practical for everyday users.
In this episode of the Proptech Podcast I interview Alex Antal from Secure Exchange part of the InfoTrack Group. Secure Exchange is a platform designed to make property transactions safer Alex explains how Secure Exchange helps real estate agents, buyers, sellers, and conveyancers work together securely throughout a real estate transaction without relying on email for sharing sensitive information. We discuss the platform's features, how it integrates with other systems, and how it's evolved to meet the specific needs of real estate agents and the importance of cybersecurity.
In this episode, I chat with Ian Campbell. You might remember Ian. He was the founder of RiTA, Australia’s first real estate AI together with co-founder Dr Sarah Bell and the pair successfully exited the business after its sale to CoreLogic.
After a bit of a break, Ian is now founder of the venture studio Bright Young Things. And in this episode, Ian shares his passion for startups and his journey to creating a studio that focuses on early-stage venture development, from ideation to product-market fit.
We discuss the importance of research and validation in the startup process, and how AI can be a valuable tool for gathering and analyzing market insights. We then delve into GoList, one of the studio's ventures, which aims to solve the lead conversion problem in real estate. Ian explains why lead generation is not the issue, but rather the industry's archaic methods of managing and converting those leads. He highlights the negative impact this has on brand reputation and service delivery, and how GoList aims to improve efficiency and customer experience.

Rentpay is a platform designed to make rent collection and payment easier by giving renters flexible payment options, cashback rewards, and tools to help them manage their finances better in an environment that is more secure than just emailing your bank details for direct debit.
At the same time, it simplifies rent reconciliation and reduces admin time for property managers, making their lives easier.
In today's episode, we are diving deep into the world of artificial intelligence and real estate with Chris McGoldrick, the founder of ListAssist. ListAssist is an innovative AI-powered platform that is revolutionising the way home buyers search for properties and how real estate agents engage with potential clients.
Chris will share his journey of launching ListAssist and the unique challenges of entering the American real estate market from New Zealand. We'll uncover the secrets of their success, including their recent win at the Proptech Angel Investment Network Pitchfest and their exciting partnership with Howard Hannah, the largest privately-owned brokerage in North America.
But most importantly, we’re going to take a look at how ListAssist is harnessing the power of AI to make the experience of finding your dream home work just as it does to find the perfect tshirt online - or any other retail experience - using property features and data extracted from imagery together with natural language search.
Welcome to the PropTech Podcast! In this episode, we are delving into the world of co-ownership and its potential to revolutionise modern property ownership.
My guests are Lynda Coker and Liz Rochaix, the co-founders of Co-operty, an innovative platform designed to simplify and streamline the co-ownership journey.
Co-operty is tackling one of the biggest challenges facing aspiring homeowners: affordability which they tackle through digitising the long existing legal framework of tenants in common, and providing some security and asset protection around the idea of the Bank of Mum and Dad.
Whether you're a potential first time homebuyer or the parents of Milennial or Gen Z - this is a cracking episode.
My guest in this episode is Michael Shaw, CEO of what at the time of the interview was a proptech called EnvisionVR, but they have, in the pursuant months, changed their name to Enviz.
Enviz creates immersive experiences for new - as yet unbuilt - property through floorplans and property models. Enviz supports architects and CGI studios to upload 3D designs allowing buyers to experience fully the new home they will be purchasing via their mobile phone, tablet or computer - you don’t need a full VR headset. And the design community don’t need expensive software.
And as you’ll hear in this episode, this results in more confident buyers, faster sales and even higher prices. And as you’ll learn from Michael, VR is just the beginning. There’s VR, AR and even XR.
The first Virtual Reality headset was invented in 1968, and the technology got a huge bump in 2014 when Facebook bought Oculus VR, so why has it taken so long for real estate and property to embrace it? On our first Proptech Panel for 2024, our President, Kylie Davis explores three different and compelling use cases for VR across both residential and commercial real estate. Josh Callaghan from Little Hinges Christian Schwerdtfeger from IMMERSIV Michael Shaw from EnvisionVR Gain exclusive insights into how to use VR in designing, buying, building, selling and maintaining property plus insights into how to integrate VR seamlessly into your real estate business.
Creating new value from existing assets is one of the big benefits of digital disruption. So how is this playing out in the commercial property sector? Our Proptech Panel for February explores new ways commercial property owners can improve efficiency and realise new revenue streams in their existing buildings to revitalise and add value to tenants without even moving a brick. Join our host Carolyn Trickett from JLL Spark, together with our expert panel Chris Mason from MobileDock, Sean Lucas from Essensys, and Mosstyn Howell from UbiPark as we discuss how delivering better connectivity, parking and loading dock solutions can reduce return-to-office friction and support better building experiences.
Now one of the biggest growth categories in the Proptech Awards for 2023 was tech for developers and off the plan sales.
And our next guests are a brand new startup specialising in disgitising how land is sold.
Landnow is a real time marketplace for land sales allowing the building industry to see exactly which blocks are available, their location and specifications to ensure they are suitable for different house designs and most importantly, the ability to put a block on hold. It replaces the very slow and laborious system of emailing pdfs of stock lists and constant phone and email tag - sometimes over a week or more - to see if a block was available to purchase.
Landnow launched in October in Perth where builder reps sell more than 70% of all land but they have big plans to go national.
So buckle up for a niche - but super fascinating - Proptech in this episode with my guest Sean Lucas from Essensys.
Essensys deliver end to end solutions for digital access for flex spaces including connectivity, access control and network infrastructure.
Sounds simple but you know what they say - simple at the front means a lot of complication out the back. And the nature of shared office space with all different types of computers and systems plugging in exponentially increases that complication.
And with hybrid working changing so many of our office spaces, and flexible working space growing by a huge 30% globally, the services Essensys offers are in strong demand from commercial office owners.
Brene Brown said famously that data is a story with soul. And our next guest is a Proptech founder working to put the soul into the development of new communities through the smart use of data.
Jessica Christiansen-Franks is the co-founder and CEO of Neighbourlytics, a data company that specialises in helping developers understand what makes communities genuinely tick.
From online restaurant reviews to event check-ins, the Neighbourlytics technology synthesises data from digital sources to see places through the eyes of local residents - helping citymakers understand, measure and monitor social wellbeing in the places they create and manage.
Jess co-founded Neighbourlytics in 2017, as digital transformation was starting to shape the future of citymaking and urban design and Neighbourlytics is now used by the majority of Australia’s leading property developers, asset managers, and urban planners to create better, connected neighbourhoods.
The ground-breaking technology was a multiple award winner at the Proptech Awards and has scaled rapidly, providing data and insights today for more than 2000 neighbourhoods across 12 countries.
Now have you heard about the push to electrify Australia’s residential sector? It’s a concerted campaign driven by the Australian Government to meet a target where 82 per cent of our energy is generated through renewable sources rather than coal and gas by 2030.
And to hit this target, the vast majority of Australia’s 12 million existing home owners need to switch their homes off fossil fuels and onto solar or wind power. But where on earth do you start? This is something that I’m personally looking at for my home and the options - and the adulting required - is exhausting.
But my next guest is changing all that. Alex Houlston is the CEO and cofounder of Boom - also known as BoomPower - is an Aussie climate-tech business that delivers building electrification needs all in one platform to simplify electrifying homes, help with decisions and get access to reliable suppliers, while veryifying emission impacts. It’s being used by the banking sector to help their customers plan upgrades to their homes.
Alex has had an extensive career in the renewable energy sector before starting Boom in 2018 - and I don’t think his timing could have been any better
