The Easiest Way to 10x Your Content (Without Re-recording)
Louie is an editor at Disruptive Media, so repurposing media content is his jam. There really is nothing he doesn´t know about turning a single episode into dozens of pieces of compelling content for you to post across multiple platforms, so you can build your audience. So, strap in and let Louie tell you about every last nugget that you can get out of a single podcast episode to enable you to maximise your reach. This approach enables you to record once, then profit endlessly from every single episode. Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! Use email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways Cut-down snippets released throughout the week on platforms like TikTok and Instagram tempt people to listen to the full episode. Plan some of your snippets beforehand and include them when you record an episode. Finding snappy moments in an interview episode can be tricky, but Louie provides some great ways to create and find those golden nuggets. Ensure your camera framing provides enough headroom and chin room and that you are centred in the frame—this makes it much easier to create high-quality, engaging social clips. Check your guests' positioning too. Keep at it, keep feeding the algorithm - some things will fail, others will go viral. Add subtitles to your clips, transitions, glitches, pattern interrupts and graphics. You have seconds to grab and hold someone´s attention, all of these elements help with that. BEST MOMENTS “At the agency, when someone sends in a full length, 20-minute-long episode, we will create 7 social media clips out of that.” “Look at your favourite YouTubers or podcasters to see how they do it and try and copy their style and emulate certain elements.” “Consider what your content looks like, and think, would I watch this myself? .” "Try and plan them (snippets) into your recording. As I write the script for this episode, I will think about what my end content needs to be.” EPISODE RESOURCES Rob Moore´s channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLtKal0qTf3klDUr7JS_L9Q VALUABLE RESOURCES Website - https://disruptivemedia.co.uk Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? How To Be a Great Podcast Host (5 Tips that Actually Work)
Are you struggling to find your voice as a podcast host and fully engage your audience? In this episode, Louis shares five essential tips to help you become a great podcast host. He explains how to build confidence, engage your audience, and manage guests like a pro.  Discover how to prepare effectively, create a welcoming environment for your guests, master active listening, deliver your podcasts with the right level of energy and fully engage your audience. Louie’s practical strategies will help you overcome nerves and deliver compelling episodes—whether you’re flying solo or hosting with a guest.  Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! Use email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways Your energy is important. If you speak in a monotone, in a low tone most people will automatically switch off mentally and click away. On the other hand, being over the top will also turn people off. Louie explains how to keep your energy high enough. Train yourself to be an active listener. Louie explains how to do that and react when your guest says something you want them to elaborate on. Preparation is vital. It helps your confidence and creates the mental head space to actively listen to your guest. It enables you to be truly present instead of constantly thinking about what you are going to say next. Pause briefly each time your guest stops speaking. If they have something else to say they will be able to do so without your talking over them. It also gives you and your audience time to think. BEST MOMENTS “Tip number one is all about energy, tone and pacing. Make sure, as a host, that you are constantly thinking about how your energy is coming across.” “Listen back to yourself and see how you feel or get some feedback from a listener and then react accordingly.” “Try and be as quiet as humanly possible whilst the other person's speaking, so you're not disrupting the airwaves.” "Make sure that they (your guests) are comfortable, make sure they know that they can pause. Make sure they know that you can edit things out. Make sure that you guide them through it. The Perfect Podcast Structure: Step-by-Step Guide
Today, Louie talks about podcast structure - what a podcast should sound like, how it should be formatted, and how to ensure each element of your podcast is delivered in an engaging way. Louie explains how to prepare an introduction that will tempt people to listen, followed by a main body that covers the points you have in mind and an outro that makes a lasting impact. He does this for both guest and solo episodes and explains the extra elements you need to add when publishing on video platforms. Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! Use email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk EPISODE TAKEAWAYS If you've got a guest, maybe save recording the introduction until the end of the conversation. To make the main body of your podcast compelling, structure it with clear segments, maintain a lively pace, and keep the energy high. Break up the content with transitions, games, CTAs or quick-fire questions to keep listeners engaged. Take inspiration from other successful shows. BEST MOMENTS “Having some sort of structure will allow you to pace things properly but will also allow you to keep the energy high.” “Don't drag it out. If you feel like it's coming to a natural end, end it.” "They have three very clear sections that they move between via subtle audio transitions along the way. It really keeps the pace going." “For your outro, you might want to deliver some key points where you readdress certain things or remind people of those call-to-action points.” EPISODE RESOURCES https://www.offmenupodcast.co.uk How to add video chapters - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvkTC2xIbeY VALUABLE RESOURCES Website - https://disruptivemedia.co.uk Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Secrets to Managing ANY Podcast Guest Like a Pro
In this episode, Louie explains how to get the most out of your podcast guests and create shows audiences can´t resist. He explains how to prepare guests before the show, including helping them get their tech set up right, making them comfortable on air, and maximizing post-interview promotion.  Whether you’re a seasoned podcaster or just starting out, discover actionable strategies to create engaging interviews and grow your audience through effective guest collaboration. Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! Use email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways Prepare your guests early. Explain the format, share some of your questions, and make sure they understand how to set their room up to make a good quality recording or have directions to the recording studio. On the day, check that they are framed properly on the screen and that their sound is good. Help your guest to relax by having a brief chat before starting the recording. Your podcast interviews will be much more interesting. Begin the conversation with an engaging question instead of their backstory. Promote your guest’s services throughout the episode, not just at the end. Keep in touch and encourage them to share the episode by sending them clips and asking if they know any other potential guests. BEST MOMENTS "Anything, I promise you, anything, will be better than the inbuilt microphone in their laptop or webcam." “There is nothing worse than having to end a podcast early because your guest wasn't prepared for how long they were going to be there.” "Remember you are the host, and you know the most. You need to coach them through this process." "Make sure that they're sat up straight, that they're looking into the camera, that there's no weird angles or anything like that." "Promote their stuff so they feel like it was worth it." VALUABLE RESOURCES Website - https://disruptivemedia.co.uk Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? The Top Mistakes Podcasters Make and How to Avoid Them
#286 TPP – The Top Mistakes Podcasters Make and How to Avoid Them DESCRIPTION Louie talks about the top mistakes he has seen clients make during the 6 years he has spent working as a podcast editor. Some of these are mistakes that even his most amazing clients make. In some cases, episode after episode. With this in mind, Louie shares some simple ways to avoid them. Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! Using email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways  The space you record your podcast in affects how you feel and come across to your audience, as well as the sound quality.  Your moving creates noise and vibration. Louie shares several tips to help you prevent this from ruining your podcast episodes.  Angle your microphone towards the corner of your mouth. This eliminates the plosive sounds audiences find so off putting.  A teleprompter will help you to look in the right direction and fully engage with the audience.  Wear headphones, so you can spot if your recording fails mid-episode. Make a note for the editor if you make a mistake.  Be concise. Audiences hate rambling. Working with a few bullet points helps with this issue. BEST MOMENTS “The space that you record a podcast in is very important to the sound quality and how you feel when recording.” “Imagine that the lens is a portal to your audience, and you've really got to try to look right down the lens at people.” "Avoid all costs those like sippy cup things, that's disgusting. No one wants to hear that." “At the very least, create some bullet points of where you want to start, where you want to go, in the middle, and where you want to end.” “I've even had someone do a podcast next to a runway.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Website - https://disruptivemedia.co.uk Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Podcast Growth Hacks: Creating Winning Calls to Action
Louie talks through how to turn listeners into loyal fans and buyers by creating calls to action (CTAs) that actually get clicked on and grow your audience and pool of regular buyers. He explains exactly how to create and record simple, engaging CTAs that get your audience to take the action you need them to, whether that is subscribing, reviewing, booking an event, buying a course, coaching, or something else. Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! Use email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways  The simpler the action is, the more likely it is people will do it. Subscribing, rating, or visiting a website are examples of quick and easy actions. Think about what it is that you're doing and what it is you want your audience member to do, then make it easy for them to take that action. Your CTA needs to be short, simple and give people a reason to do it. Tailor your CTA to the platform (s) you are using. Louie explains how. Put your CTA in the first third of your content. Creating a flawless CTA may take you several takes, so put aside enough time to get the job done. BEST MOMENTS “A call to action is asking someone to do something. It's a call to do an action - this can be as simple as liking, subscribing, following, rating, any of that jazz.” “With the CTAs, you can’t ask them to do too much. You've got to make it easy, clickable, one thing - one simple step.” “Like and subscribe is more of a video thing. Rating and reviewing is more of a podcast thing. So, think about what platform you want to be on and just record something.” "You want this advert to come in early, to get the most people possible. DON'T Hit Record UNTIL You've Heard THIS
Louie shares how to set up your first recording for your podcast. He gives a step by step guide on what you need to do and how to get a great podcast recording, whether that’s a solo episode or you are interviewing. Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways • Suggested Equipment You Will Need: Samsung Q2U microphone, a recorder like the Zoom PodTrak P4, Batteries, SD Card, 4GB SanDisk, XLR cable if using multiple microphones, Microphone stand and Headphones. For more detail on equipment head to episode ‘PODCAST EQUIPMENT 101: WHAT YOU NEED & WHY’ • Think about the positioning of your microphone as this is key to the quality of your sound. • Always wear your headphones at all times, unless you have someone listening to the recording for you. • The ‘gain’ of the microphone is essentially its sensitivity; the higher the dial, the more sensitive it is. Check that it is at a comfortable level by listening through your headphones. • It is better to be too quiet than too loud, as if you are too loud, you will distort your recording and it cannot be saved in post-production. BEST MOMENTS “You’re going to listen to it, so make sure it sounds good to you” “Listen to the recording and change dials appropriately to make sure we are coming through clearly” “We’re trying to avoid peaking or being too loud in the microphone” “If this is your first time plugging everything in, do expect some changes and tech faults” VALUABLE RESOURCES PODCAST EQUIPMENT 101: WHAT YOU NEED & WHY: https://traffic.megaphone.fm/USVL7437414704.mp3?updated=1753924125 Website Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Podcast Equipment 101: What You Need & WHY
In this episode, Louie tells you everything you need to know about equipment when recording your podcast. He shares what he would personally recommend to just get started, what provides value for money and what things you absolutely do not need for a beginner to intermediate set up. There are no affiliations here; this is just what we would recommend after working with hundreds of clients across many different types and styles of podcasts! Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways • Samsung Q2U microphone. This sometimes will come in a kit. This microphone is very good value for money and can be used in any podcasting set up. • Zoom H4n and the Zoom PodTrak P4 are both good options for a recorder, but consider what input you need before deciding. • There are a lot of other things to consider with a recorder. Keep a close eye on the podcast for an episode Louie is recording on exactly this! • Batteries are important for recording; you will need more than you expect. • SD card options are almost endless, but Louie recommends a relatively high speed and large option, such as the 4GB SanDisk. • If you have multiple people speaking then you need multiple microphones. You will need an XLR cable to be able to plug them all in, you need one XLR cable per microphone. Consider the length of cable you might need. • Microphone stands will vary depending on your type of set up. Its main purpose is to get the microphone away from any surfaces that might vibrate or create unwanted feedback and noise. • Headphones are forward, you can use almost anything you have already, it’s about monitoring the recording, so anyone who is being recorded needs to be wearing headphones. BEST MOMENTS “Think about what kind of podcast you are making.” “The worst thing that could happen is you guys run out of battery mid interview and don’t realise it and don’t have back up” “If you’ve got something that works, get it out, plug it in, see if it sounds ok. You don’t have to go away and spend loads of money if you don’t need to, use something if you’ve got it” VALUABLE RESOURCES Microphone: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samson-SAQ2U-Microphone-Recording-Pack/dp/B001R747SG?th=1 Recorder: https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/200806360890025--zoom-podtrak-p4?gad_source=4&gad_campaignid=17601953470&gbraid=0AAAAAD76p-1ub2Ja6py32W1LsdqRLx5bn&gclid=CjwKCAjwv5zEBhBwEiwAOg2YKNRDfzEkrcAWQ7Sw8ARzMOFBF1rtT_FSr9j77LnVeYfe1iUNC1KlKBoCnFIQAvD_BwE SD Card: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-MicroSDHC-Card-Label-Change/dp/B001C0DJL4 Website Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Who's Listening? How to Attract The RIGHT Audience
Louie talks about how you can attract the right listeners to your podcast. He explains why attracting the right listener matters, sharing tips and tools on how you can figure out your audience and niche and get the right people listening to your show. https://rephonic.com/graph Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways If you try and attract everyone, you won’t attract anyone. It’s important that you niche down your podcast enough to find the right audience. Are you a business or working on behalf of a business, do you need to take into consideration who you as a personality will attract -vs- the business Connection and relationships are built on common ground so think about what you can say that people will want to listen to. Think about who your target audience are, what are their hobbies, interests and desires? Then tailor your content and delivery to them. Don’t underestimate things like forums and Facebook groups to reach your audience. If you find yourself in a rut, then pivot, you don’t have to keep doing the same thing just because that’s what you started with. BEST MOMENTS “What do you give and how can you connect with someone?” “What are their hobbies, interests, desires? $12 Million from 1 Video: The Power of Free Knowledge with Jason Graystone
Try Riverside free now: https://creators.riverside.fm/PodcastersPodcast & Use code: Podcast15 for an exclusive 15% off. Ash and Kane interview Jason Graystone, a financial expert who made £12 million from a single YouTube video in just 10 months. Jason shares his philosophy of giving away everything for free, revealing how his approach built trust with his audience and led to great opportunities. From starting as an electrical engineer to becoming financially free by age 29, Jason talks to Ash and Kane about content creation, building communities and why business opportunities aren’t just about pure financial gain. KEY TAKEAWAYS Jason's content strategy focuses on complete transparency. He shares his entire methodology for free, which created trust and led to millions in revenue as viewers sought his implementation guidance rather than just information. Jason maintains an exclusive community with 18,000 people on a waiting list while only accepting 30 new members monthly, creating a scarcity model that increases perceived value and ensures engagement among members. He achieved financial independence at 29, covering his living costs without relying on others and by 35 reached true financial freedom that would continue without his day to day involvement. His 2.5 hour YouTube videos attract committed learners, with many telling Jason they specifically chose his content because of its length, serving as an effective filter for serious audience members. Despite generating £1.8 million annually from his personal brand, Jason has never run paid advertising, relying entirely on organic content distribution and word of mouth. Jason created sophisticated multi step funnels that gradually introduce paid offerings after providing free value. After achieving financial security, Jason experienced a mental shift from accumulation to contentment, now evaluating opportunities based on whether they bring fulfilment rather than just financial gain. While Jason has managed a £50 million property portfolio, he considers his audience relationships his most valuable asset, opening doors to celebrity partnerships, speaking engagements and other business opportunities. BEST MOMENTS "From that one video, because of the funnel in the back end of that, we did 12 million in 10 months and that is direct proof that if you just give all of the information away, people wanna work with you even more."  "Don't try and be profound. Understand how much value you've got inside you and think the person listening is five years behind or a year behind or a paragraph behind."  "Information's a commodity for a start, but the mind shift comes when you realise that it's just about getting people to spend longer with you because the longer they spend with you, the more they trust you."  "I've got people who've had tattoos of my logo on their skin. When they're sitting in a coffee shop and someone says, what's that? They're not gonna slag my thing off. They're gonna overtalk it so they don't feel like an idiot for having a tattoo."  "I think people get imposter syndrome when they're lying. People get imposter syndrome when they're getting out of their lane and they start trying to be profound."    VALUABLE RESOURCES Jason Graystone Website EPISODES TO CHECK OUT NEXT https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-1 https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/046-how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-2 Comparing Podcast Production Options | using AI? Is Podcasting Better for Lead Gen or Brand Building?
Try Riverside free now: https://creators.riverside.fm/PodcastersPodcast & Use code: Podcast15 for an exclusive 15% off. Ash and Kane discuss whether podcasting is better for brand building or lead generation. They share examples of how podcasting is great for both but also explain that while podcasting can generate high quality leads, its real power lies in building trust and creating long term opportunities. KEY TAKEAWAYS Podcasting builds a brand better than it generates leads, it generally creates more value through indirect opportunities than direct monetisation. Authenticity is essential as overly sales focused content isn’t good for audience trust and long term brand value. Tim Ferriss leveraged his podcast brand to invest early in Uber, Facebook, Shopify, Duolingo and Twitter, showing how brand benefits can outweigh direct revenue. Podcast listeners often skip typical marketing funnel stages, converting directly to high ticket purchases. Podcast leads are typically fewer but higher quality so listeners are more likely to buy expensive products and services. Interview established names in your industry to build credibility by association, especially when you are first starting out. The podcasting opportunity hierarchy is to brand build first, lead nurturing second and lead generation third. BEST MOMENTS "If you overly focus on lead gen, that will affect your brand. The longer you can go without asking, the more you can ask for." "The more human you are and the more you share opinions and what you believe in, that's what builds brand. Essentially it's like trust and when you build brand, you get loads of opportunities." "Tim Ferris is one of the OG podcasters. It's been around like a decade, more than a decade, almost 15 years, really strong brand and because of his really strong brand, he was given the opportunity to invest in some of the biggest companies at a really early stage." "I think it is not the best vehicle for your top of funnel... Anybody who normally reaches out to us from the podcast, they're buying our training or they're working with the agency. They're not doing like discovery calls, webinars, let me get on your email list." "The podcast, I might get like less than 10 leads a month, but like they're buying really expensive products.” "The brand you get isn't just through posting content and getting views, it's by being sat next to somebody who's already really respected and leveraging other people's brand."     VALUABLE RESOURCES Website EPISODES TO CHECK OUT NEXT https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-1 https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/046-how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-2 Comparing Podcast Production Options | using AI? Creative Ways to Partner with Brands
Try Riverside free now: https://creators.riverside.fm/PodcastersPodcast & Use code: Podcast15 for an exclusive 15% off. Ash and Kane share creative ways podcasters and creators can partner with brands. Podcasters and brands don't need to settle for a boring pre-roll ad when there are so many interesting and productive ways to partner and collaborate.  KEY TAKEAWAYS Brands can create content that the podcaster takes part in, so it becomes an association between podcaster and the brand. Creators speaking at brand events is a creative way to embed a brand partnership and build authenticity too. Product placement is a simple but effective way for brands to partner with podcasts. Think about alternative ways you have a presence as a podcaster/creator and utilise that as an avenue with brands. BEST MOMENTS "I wanna be Jordan to Nike but it’s Ash and Kane and Riverside” “Product placement is one” “Doing things that have the creator involved with the brand in person, you can create content for both channels”   VALUABLE RESOURCES Website EPISODES TO CHECK OUT NEXT https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-1 https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/046-how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-2 Comparing Podcast Production Options | using AI? How to Get Sponsorship Right
Try Riverside free now: https://creators.riverside.fm/PodcastersPodcast & Use code: Podcast15 for an exclusive 15% off. Ash and Kane share how brands and podcasters can find the right match with sponsorship. They reveal what both advertisers and podcasters can leverage to get the sponsorship right, including how brands can find the perfect audience match and how podcasters can position themselves to attract ideal sponsors. KEY TAKEAWAYS Relevance trumps reach when choosing podcasts to sponsor. Find niche shows where your target audience aligns rather than mass-market podcasts with scattered audiences. Look for creators who are famous to a few in their specific niche, as their recommendations hold significant weight with followers who trust their opinion. Average viewer duration matters more than view count. Ensure audiences actually consume the portions where your ad will appear before investing. Research what competitors a podcaster has previously endorsed. Multiple competing sponsors can signal audience recommendation fatigue and can mean your ad won’t be as effective. Always listen to a podcaster's previous ad reads to evaluate their authenticity. The way they deliver ads for other brands indicates how they'll represent yours too. Long term partnerships are a strong signal for success, try and prioritise podcasters who maintain ongoing relationships with sponsors. Verify audience demographics for legitimacy, unusual geographic distributions (like a US business podcast with 60% Indian listeners) could indicate buying followers. Sponsors earned $4.90 for every dollar spent on podcast advertising last year. You're not just buying ad space, you're purchasing years of established trust between host and audience. BEST MOMENTS " The sentiment of this episode is relevance, not reach.” "Someone said to Matt, 'whatever you recommend, I just buy' what a fucking endorsement that is. If you're a brand, you can find your specific audience and then find who is the person that they all know in that space and trust the opinion of."  "Even if you have a script, you can make a script sound not like a script." "Do they work with their partners in a way where they genuinely endorse the product and genuinely are trying to get results for them?"  "On average, last year, sponsors make $4.90 for every dollar they spend. So it's a great place to be in and for the brand's benefit, you are buying trust that would normally take you years to build."   VALUABLE RESOURCES Website EPISODES TO CHECK OUT NEXT https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-1 https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/046-how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-2 Comparing Podcast Production Options | using AI? Pay to Win in Podcasting
Try Riverside free now: https://creators.riverside.fm/PodcastersPodcast & Use code: Podcast15 for an exclusive 15% off. Ash and Kane talk about what you can pay for in podcasting to help you succeed. From software to studios, they discuss the pros of paying to win in podcasting. KEY TAKEAWAYS Pay for high-quality production, this will give you better opportunities and make others want to work with you. Pay for guests, the content you get from a good guest can give you a great return. Hire an editor to make each episode perfect but also repurpose your content for other platforms and short form content. Paid marketing, such as paying to sponsor other podcasts. Sponsor the podcasts your audience is already listening to. BEST MOMENTS "In your first year, you could have 10 great guests and if you’re good on YouTube and TikTok you could blow up” “Having really good production is one thing, but having really good post-production is really important as well” “I know somebody who spent a lot of money with a guest booker so that they can’t work with other people” VALUABLE RESOURCES Website EPISODES TO CHECK OUT NEXT https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-1 https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/046-how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-2 Comparing Podcast Production Options | using AI?  The Most Hated Podcasters And Why We Love To Hate Them
Try Riverside free now: https://creators.riverside.fm/PodcastersPodcast & Use code: Podcast15 for an exclusive 15% off. Ash and Kane discuss the most hated podcasters in this episode. They reveal Google's top five most hated podcast hosts including Steven Bartlett, Joe Rogan, Logan Paul, Meghan Markle and Andrew Tate, exploring why these figures attract criticism despite their success! KEY TAKEAWAYS Steven Bartlett makes the list of most hated podcasters due to controversies around his business claims, association with Huel and because his interview style focused too much on making celebrities emotional. Joe Rogan appears on the list because of his massive success and controversial political interviews, hosting divisive guests can attract criticism regardless of the host's own personal views. Logan Paul's reputation suffered from the "Crypto Zoo" scandal, which was essentially a pump and dump scheme that cost followers millions. Meghan Markle's podcast failure after an alleged $20 million Spotify deal contributed to public criticism, with accusations she wasn't even present for guest recordings! Andrew Tate rounds out the list as one of the most Googled people in 2023, with his controversial views making him particularly reviled despite maintaining a long running podcast. Some podcasters, like Theo Von, seem to avoid significant backlash despite controversial content. Personality and delivery style definitely play a role in audience reception. Success inevitably attracts criticism, with the David Goggins quote: "You'll never find a hater doing better than you." BEST MOMENTS "Everyone loves to hate successful people. What's the David Goggins quote? You'll never find a hater doing better than you." "Controversy sells but also he would interview people that had strong opinions... you end up getting all of the hate because you have essentially hosted this person. Even if it's not your opinions at all." “I mean, everyone loves to hate Tate and he has extremely contrarian views, so that one barely needs explaining." "Let me introduce you to gambling addiction... If you buy a shitty meme coin with all of your money like that, that some influencer promoted, who just appeared a month ago, you deserve to lose your money."   VALUABLE RESOURCES Website EPISODES TO CHECK OUT NEXT https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-1 https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/046-how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-2 Comparing Podcast Production Options | using AI? The Worst Advice in Podcasting
Try Riverside free now: https://creators.riverside.fm/PodcastersPodcast & Use code: Podcast15 for an exclusive 15% off. Ash and Kane reveal the worst podcasting advice they have heard. Join them as they talk about common podcast advice and why it can be bad advice for podcasters. KEY TAKEAWAYS “Don’t edit your show” This is bad advice; raw audio is not better. Don’t confuse authenticity with unfinished and unprofessional. “Just be consistent and your podcast will grow” Consistency is very important, but it has to be combined with other actions such as promoting and guesting on other shows. “Build it and they will come, you don’t need marketing just great content” If you have the right content and brilliant production, this can be the case on platforms such as YouTube, but good content alone isn’t enough. “Niche down as much as possible” Most people start to broad and need to niche down, which is why this advice is given, but it’s important to not niche for the sake of it or niche too much and alienate potential audiences. “You just need good guests” Good guests aren’t the only thing that will help your show or help you grow. You still need good production and promotion. You can also grow without good guests. “You must stick to strict format” Having a recognisable format is important, tying into consistency, but you don’t have to be super strict. “The more you post the quicker you grow” Quality over quantity! "You need the best equipment to succeed" Not true, there are some essentials, but they don't have to cost a lot.  "SEO and keywords don't matter for podcasts" They absolutely do matter for discoverability.  BEST MOMENTS “There’s two types of podcasting marketing, growth marketing and retention marketing” “Generally just really good content is a form of retention marketing” “The show seems to do really well when I’m active on LinkedIn” “Don’t niche for the sake of niching, niche because it makes sense” “A great guest is someone who has a loyal fanbase and talks about things they haven’t really talked about before but that alone won’t help you grow” VALUABLE RESOURCES Website EPISODES TO CHECK OUT NEXT https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-1 https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/046-how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-2 Comparing Podcast Production Options | using AI?
